I was reading on a thread about Mat losing an eye, (Sorry, can't remember the name of the discussion), and someone brought up Egwene's dream, in this chapter: "Mat,weighing two Aes Sedai on a huge set of balance scales, and on his decision depended....She could not say what; something vast; the world perhaps." Well, obviously this doesn't have anything to do with whether or not Mat is going to lose an eye, but I got to thinking about it, and here is what I think...Mat really didn't WANT to rescue Joline and Teslyn. He really debated with himself and tried to talk himself out of it. (Edesina doesn't count in this, because Teslyn flat said she wouldn't go without her…

If you were Rand or Logain, since we are pretty sure Logain will do it. Logain already has an advantage since his group has bonded the 51 AS. But will that be enough? What other "tools/mechanisms" could he use, that RJ has provided in the books.

Ok, for along time I've been a member of the Graendal killed Asmodean camp, but due to a few recent revleations I must offically jump off that bandwagon. Although fans have gotten RJ to say perscious little about the identity of Asmo's murderer here is what he has said: 1. Very few people have sent him the correct answer. 2. All the clues necessary to figure it out are persent withing books 1-5. Fist lets examine the first point. From what I've seen on this website as well has what I've gleened from talking to WOT fans elsewhere it would seem that Graendal is one of, if not the most popular suspect. However, this does not match up with RJ's experience.…

So, some time ago on a particularily boring day, i had a flash of nerdyness and wrote out a summary of how i thought the plot of A Memory of Light would go. Since then i've changed my position on certain things (mostly because of you Robert! You knowledgeable bastard! :)) Anyway once again i find myself bored, so im going to go to the bad nerdy place again, and re-write my list. Preceding this i want to say that im working on the understanding that this is the last book. It is my belief, therefore, that the pace must increase, the threat of the shadow must increase, and that events must be happening concurrently, solving problems for me--this is the foundation for how…

Ok, so i never knew there was a cd of music for the books. Having read the other thread, i now know this  ANYWAY. What i want to know, is if each of the books were made into movies then what would you have on the soundtrack for any of them or what songs would you like associated with each of the characters. Basically it's just an excuse to throw bands and lyrics you like at the books 8) Alter Bridge - The End Is Here. I think this pretty much fits in just about anywhere and with alot of the characters. Endless day We search for what we hold inside So hard to find Luck turns Will the fallen ever reach within And rise again For the rest…

I have a problem with the woman in positions of power throughout Randland. Not because they are women but because as soon as they are put into a position of power they go into " Im in charge so do as I say" mode. Examples of this include Egwene, Nynaeve, and any Aes Sedai you care to mention. Versus the men who find themselves in charge. Rand steps forward and leads the Defenders of the Stone against the trollocs earning thier unquestioning loyalty. Perrin steps up in the Two Rivers and does what needs to be done and before he knows it the entire region is calling hom Lord. Mat Steps up and leads a group of Carheinen soldiers to victory when they were …

It was always Fains project to destroy Rands home to lure him back. He brought the Whitecloaks, but how did Slayer and the trollics get involved. Fain hates the DO almost as much as Rand. Who assigned the two of them to work together on Fains pet program, or was it some kind of private deal just between them. Is it possible that the two of them and perhaps Haran might have formed an independant and wild card power group ? Any body out there given this any thought or know where its already been covered ?

I'm reading The Dragon Reborn, and I came upon a chapter where Rand encounters a female merchant and her guards. Without hesitation, Rand chops off all their heads with a saidin-made sword, and then uses saidin to prop up their corpses to kneel to him. Two questions: 1. How did Rand know they were bad guys? (How do I know?) 2. What's with the weird bit where he poses their corpses? It's only book 3; he's already off his rocker?

I know this might start a bit of a controversy, but I believe that Robert Jordan has taken a lot of Pagan references and put them into the Wheel of Time series. As a Pagan I have noticed this, but that is not why I am starting this thread. I have noticed a lot of Paganism in Harry Potter as well, but not enough to call J.K. Rowling a Pagan. I don't believe that Robert Jordan is a Pagan, but I believe he knows a lot about it. For instance, at the end of Eye of the World, the characters meet the Greenman, a well-known Pagan God. The amount of women importance is also a Pagan reference, since Pagan's hold women higher. Like I stated before, it might be a bit controve…

I am curious as to why none of the Forsaken were able to sense the struggle between Asmodean and Rand at the end of book 4. I mean the scope they were playing with was basically equal to what Rand was using at the end of book 9 (Minus the Saidar part). Why didn't anyone come to see what was going on?

Hi All, just ringing in again after a few months. I am now on volume 7 (I think this is why they refer to books as volumes). I read them all before, but with no rememberance. I am just starting book 7 again and did not realize why I had loved them so much in the past. Now I know why. The Boys in the book are finally starting to stand up to the women. OK, sexist, but hey. All I know is that everytime a man said something thru book 5, it was wrong and the village Wisdom would correct them of it. I wanted to puke whenever RJ said how evil us men were. As soon as Rand started getting tuff and Reborn and all that glop, they all decided that his ears needed to be bo…

So, having begun rereading the books i came across something that hit me as a bit odd. I've had a hard week so forgive me if i've forgotten the evidence to back up my theory but something was said in one of the first 3 books that led me to believe that perhaps Logain may not turn out to be one of Rands saviours, instead he may be the one who kills our beloved dragon. We're all busy looking at Taim, but i think Logain may just prove to be a whole lot more important. Also, Moiraine. Is she dead? Could she perhaps return to save the day or maybe even return as a darkfriend? Who will survive to face the last battle and who will live through the fighting? I feel that …

Ok, so im going to ask that if at all possible this not turn into a who killed him discussion. I know thats asking a lot, but still... Anyway, when Asmodean was captured Lanfear claimed to have shielded him to a certain degree, and that the shield would fade. She claims that 'he will not be able to challange you for months'. However, a little over two months pass between then and Asmodeans death, and ostensibly we notice no change in the degree to which he could channel. So my question is this, did we see any signs of his ability increasing that i missed? Do you think Lanfear was lying? Or was Asmodean hiding it? It's a fairly pointless subject, i know. Bu…

When I started reading the books, my son was giving me his beautiful, pristine--complete with dustcovers--hardbacks he bought a few years ago. But, Hey, I'm old, have tendonitis, and by the time I was starting TGH, it was bothering me pretty bad (But of course, I couldn't stop reading!) So I ordered myself a complete set of them in paperback....Plus, by then I knew I would want to re-read them a time or six. Now I am careful with books, never bend the spine, always use a bookmark, etc. So, with my husband reading them, and my third re-read, they've been read a total of five times, and....they are falling totally apart!! At first I thought it was because they are s…

There seems to be a lot of hidden references to some pretty interesting topics concerning that of the The 12th Planet by Z. Sitchin. Battles in the clouds like the Olden Gods in their ships and the Two Rivers being a possible refence to Mesopotamia, the birthplace of the new colonies of Mankind and "Gods" or the Anunnaki, "those who from Heaven came to Earth" and naming Ba'alzamon in close relation to Ba'al Zaphon and Ba'al Hammon? Thoughts?

In Crossroads of Twillight, chapter 21 A Mark, we learn in Alviarin`s POV that the three Aes Sedai that`s from the Seafolk, all work in the Library, in the Thirteenth Depository, where the secret records are kept. The question is whether the Seafolk send girls to the Tower just to keep Aes Sedai away from the ships, and they just happen to choose the Brown Ajah and become keepers of the secret records, or do they have other reasons to send girls to become Aes Sedai? Why would the Seafolk be interrested in the secret records anyway? What else are they doing? Or is it all just a coicidence? Any theories out there?

OK... so I'm rereading the part where Mat, Thom, Tuon, and Selucia visit the hell. When they're leaving, they get into a little scuffle outside, resulting in Mat killing 7 guys with swords and Tuon saving him by killing a woman coming at him with a knife. He turns around and sees a dozen other dead guys where Tuon, Selucia and Thom were "having fun". Thom says to Selucia (not an exact quote)"I'm an old man and sometimes I see things I know couldn't have happened." She replys cautiously, "What do you think you saw?" He says, "I can't remember now and I think that's best." She nods at him. Soooooo... ??? Did Thom see Tuon Channelling or what?! Did Thom see…

Ok I didn't look through the pages of topics to make sure this wasn't already posted...so sue me! When Mat married Tuon in KOD he became the 'Prince of Ravens'. Who exactly is the Prince of Ravens? Becuase Tuon is the empress of the Seanchan, does that make Mat emperor due to male status? Or is he still in line behind Tuon for the Seanchan throne? I guess where I'm really tring to go with this is, does Rand want to set up a treaty meeting with Tuon, or Mat? Also maybe this will come in to play with Mat having to give up half the light of the world(Tuon IMO). Maybe he was 'destined' to rule the Seanchan, and for that to happen Tuon would need to be out of the …

Well here is what I have learned so far and a few theories of my own. Feel free to add on anything else. Also would appreciated comments on any errors i have made. 1.)Rand is of the royal blood line of caemlyn. - Rand's father was killed by Luc/Slayer who is Rand's Uncle. 2.)Elaida's Prophecy referred to Egwene. 3.) Taim/Mhael is Demandred. 4.) Logain will kill Demandred and take control of The Black Tower. 5.)Somehow Rand and LTT will merge, Min's Viewing in LOC. 6.)Rand's Schools will bring back most of the lost technology of the Age of Legends. 7.)Moridin is Ishamael. 8.)In order to reseal the Dark One's prison Rand must destroy the remaining seals. 9.…

In Winter's Heart Asne thinks to herself on how irritating Chesmal Emry is. She thinks on how often the women claims to have been a part of the questioning of Tamra Ospenya and inciting the murder of Sierin, the Amyrlin that followed her. Now whilst it is clear that Asne thinks this is boasting, she also thinks that Chesmal is in great risk should the Supreme Council hear of it, implying at least some threat. Moreover in New Spring it is Chesmal that announces the death of Tamra, supporting her involvement. Now Chesmal claims that she incited the Red to kill Sierin before the woman arrested as many as fifty black sisters. Even taking this as somewhat exagerated it…
