i am rereading the all the books again, and i don't know y i didn't notice it but in the EotW when rand leaves to take on "ba'alzamon" he hears a voice in his head. it says "it is not there" "i will take no part. only the chosen one can do what must be done, if he will" "not here" is it just me or does that sound a lot like the creator is speking to rand? (the whole i will take no part makes me think so) if so does he ever speak again?

It was awful. Robert Jordan had written himself in as the Creator (kind of like Vonnegut in Breakfast of Champions, which is my favorite book, but in this series, no) and it was also completely set in modern times. Like, Rand and RJ were riding around in a white Ford pick up truck and Mat was drinking Red Bull and vodka. Very bad dream.

Greetings to all, I have been reading this site for quite a while but this is my first actual post. I did not find this on any previous thread, but apologies in advance, in case I missed something. So, with greetings AND apologies out of the way, here's my question: In Path of Daggers, Rand gets a message from Taim talking about the numbers currently enrolled at the Black Tower. At the end, Taim writes something like: "I harvested that blackberry bush myself. A small bush, and thorny, but surprisingly (fruitful??) for it's size." To what is he referring? Rand seems to understand what he's talking about, and although I've read the books several times I …

Midway through CoT, it occured to me that the people of the Kaensada Hills in Seanchan sound rather like Aiel--feuding clans/tribes, odd customs, considered savage by outsiders. I'm not implying that these two groups are related, but do you think RJ meant them to be similar?

If you haven't already done so, please click up top and go to Robert Jordan's blog to see his new idea. A great charity cause. http://www.dragonmount.com/RobertJordan/

That's right. It's February of 2007, and I've only just now finished reading the WoT books despite having been introduced to them by friends back in '93 or so. Though intimidation over page-count back then kept me from reading, I eventually picked up a copy of EotW in '05 and was instantly hooked, once I was able to get myself past the Prologue. Over a year later of (almost) constant, paced reading - I'm sorry, but some of those books were just plain boring - and KoD is back in its dust cover, my bookmark that got me through these twelve books patiently waiting for the final installment. And after spending about a year and a half reading The Wheel of Time, what wer…

In the top left corner of the Dragonmount site, there is a random drawing of different WoT characters. Whenever I see the one of Mat with his cowboy-looking hat and his fox medallion, I always think it is a woman. For some reason, I've always immediately thought of Min. I can't fix it in my head that it is Mat, even though I've studied the picture, and I can see his foxhead medallion, his scarf, his hat, etc. It just looks like a girl to me! Actually, I don't know who most of those characters are, except for Nynaeve with her ki'sain and Rand with his red coat and reddish colored hair... Does anyone else have this problem, or is my brain just broken?

Okay, so I was reading KoD and I got to the part where Elayne discovers Aviendha has a Talent for knowing what Ter'Angereals do. It brought up a slender, flexible stick of some sort that Avie said brought pain when she touched it. Elayne said Nynaeve had already told them that, etc. which made me think back. I think it was in Tel'aran'rhoid that Nynaeve was looking at Ter'angereals on pedestals or something like that and she touch one and recoiled, saying that it felt like pain. As far as I remember, Elayne didn't get the same reaction when she handled it. So, did Nynaeve touch other things and feel what sensations they were associated with? If yes or no, does that …

well really its how Rand prevents him from breaking free again... (spoilers from previous books below) we all know that history repeats itself in randland, because of the wheel of time so: the dark one is prisoned, prison is broken, dark one is prisoned again, the dark one is prisoned, prison is broken, dark one is prisoned again, the dark one is prisoned, prison is broken, dark one is prisoned again....... you get the idea, so what if Rand was to break the wheel of time.... somehow make time go forward instead of circles how he would do this i have no idea, maybe balefire? anyways so what do you guys think of my theory?

OK, well I dont know about you peoples, I read the series only once but I trully despise Elayne. I mean, it aggrivated me so much the way she treated Mat, how she sees him as a 'loyal sybject' and whatnot. I found myself reading and hoping that in some miraculous way she will die... I still hope she dies... I guess some can defend her in some ways, though I doubt I will change my mind on how much i want somethin to happen to her, but I would like to see what all of you think about her and her attitude towards Mat.

Hey All! Recently I have been turned on to listening to books on Audio. I have read WoT several times and decided it would be fun to listen to it. So far it's been a great series. Michael Kramer and Kate Reading perform for all the books so there is great consistency. They also do an excellent job! I have bought all the books on CD except one. A Path of Daggers. For reasons unbeknownst to the cosmic order of things, this ONE book was not released in CD audio format (so I assume). It is apparently out on cassette (like what am I going to do with cassette tapes?! Ew.), but not CD. My question is, Has anyone out there found this book on CD (unabridged …

Sorry of this one has already been hashed out... I have only recently began reading the BWB. I am still not all the way through it, but I did just finish reading the section on Hawkwing. It is mentioned that he (possibly) didn't begin his seige on Tar Valon until he had a new "advisor." Not much is known about this "advisor," but it is mentioned that he supposedly didn't age during the 20(?) odd years that he was with Hawkwing. It also goes on to say that all the leaders that he "advised" after Hawkwing, didn't fare too well. Then he just up and disappears. Who was this mysterious "advisor?" Can it be assumed that he was Ishamael (as it has been argued th…

Hi all, New to the boards. I am re-reading from book 1 and am about halfway thru book 5 now. This is my sixth time reading thru. Am I the only dork out there who prepares to read a new installment by reading the first ten volumes? Just to remember? Ive read about 3000 pages since Jan 1st and still cant remember half of it. Anyway, I know I always kinda disliked it, but I guess I have to come out and say it after reading George Martin's Fire and Ice series. Why cant Jordan relax his grip on male/female relationships? Why are the women always so friggin uptight or cast in such a bad Light (no pun) in the WOT? As I remember after reading 15000 pages or so, only Perr…

I don't know if this has been posted or not, but in tEotW when Perrin, Egwene, and Elyas are in the Traveling Peoples' camp Raen tells them about the dying Aiel maiden and the Eye of the World he says: "Leafblighter means to blind the Eye of the World, Lost One. He means to slay the Great Serpant. Warn the People, Lost One. Sightburner comes." Here RJ first tells us the Aiel are the People of the Dragon. At first I thought it meant nothing, but because People is capitalized it is short for People of Dragon. I'd like to know what you guys (or gals) think this right.

So when I first read the series I read: The Two Rivers Book 2 Book 3 etc etc finished book 11 now. Rather than The Eye of the World then the other books. MEANING, i've missed the book To the Blight. So yesterday I got Eye of the World out of the library, started reading from halfway through. So now I'm almost at the end and thinking WTF is going on?! What is with the strands coming out from the forsaken etc? Completely don't understand that. Anyone can shed some light (no pun intended) on the situation please? Cheers

"He, the Inquisitor, ought to be diligent and fervent in his zeal for religious truth, the salvation of souls, and the extirpation of heresy. In presence of difficulties and reverses he ought to remain calm, and never give way to anger or indignation. He ought to be fearless, facing danger up till death; but while not flinching in the presence of peril, he ought not to hasten it by unreflecting boldness. He must be insensible to the prayers and advances of those who endeavor to persuade him; nevertheless he must not harden his heart to the point of refusing delays or relaxations of punishment, according to circumstances and places. . . . In doubtful matters he must be cir…

We were discussing the Rand and Cadsuane thing, about him needing respect and all that, and someone mentioned Mat meeting Cadsuane... Well, I'm not sure it's that likely to happen, but oh well... Mat stalked into the room glaring around, Tuon and bloody Selucia at his heels. The bloody woman seemed not to have a thought beyond shadowing Tuon, even when Mat was with her alone. As if he was a danger to her. He glared around, saw Nynaeve in one corner, listening deferently if with a stiff face to an Aes Sedai occupied with needles and thread. She-the bloody Aes Sedai-looked like she chewed rocks and drank stones. Nynaeve probably was still playing at being Aes Se…

A friend gave me an idea I am trying to research. Is it possible for Olver to be Gaidal Cain reborn? The books tell us Gaidal Cain has been reborn, but he was at Falme when Mat blew the horn... this is the last I remember there being solid evidence he had not been reborn yet. So, supposing he was born the day after... could he be Olver? I am having trouble figuring out how many years it has been from the last appearance of Cain. I am trying to see if that amount of time matches up with Olver's age. When Mat first meets Olver he guesses his age at about 6 or 7. Let me know what you think, or any information you may have. P.S. I did a little research on the web, a…

http://www.filecabi.net/video/monkey-headtransplant.html I'm serrious... If the body is screwing up why should doctors not be able to remove the heads of brain dead patients and put on healthy heads of people who's brains are still perfect. Wasting a perfectly good body to me seems unethical. The only problem seems to be in severing the spinal cord, which is on the way to being repaired with current research anyway. I'd rather be a quadrapalegic(sp?) than dead... that's for sure. Especially when I'd only have to wait a decade or two for them to finish the technology to give me control of my body.

I have a huge question. Do the Aiel have pipers that play them into battle? It says they do in the glossary but I can't actually find an instance in which they do in the actual book. You see, me and my friend have been having a disagreement about whether they do or not and for some reason he won't accept the glossary as proof that they do... can someone help me?

How did the Forsaken learn the "new" language after they were released into the world? They never speak with any trace of awkwardness ("I will... what is word? Uh... kill! Yes. I WILL KILL YOU!") or residual accent from having learned a new language. Aginor and Balthamel pop up in EotW and can speak (well, Aginor at least) and understand the "New Tongue" (which I understand to have sprung up well after the AoL) with no noticeable hitches. Within months after that, all the other Forsaken are out and about, slipping into their new identities as nobles and whatever else. But no issues with a language barrier are ever brought up in any of their PoVs. (OT remark: best …

I'm doing another re-read and I came across a question last night, and was wondering if I had caught an RJ mistake or if I'm just remembering wrong. The longing came about because during and after the breaking the Ogier couldn't find any Steddings. In the Eye of The World when Loial was explaining the Ways to the group he stated that during the breaking the Ogier sheltered male Aes Sedai inside the Stedding to help them to not go mad. As a reward for this sheltering, the male Aes Sedai made them the Ways and the Talisman of Growing so they could grow new Way Gates to connect the steddings. One of the advantages of the ways is that they weren't really connected t…

So a friend and I were discussing the Aiel the other day, and we remembered the functions of some societies, but not all of them. All we know the common knowledge that is oficially given in the Compendium. Here is what we know: The Far Dareis`Mai are well known for their expert scouting abilities...and, of course, they are the only warrior society with women (and only women are in the society). The Shae`en M`taal (Stone Dogs) function as a sort of rear guard during battle or when a group is retreating. The Aethan Dor (Red Shields) are the so-called "police force" for the Aiel clans. Duadhe Mahdi`in (water seekers) specialize in finding water, as their name suggests. …

Ok, so the WoT game made for PC (based off of Unreal Tournament) is pretty bad. I've played it and it wasn't very good. Everything was linked to Ter'angreal and it wasn't very player friendly at all. Now I was thinking something. I saw an add for the Nintendo Wii game Red Steal. And my first thought was "Wii-le of time"... Owning a Wii, I can see it being pretty cool to have a game, using the nunchuk-style controller, and using hand gestures and such to weave, rather that having a specific ter'angreal selected and only being able to use it. Does anyone think that would be cool? Also, are there any decent games with any sort of story-line that are good?

Well, first of all plz dont shank me or somethin if this has already been talked about. And secondly, join in and enjoy. My first question will be; to what character are you most alike, who do you look like, act like, smell like? ...etc... If you cannot be compared to anyone... then which character would you like to be (characters that are presently in the story... ...and why... :D
