I just wanted to say Robert Jordan, that reading your blog, despite the tough times you face you are an inspirition. I was reading about your wolfman antics and laughed and your boxing analogy. It made me smile inwardly that here is another person who understands life =) I know that it shows through in all your writing. Its what writers are. Best wishes.

I recalled reading the Great Hunt book and the Crown of Swords where Mat remembered his time from sounding the Horn. There were two people that were brother and sister. One will herald the end of the Age and the other one will sound the new Age. I could not help but think that perhaps that's what Elayne's CHildren will turn out to be, the heralds of an end to an Age and to a beginning of a new Age. What do you think?

I have always been curious if the whole dying and the day dawning twice thing could be attributed to the Horn. Lets say Rand, all jacked up like he is now, goes to the last battle. He has a hard time, gets killed. Mat blows the Horn. The heros come. The Fog from the horn makes the sun go away, and when it clears there are the heros (including Rand), standing there, healthy again, ready to bring the fight back to the DO. This going over how he dies, how he comes back, and the day dawning twice. I have moved alot recently, and dont have my books on hand. Can anyone reference how it mentions the first time the horn was blown and how it effected the light from the su…

Re-reading the series again (on TFoH), I think if I hear Nynaeve or Elayne "sniff" one more time, I'm going to hurl this book across the room. I like them, I do... but at the moment I'd like to strangle those wool-brains. I could play a drinking game and take a shot everything I read about them sniffing. I'd have to buy out all the alcohol in the party store... Oh, nothing important about this post... just complaining...

Is there some link between women who have the spark and women who can learn to channel and damane and suldam? I have feeling that there must be.

We know that men channel saidin, while women channel saidar (unless they are a forsaken male soul put into a female body). My question is, where would hermaphrodites (or people with ambiguous sexuality, sex organs, or gender) fall in this system? Would they simply have an equal chance of ending up as either Saidar or Saidin?

Hey hey what's up? Haven't read "Knife of Dreams" yet, so I haven't scoured these forums as much as I could have (don't want to spoil it) so I don't know if it's been discussed before, but I'm re-reading the series before I get to KoD ('cos I've forgotten too much...almost done with TSR now) and I've noticed two funny (to me, at least) errors. I know a lot of FAQs bring errors up, but I haven't seen these anywhere: -In "The Great Hunt" Ragan has the triangle-shaped scar on his cheek from the Trolloc arrow, but in "The Dragon Reborn," it jumps off of his cheek to Masema's...interesting! -It's Jain Farstrider in every book but TDR...there it's JaiM Farstrider. Di…

I was just thinking about TGH and this suddenly came to my attention. Where the hell did Hurin go? i kinda liked that dude and he was in book 2 and that's it. Anyone have any ideas of his whereabouts? " they are on their knees, Aes Sedai!. Kneel!" - The lord of the Dawn

Hi, first post, and I'm not sure if this is common knowledge, but I'd like to post what I figured out last night. In ACoS, when Mat is at the horse races and spots the darkfriend 'Shaeine' (sp?), he also sees a bent-backed, broken-hook-nosed, gap-toothed, white-haired old man. The same old man turns up again later, and gives Mat the information that it is Jaichim Carridin who resides in the palace that Shaeine has lead Mat to. Later, we get a POV from an unidentified man sitting on top of a barrel outside the house where some Aes Sedai, Black Ajah, are residing in the city. When I first read this POV, I was puzzled as to who it would be, and settled on Chel Va…

I wondered...can a Forsaken return to the Light? In principle, it seems possible but extremely slim. The title "In Memory of Light" got me thinking on this far-fetched notion. Destroying or stilling is the prime directive toward any Forsaken. After all, what justice is there for a Forsaken? However, killing them doesn't seem to be a good answer...we know they return unless balefired. But if one or several could be turned, that would be a massive blow to the DO's efforts. It would also open up a a ton of story possibilities, maybe too many. It would take extraordinary measures/powers to protect the ones turned. And, who could trust them unless there were…

I did a brief search, but did not see the answer to this question. Sorry if it's redundant. I just finished reading book 1 and I looked up Ba'alzamon on encyclopaedia-wot.org; it says he is Ishamael. Does that mean that Ba'alzamon is not the dark one? or is Ishamael another name for the dark one? Thanks for any help.

To start off, I know there is a lot of speculation on this subject, so I don't intend it to be 100% correct. This is mostly for myself as I was thinking about it in regards to a video game, but I figured the subject itself would be of interest to the whole community. Think of this like a science class discussing the mechanics of channeling, flows, weaves, etc. from an observable methodological perspective. Threads of the power What does channeling look like to the channeler, visually speaking? My understanding is that flows of the power look like translucent threads of the various colors (corresponding to the elements). What color are they? Green-Earth, Wh…

Ok, this has been a pet peeve of mine. It keeps flairing up when I read any of the WoT websites. Why on earth does everyone think that Mat is going to lose an eye? Yes, there has been dreams and visions showing him with out an eye, gambling with an eye, etc. That doesn't mean he is going to lose his eyes or even one of them. If you look at all of Egewens dreams they are all metephoric or if not exactly metephoric, they are definately up to interpretation. Min's viewings are all left to her interpretation and she doesn't even know what all of them mean. If she does know what it means then she knows it will happen. I have seen no substantial evidence to sugg…

I think we may see Grendeal disposed of in the prologue. In an Elayne PoV after Rand loses his hand in KoD we see her wondering about Rand's location and activities. She says that he was to the south east at which point he lost his hand, and then he was more distant to the north west, which is the direction of Arad Doman, Grendeal's location.

Ok. When Rand BF'd Rahvin in TFOH, the thread was burned back to the point that Mat and Aviendha and the others were still alive. Not a short period of time since he had to chase Rahvin around through the palace. He channeled through the fat little man Angreal, which he said in TGH wasn't very powerful. My question is do we know how much power equates to how much thread burn? What would happen if Rand channeled Balefire through the Choedan Kal?

Okay the rules are simple, they have to be directly related to Wheel of Time not as the book like you buying AMoL but as the world and the dream shouted prophecy. For instance I was standing within the ruins of some sort of building, white marble rubble strewn everywhere and only the hollow husk of the building remained. Then I see a sea of green flowing rapidly down a slope heading towards a large body of water that went right up to the ruins of the building like some sort of boat ramp. However the sea of green were countless women in green dresses rushing downwards towards the water's edge. Suddenly I'm at the front line and before me on motorized boats carry…

Kari al'Thor ,,, Rand al'Thors Adotive Mother was a Darkfriend,,, she was ordered to kill him and she refused and for that reason the Evil One had her killed, but he kept her soul until Rand freed her by severing the Connection between her soul and the Evil One (The Eye of the World, chapter 51 near the end of the Chapter) She confessed her dabbling with evil in her weakness and being caught by it.

Nations or types of people. I love the Aiel. They remind me of Native Americans. They are a very hard and rugged people. Their customs are very different from the 'wetlanders', which makes them very interesting. I love how in Aiel society the Wise Ones are held in high regard and are essentially the boss. Anyone else agree or disagree?

It takes 13 Fades and 13 Aes Sedai to turn someone to the shadow against their will. So could it be that there is a way of turning people back to the light, who wish to come back?? Or is their a way to turn someone to the light against their will??? Your thoughts....

Afternoon all, Another newbie to the site... :D I read CoT when it first came out and then had the usual wait for the next book, KoD, to arrive. I bought KoD and then New Spring when they first came out but I've only just got round to reading NS. It has drawn me right back into it all and I picked KoD up straight after finishing NS. Trouble is, it's been years since I read the last book and I've forgotton who anybody is, where they are or what's going on. :( I read the glossary and little things kept popping back from my memory but I still don't have much of a clue. I don't know whether to stick with it and muddle through in the hope that things will ret…

I know that there have been several threads similar to this, but I haven't seen quite this take on it yet. I was just thinking of the main characters who haven't met for a long time, and the main people that came to mind were Egwene and Perrin. After all, in book 1 they are pretty close, especially in the whole whitecloak/Elyas scene. Now, unless I'm forgetting something, they haven't met since the beginning of tSR in the Stone of Tear. That's about 7 books in which they haven't met or spoken at all. What do you think a meeting with them would be like? What will Egwene think of him being "Lord of the Two Rivers"? And what other meetings are you looking forward to…

If this has already been discussed, please don't throw Darkhound blood at me. Which couples do you think are most realistic? Weirdest? Funniest? You can also make up couplings (Sevanna + Daved Hanlon, for example)

I've looked and looked, here and elsewhere, but can't find an answer to a little question that popped into my head while reading CoT. How is it possible for an Aes Sedai, collared as damane but sworn on the Oaths, to be used to kill with the OP? The a'dam seems to only be able to cause extreme discomfort/pain to the collared, and enables the bearer to control the flows. Wouldn't the Three Oaths prevent the Aes Sedai from embracing the Source at all if she knows it's about to be used to kill non-Shadowspawn? And whatever means of torture are used by the sul'dam to force the Aes Sedai's hand, it doesn't seem even torture could make an AS break an Oath. What's mor…

Their prophecy says almost all of them shall perish and the smallast drop in the sea shall survive. I know this isnt the exact wprding but I dont have books with me. But I just struck me. What if Shaido are the ones that will survive and the other dies? They are very few left and they are going back to the three fold land in KoD. I hope this isnt soo since I hate shaido...but it can be a possibility.

We know that the Prophecy states that whoever draws out Callandor after Rand put it back in the Stone will follow after him. I guess Narishma fits the bill in both ways, but doesn't that seem a little anti-climactic? All Narishma said was "Your wards and traps could have killed me," or some such, and Rand says, "Well, you made it." After all his studying of the Prophecy, it seems a major letdown that Rand didn't once think about Narishma following after him. Thoughts? Suggestions? Flaming?

Does feminism exsist in this world? Does the exsistence of strong female characters in the story automatically remove the possibility of such an attitude? Do all women pull their braids if they're angry? What the heck is a *sniff* anyway? To answer a few of my questions: Does Feminism exsist To a point. My first thought is to suggest that all Aes Sedai are feminists since they think they know better then any man on anything. That would be incorrect however as Aes Sedai simply think they know better then EVERYONE, male or female. I think there is a general attitude present in women that's not there in men though. The idea that "light men a…
