Does everyone hate him? I love him. Almost all of the sections of the book with him in it, I like him or feel sorry for him. Yet, everyone seems to hate him and wants him to die in AMOL. So, just out of curiosity--do all of you hate him? If so, why--and why do you think he'll die? :)

Why does Logain refuse to believe that Rand has cleansed Sadin? He must have spoken w/Cadsuane, the other Aes Sedai (who cannot lie), and the Asha'man present when the cleansing took place. A few times in KoD (Once speaking to Rand, once w/the Mistress of the Ships)he refers to the "Creator showed us mercy" in regards to Sadin. Is he being stubborn or does he not care to know the real reason (Ignornace is bliss??) Any thoughts?

We all know R.J.’s love of describing characters to the bone. I want to know whether you don’t find it strange that he has never mentioned Rand’s exact hair color. I mean, I’ve checked in the books, and in most descriptions Rand is said to have dark reddish hair, or simply hair with a reddish tinge to it. I can’t remember seeing anywhere it says reddish blond or reddish brown hair, and IMO it could be either. Anyone has? Tell me. Yet in most of the pictures of him I’ve seen he has reddish blond hair. But hey, then again I can’t trust the artists, I mean, Perrin is supposed to be very large and with shaggy brown curls, but on the covers―if that’s him, tha…

Hi Everyone, Long time fan and reader of 11 of the WoT books, waiting for A Memory of Light for christmas. Now I have contacted serveral sites with no responses so I thought I would go one short of contacting RJ himself and post on this forum. I know along time ago a game was created by Legend in 1999. Myself and a University freind are seriously (and I mean seriously) considering attempting to create a WoT MMORPG (obviously we would need permission to do so) as a commercial venture to present to a large studio (EA etc) next summer. Basicly the only doubt or question we have at the momment is if we make the book (the main story) into a playable one pla…

New here so don't know if this has been brought up before, who will die in the final book? They can't all survive that would be boring. Rand, I reckon, then will be resurrected. He's got a lot of Jesus in him (no blasphemy intended) the wound in his side, the heron marks on his hands (retrospective of the crucifiction marks and will be how they identify it's really him I think), the crown of swords saviour of the world etc... Mat, dunno. Perrin, hope so. He pisses me off for some reason. Elayne, could be. Thats why Mins viewing of Avienda and her babies was off. 2 were Elaynes and she's dead. Faile, pisses me off more than Perrin so hope so too. Lan, Nyn. Doub…

Way back in "The Great Hunt", we have the DF kaffeklatch, wherein we meet Bors/Carridin and learn of nefarious doings afoot. In the course of that exposition, Bors notes many of the people present and makes his own deductions about who they are. Have we learned anything since then that will identify any of those DF? Do we have any idea who she might be? Any guesses here? How about this one? Ingtar, or somebody else? ???? What about this bunch? One of these is almost certainly Alviarin, but who is the other?

    I know, I know; you say Toe-mart-o I say Toe-mate-o. Anyways I was looking through the glossary and I realized how badly I've been pronouncing things! Here are a few examples (Glossary spellings are bracketed): Egwene= Egg-ween (eh-gwain)and I have a friend who says it's eh-wain. :? Nynave= Nigh-na-eve (nigh-neev) Caemlyn= Kay-em-lin (kaym-lihn) Birgitte= Ber-jit (ber-geet-teh) Cairhien= Care-hi-en (keye-ree-ehn) Damane= Da-mane (dah-mah-nee) Gaidin= Guy-din (gye-deen) Moiraine= Moy-rain (mwah-rain) And the al to me it's just al but the glossary says Ahl- I feel swamped with h's! So how do the rest of you pronounce things?

I'm not sue if this is correct; but doesn't it say somewhere that the Dragon has do die????????? If that was the case it would mean that LTT would die and finally be able to rest in peace. I say this because LTT is THE DRAGON and Rand is the Dragon Reborn. Hopefully you get what I'm saying as I haven't really thought about this and I don't have my books on hand.[/b]

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I just joined the boards here :P and did a search without finding anything. I was just rereading KoD and had a "oh yeah, Duh!" moment. At the end of chapter 6, Mat walks into Tuon's wagon where he finds Noal talking about the lands beyond the waste. Mat asks Noal if he is related to Jain Farstrider (which we all pretty much agree he is). Noal responds that he is a cousin and goes on to say "He was a foul...He let himself be made into a tool by---". We know that Jain was a DF or used by the Forsaken/DO. However, immediately after he stops speaking, "Abruptly Noal's face went blank. Staring through Mat, he rubbed at …

  15. Here goes: Rand must break the seals to set the DO free in order to make a new, stronger prison. This he does with the help of Alivia, who he links with. Together they draw massive amounts of both sides, and turning Shayol Ghul into the DragonRebornMount. As for Rand, he is burned out. Without the power one feels "dead", so in this sense he dies. But he does not physically die. Without power he cannot lead, and this is where Logain takes power, achieving his glory.

Hey, from the "Totally Trivial" department... I just finished watching "For a Few Dollars More," the spaghetti western staring Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef. And it struck me how RJ's imagry of Mat matched Clint in that movie. For those who haven't seen it, Clint takes a wound in the neck and goes the last half of the movie with a black scarf tied tightly around his neck. And of course he wore his signature wide brimmed hat. I exclaimed "Hey it's Mat!" Anyway... it's probably just a coincidence, but maybe it's a RJ homage to Clint and/or spaghetti westerns? And for the sake of coversation, has anyone else noticed similarities between movie imagery and R…

I ahve this theory that saidin isnt fully cleansed, due to 2 reasons. 1. Padan fain and the dagger. Both of them carries the taint of shadar logoth. 2. The wound in Rand's side also contain the taint. So untill these 2 things are removed I dont think it is fully cleansed and perhaps there is a risk that the taint will be fully restored. Especially if Padan fain survives the last battle, then he can do what Mordeth once did.

Who else would like to see Tam take a high place in Rand's army for TG? We know he was a high ranking soldier before he found Rand, and was also a blademaster, so he has the qualifications. It could also work into Cadsuane's plan to teach Rand to laugh and cry again. Being around somone he loves so much could do that, even though he knows now Tam isn't his real father.

  20. Ok this theory of mine has a lot of loopholes so I was hoping u guys could help me out with it. Ok as we all know Cadsuane and one of the Wise Ones(Amys i think) wants to teach Rand laughter and tears again. Now if we think back the last time Rand cried was Moiraine's death. The last time Rand laughed was when he saw Min again in Cairhien. And we know that Moiraine is gonna come back in the last book(hopefullly). So if Cadsuane and Amys were to somehow meet Moiraine before Rand and make an entrance together with Elayne in Arad Doman when Rand is gonna do something particularly cold-hearted, maybe he will cry tears of joy when he sees Moiraine and laugh when he finds out h…

Aite. This prob has been discussed b4 but i want to discuss it so there! So we have this game that no one can ever win or finish yeah? It is linked to the Eelfin/Aelfin. Does anyone have a theory on what significance it actually has? Do you think Mat will actually finish the game somehow? Personally, i think its gonna be the climax of Mat's luck when he actually finishes the game. All that talk about losing an eye...gotta be something to do with the weirdos through the doorways. Anyone think that they can only see through eyes of taveren? Like all those memories Mat has yeah, i think they're all from men who were tavaren. But there shouldn't just be this game an…

Hi. I'm new to this forum and this is my first post, though I've definitely enjoyed reading everyone's comments and ideas. This is hands-down my favorite fantasy series, which I have just recently reread (again) in order to put the events of book 11 into context. Reading all the books in quick succession, however, highlighted something that's been bothering me throughout this entire series - the female characters. Why is just about every female character written as manipulative, controlling, eye-rolling, and so incredibly patronizing toward men (not to mention bitchy as hell towards every other woman)? Don't get me wrong, these qualities certainly suit individ…
