To stay on topic with warders, does anyone know the subleties of warder bonding? Female bonding male, female bonding female, male bonding female, and male bonding male (is it possible)? Just wondering? What does everyone gain/lose? Advantages/disadvantages and the likes.

I usually assume that any inconsistency or continuity goof I notice in this series has already been extensively analyzed by someone, but I haven't heard this one brought up before. Maybe someone can prove me wrong... Before Rahvin gets balefire'd out of existence he kills Mat and others with lightning and fire; it's specifically noted that the foxhead medallion only offers immunity from saidar. However, in LoC Mat arrives in Salidar and dances with Halima/Aran'gar at a party one night and manages to miff her enough to get channelled at: "It should have been nothing, but before he had gone ten paces the foxhead went icy cold on his chest. He spun around, looking…

45ish. I was already to start a discussion on how old Amys could be compared to other midrange channelers, when I realized that she had said that she was a maiden when Tigraine showed up in the waste. That would make her 45 or thereabouts. Which makes me wonder, were does a 45 year old wise one get off being equal to the 300 year old soreilia?

Hey Folks Just finished listening to the entire series (working on New Spring now) in audio and wanted to make some quick observations. -First off, if you haven’t tried listening to the audio version of WOT, I highly recommend it. I found it to be a wonderful experience. It gave old familiar stories and characters a shiny new coat. :D I didn’t know if I would like listening to the stories at first but hearing names read aloud (pronounced correctly), accents, speech patterns, emotions expressed, were very thrilling (on top of the story of course). The readers Kate Reading and Michael Kramer are fine voice actors. They read the male and female POVs respectively. …

Moiraine. She never bitches. I would include Siaun, Amys, or any wiseone or Aes Sedai, but they are all older versions of Nynaeve. I really think RJ had some issues with women and authority.

  8. I'm just curious. I started reading the series at 11 years old as I got into sixth grade. My older brother bought me book 9 so i went to the store and bought the first. What about you guys? When did you stop by the store and say 'wow, i need to buy that?!/how did you get introduced to it?

  9. Started by gaishain,

I was wondering if someone could provide a link or something with RJ saying that 'half the mail he gets in regards to Asmodean's death is incorrect'. I heard that he said this before the whole Graendal theory came about... but I just want to look into it. Also if you have them available any quotes from RJ in regards to Asmo's death would be super. :D Thanks!

This was a response I made to a person who feels very strongly against Egwene, however, instead of hijacking that thread, I have decided to create this one to contine the conversation. Egwene in the later books has received better training than Rand, and is slightly more level headed than he can be. True, Rand has a tough job, but so does Egwene, and she probably could do a decent job at being the DR. I agree that she would have trouble facing Rands pain though.

OK, so I tossed this theory out in another "Will Rand Survive" thread but I didn't get any feedback so I thought that I would create my own thread and see what happens. The reason that I think Rand has to survive the Last Battle is the conversation between Min and Aviendha from Winter's Heart(pg. 334 softcover). They have just left Elayne and Rand alone for their little conjugal visit that results in the twins: Well, we all know that what Min sees happens. As of the end of Knife of Dreams, Rand and Aviendha haven't been together again for so much as a conversation, let alone any baby-making. And I don't think RJ is in to immaculate conception. So unless they get …

So I have been thinking on this for a long time, personally I don't believe Taim is a forsaken or even a minor forsaken due to certain facts. When Rand told Taim to create the Black Tower he created a gateway and Taim was surprised and quickly learned the weave, so if he was even a minor forsaken i would think he would know how to travel. It is also known that the Third age is an age long gone and an age yet to come, so we know that the Asha-man won't last until the Age of Legends once it comes again. I believe Taim will lead the Asha-man agaist Rand on Tarmon Gai'don and be destroyed by the male Aes Sedai We know that in a point in history there are Male Aes Sed…

  14. Okay this is why I sort of believe this theory of mine. I was recently re-reading the the World of Wheel book and was reading the section about severing and burn out and how it was thought they could not be healed until recently, when severing had been healed by you know who - no not Voldermort- and it went on to explain what severing and burn out were. Severing = when a channeler deliberately has the ability to channel torn from them ( yes we all know this) but it goes on to say they can still sense the source just tantilizingly out of reach taunting them. Burn Out = when a channeler accidentally destroys their ability to channel by drawing more than they can…

about min's prophesy, She said she "saw 2 birds standing on his shoulders" or some such. Can anyone find that part of book 3? i lost mine. In any event while i can't remember what she says i remember that it has to do with a falcon and an eagle. i always thought for a long time that the eagle would some how end up being berelain. But in book 11 we see perrin give up the flag of manetheran *IF* the seanchan choose to help him get back Faile. The flag was that of an eagle, and faile as we all know is the falcon. Was wondering if maybe *that* was what it meant. That he would have to choose between being lord of manetheran or havign faile as a wife

Most everyone who has adressed the subject seems to think that TG is anywhere from a month to perhaps 3 months away. If I read correctly she is at least 5-6 months away from giving birth the last time we see her. She is mentioned in the 3 in a boat viewing and seems to be counting on the babys protecting her. If TG is that close the babies may keep her from channeling but not from leading her army physically If it is further out who can say?

Will WOT become a world franchise like Forgotten Realms has with the land of Faerun . . . or the Star Wars books have with the whole galaxy at their disposal? I'm picturing a continuation of stories based on RJ's world. Not necessarily critical stories like the current books, but maybe a trilogy here and there by genre writers.

Ok, for years I have been hoping for a Wheel of Time movie, or even a good video game on consoles, something worth playing like Metal Gear Solid. Recently, I've been thinking that if indeed Wheel of Time was turned into a movie, I'd rather see it as a computer animated film, just because of how massive it is. However, thinking that there would be many films involved, I think it might work better as a TV series, each season could be each of the books, or maybe a mini-series. Of course, like many LOTR fans, we may end up seeing a live action version not quite like the books and they may not be able to pull it off like Peter Jackson did with Lord of the Rings. Howeve…

  23. I know there are many theories on this, but I have my own I'd like to throw out here, because mine is supported by many phrophecies, and directly opposed by none. Let's start with defining what LTT is. My theory is that LTT is an alternate personality of Rand's(Rand has sanity issues, whether because of the Taint or not) that managed to somehow aquire memories of Rand's past life as LTT. With those memories, that alternate personality "became" LTT. This goes with Semirhage's theory, though it is not a prophecy. Now for the good stuff. Let's start with Min's vison of Rand and LTT merging. She says one must die. My theory is that this means that Rand and LTT are i…

In TSR Melaine says she has spoken with Aes Sedai does anyone know when, why, how or who? The Aiel do not leave the waste except during the Aiel war and i dont think the wise ones went with them and Melaine wasnt a maiden of the spear so when did she speak with Aes Sedai before Moiraine came to the waste. I dont think any Aes Sedai have been to the waste or they would know about the wise ones being able to channel which they dont. This is probably a stupid question but its starting to annoy me so if anyone could help id be grateful. This is the quote its in beyond the stone, "Better, I have spoken with Aes Sedai. You coddle women in the tower"

Ok this has been bugging me for some time now. Maybe its been mentioned before, so sorry if I'm repeating the question. The ageless look that Aes Sedai get, does it only affect their face? Clearly their hair turn gray, but what about the rest of their bodies? My guess is that everything stops aging otherwise half the Aes Sedai should be on crutches. But still I dont think I fully understand this agelessness of Aes Sedai. :?

I was just wondering how the Seanchan ended up speaking in the English language as well as Randland. If they spoke the Old Tounge in Artur Hawkwing's time and they sailed across the ocean then what are the chances that they'd end up getting the exact same language as the Randland people? Anyone know how that happend??

Rand destroys the remaining seals. He dies somehow. The DO has claimed to have dominion over the dead. Let's say he wasn't lying. He thinks he owns Rand now, but something Rand learned while he was alive gives him the ability to keep on, but without the restraint of mortal flesh he is able to channel much more than is otherwise possible. He defeats/imprisons/whatever the DO. At the time of the DO's defeat Moridin escapes from the battle. In order to keep out of sight he turns to begging. Rand's link to him is the only pathway that Rand has to life and he takes that path. He infests Moridin's head like LTT did his, but with that experience he knows how to take ove…
