Well, none of the main characters are borrowing from just one god, they are put together from a number of different sources.

 

For example Rand, inspired by both Tyr and king Arthur, and several other less known.

Indeed. For instance; Quan Yin and Avalokiteśvara (Rand and LTT, respectively).

Well, I just felt that Perun was closer to Perrin than Thor, and so that's why I offered him instead of Thor. Like you said though, many different sources are used for each character so it doesn't really matter.

Avalokites'vara since the propper form isn't supported.

I find comparing the characters to Norse gods interesting considering Rand's last name is al'Thor, meaning "son of Thor". There are many references throughout the series of Rand as "the storm". Sorry to go off-topic...
