  1. After a recent rereading of The Great Hunt, I noticed something I was astounded I've never seen mentioned before. A clear and direct lie from either Verin or Moiraine. On page 231, directly after Perrin reveals his connection to the wolves in order to act as a tracker for Ingtar, Verin gallops up to join their party. Her first words: And then, at the end of the book (page 675)..as Rand is awakening from his second battle from with Baalzamon. Now, some could argue that the lie is on Moiraine's part. Purely out of a belief that Moiraine's actions have proven her loyolaties, I choose to think that it is on Verin's. So, seeing this clear contradicti…

About to re-read the Eye of the World and completely start over, hopefully getting further in the series than I ever have. However, would it be wise to start off with New Spring first? Love Always & Blessed Be, Xander

I recently went on amazon.com and i saw books like this: To The Blight : Part Two of 'The Eye of the World', The Beginning of 'The Wheel of Time' (Wheel of Time (Starscape)) - Robert Jordan; I was just wondering if these are real books by Robert Jordan that aren't exactly in the series or if its just something else all together? I don't want to order it if it has nothing to do with the series or anything

Seriously dont agree with you on this one RAW. Sorry I usually see where your coming from and mostly agree but this time I dont see how anyone can draw the conclusion that the Saa are a result of a fireball exploding in front of someones face. Rand and Moridin/Ishy are connected and it is supported that he is channeling the True Power when he looks at the sun that is shining 10 times brighter than it had which is also characteristic of holding the power, whether its the True Power or One Power, however it is supposed to be substantially more noticeable than the One Power. I think that Rand, through his connection with Moridin, seized the true power and tried to d…

So, how does everybody know his name if nobody ever says it? I doubt it's any widely read books and if spoken, in the presence of a very small audience. Granted, city folk would probably have a better chance of knowing the name. But what about Two Rivers? I doubt any person would teach their kid that name not to mention where anybody on the Women's Circle can hear it. Plus there's the additional thought that anybody who has said the name once probably wouldn't want to do it again since there are visible bad luck reprecussions to doing so. So, how does everybody seem to know the forbidden name?

I keep seeing very nice illustrations on the DM.com logo banner that look like they must have come from the graphic novel, but I haven't heard anything about it in a long time...did it ever get written/published?

I am a HUGE fan of Wheel of Time, from the first moment I laid eyes on the first book I new it was going to be special. I first started reading it in the summer of 1999 and immediately fell in love with it. I have read up to the 5th book, but I always get confused the further I read. I mean, yeah the story is complicated and engrossing, but thats not what confuses me. It's what happened in the previous books, there's no synopsis in the further installments. Jordan doesn't remind us of events that happened in the previous book that would help us understand what is going on in the new book. Small problem and no biggie, but is there a reference guide online that would help m…

I'm midway through CoT, so perhaps this comes up later, but it seems odd to me that ravens are Imperial symbols in Seanchan and hated spies of the Shadow in the rest of Randland. Are raven-spies nonexistent in Seanchan or something?

  13. Started by Anajon,

we have discussed this before the broken crown, I mean and the common understanding seems to be that it is the crown of Saldea and that Faile, who is the next female in the line of Royalty will be queen one day, soon. NOW, I was just looking around some WOT stuff and it hit me that in §Crown of Swords" the is a chapter called "A broken crown" - and Faile and Perrin are both there and have some major part in bringing Colaveare down who grabbed the crown of Cairhien - which gets broken and remade by Rand in the chapter. So - could this have been the crown Min saw? What about Faile's father mentioning The broken crown, just coincidence - or is it a play of words to c…

  14. Here a just a few idea that popped into my head as I've read the books: Mat: Seann William Scott (they'd have to die his hair but he has the perfect personality for Mat) Perrin: Tom Welling Egwene: Mila Kunis (think about it, she fits the description perfectly) Nynaeve: Liv Tyler Elayne: Kira Knightly Moiraine: Ema Thompson Lan: The Undertaker (I don't know it he can act but that's what I've always pictured Lan looking like, not in the Undertaker costume of course) Min: Mila Jovavich Thom Merilin: Sir Ian McKellen Ishmael: Christopher Lee Damondred: Alan Rickman Sammael: Keifer Sutherland Mordeth: Christopher Walkin Padan Fain: William Defoe Rhavin: Chri…

If you were a part of Randland, what would you be? No option of being aes sedai/ashaman or noble cos then everyone would pick those. These are all solid, down to earth jobs which everyday ppl in randland would be doing. People who aren't in the high intrigue of Rand's party, people who form Randland but you never care about really.

I'm new to the series, and after picking up EOTW at a bookstore a few weeks back, I've finished a book a week since...well until now. I'm now at about chapter 29 of Book 3 and I'm bored out of my mind. In the time its taken me to read the first two (because I COULD NOT put them down!) I've only read about 3 chapters of Book 3. For chapters now its been; Mat getting better, Mat getting better, Mat eating....a lot, Mat gambling....the girls scrubbing pots, looking for the Black Ajar, scrubbing pot. The back of a cereal box would be more interesting. Please, someone tell me this all picks up again soon. :?

I have read the series a few times, but one thing I guess I never paid enough attention to is the reasoning for Gawyn supporting Elaida. Did he support Elaida because he just disliked Suian so much? I know he doesn't like Suian because Suian always side stepped him when he tried to get information about Elayne's whereabouts. Is this the only reason? Or did I miss something?

Now all of our central characters have surrounded themselves with a menagerie of heroic do-gooders. And we know tha5t some of them are to be trusted less than the others. Rand has got Elza. Egwene had Halima, and Sheriam is seeming suspect. Elayne had Mellar and the interchangable Aes Sedai. Perrin has got shady Annoura and Masema. What i want to know is : who do we suspect of being a Darkfriend with Matt? Why? Personally, i can't think of anyone!

Ok, so Ive been rereading the series againg for 6th time so I can catch up for the next installment. I whipped through the first 3 books in 3 weeks. I am now trying to work my way through the first 200 or so pages of The Shadow Rising and am progressing at 1-2 pages a night maybe. Very good for sleeping. I had forgotten how cumbersome it could become if RJ got stuck. Like in Tear. I know it will get better, but it is still kind of painful.

Just a couple random things I came across while reading something else: Shaitan is Islamic for Satan, providing a basis for Shai'tan. The dream ter'angreal that Egwene, et al., use must have been based on a Mobius Strip. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C3%B6bius_strip I always had a hard time picturing what the ring with only one side would look like, and now I know! Anyone else notice anything else in the real world that was used as a basis for a character or object (or anything) in Randland?

I have just finished rereading the series but i didn't get to read teotw. Finally got my hands on a copy today and i noticed some little footnotes, one example being on page 103, at the end of Chapter 7 (Out of the woods). Now at 1st i thought they might be regarding to prophecies or some such, but i have no idea. Oh, and my copy of teotw is the 1991 orbit version, with Moiraine and Lan riding in front of a full moon on the cover.

Okay heres the smack down. Although we all thought Mat was the pimp, turns out Rand is the real hustla....three girls at once. Now we all know that aiel customs allow this kind of trigamy, but lets not be vulgar but practical...how the hell are they gonna sex? Ok so you can say they could change over each night yeah but up til now its been really uneven. I mean Avi had one totally hot night in an igloo and Elayne gets one in a proper bed but Min!!! shes totally hogging him eh? Now...why aren't the other two getting totally pissed? (and how are we to judge; none of us have 3 chicks at the same time...or if we do (lol you triple timers) they don't know about each other) …

OK what the hell. I've read the series only once but this is what I notced: First of all, shes so damn jeleous of Perrin about Berelain and everyone else, and he has to apologize to her constantly. Secondly, when she gets kidnapped by them Aiel she likes it when Roland (I think it was) slaps her bottom and pinches her. She flirts with him but is jeleous of Perrin. Does anyone else get annoyed/mad with Faile?

Now, ive read the series a couple times and im rereading it and i noticed that Lan's sword doesnt have the heron mark on it. Mind you he has killed 6 guys at once and has the skill to be a blademaster. I mean he trained Rand who killed a blademaster. However, theres no mention of him killing a blademaster or of him being raised to blademaster status by other blademasters. So is there any proof out there that Lan is a blademaster, or does he just have the skill to become one?

So I'm re-reading the series and I noticed something interesting as I was going through and I wanted to throw it out. I quote here from tEotW, Shadow Waiting, pg 289 in the paperback It mainly the last two sentences of that paragraph that triggered it. I found a strange similarity between how the men or Aridhol act and how a lot of the White cloaks act. I'm not going to post any spoilers, but I've seen some pretty terrible things done by the Children of the Light, in the name of the Light, that completely abandoned the Light. The party has a small run in with White cloaks in Baerlon a few chapters before reaching Aridhol, and Perrin and Egwene have an…
