Is there anyone who sees a pattern that indicates who Egwene may have been in some of her previous lives? Since channeling is soul-related, this apparently means that someone who can channel will always be born into a body that has the right genetics for channeling. Following this logic, one can assume that in every incarnation she was an extremely powerful channeler. Is it just me or does the story of her life eerily parallel that of several past heroine Aes Sedai? Especially the Queen of Manetheren (in the top echelon of channeler strength during her lifetime, married to her royalty husband, Amrylin rival (Elaida) who was jealous of her strength, went berserk in battle …

It was rly rly rly sweet of the Dark One to resurrect her in the proper body, tbh ;u; Like, seriously, what a thoughtful dude. It kind of sucks that the transition process in WoT involves... y'know, death, but I mean. You do what you gotta do.

Out of all the people in the WOT, who do you think it the person it would of been the worst to be. For me it would have to be Jaichim Carridin: The man was basically set up to fail. You are told by your boss to go to one place to spread chaos. Then given orders by Ishy. The ordered to kill Rand by someone else, which is going be nearly impossible for him to do. You are told a member of you family will be killed and that a fade has already killed one of your sister. Then the BA show up and demand you do what they say, preventing you from doing your other orders. Only to have your boss then send you to Ebou Dar to cause more mischief so after you get there Sammu…

It took me reading the WOT companion to finally know who this was in the TFOH when I did a reread. When Graendal arrived to the meeting with Rhavin and the others. Rhavin noticed "Oddly, a lean old man, in a wrinkled coat sat disconsolately among the performers." That was Jain/Noel. All the time reading the series I wondered who he was since RJ made that subtle thing to point it out.

Canon: The Wheel of Time® the main storyline including The Eye of the World The Great Hunt The Dragon Reborn The Shadow Rising The Fires of Heaven Lord of Chaos A Crown of Swords The Path of Daggers Winter's Heart Crossroads of Twilight Knife of Dreams New Spring: The Novel is still canon, but if there is any contentious issue, then Book 1-11 > NS. Almost canon: I am an unequivocal supporter of the view that the text must speak for itself. Nonetheless, we are lucky, because we have guiding marks/stars. RJ's blog, interviews with him, notes etc. While these things are very important, life proved that fans often can come up with 'better', 'more believable' explanati…

Rand, Perrin and Matt all get to have some really epic and awesome fight scenes to show how badass they are throughout WoT. But up until the very end (books RJ did not write) I don't recall there being a major fight scene for any of the women. Yes, we might occasionally get a Rand chapter where it's mentioned off hand that Egwene or Moraine is shooting something but that's really about it. You never get anything along the lines of Egwene blasting a load of Seanchan or Trollocs with a fireball; whilst Rand does this all the time. Which is odd because Egwene is part of this Battle Ajah and takes great pride in this. Shouldn't fighting with magic be a prominent part of…

I dont know if this has been discussed before, but could it be Egwene is Eldrene reborn? This struck to me when reading EotW again. The similairities between Eldrene and Egwene are enourmous - both died from drawing too much of the One Power when they felt their husband/warder die. Both made sure the shadowspawn did as well before/during their death. She also 'almost' understood the Old Tongue and just knew some things she could do with the One Power (like 'hanging' her lightbulb on the wall). And then there's also their names. So what's your thought on this?

General Ideals and Purpose Servants of All The concept of an Aes Sedai is a fairly nice one. An authoritarian figure, highly trained and with access to great resources who is dedicated singularly to the greater good of society--presumably without personal agenda or bias--is a pretty utopian ideal. In modern times this is supplemented and upheld by the Ajah structure, which also is a pretty neat concept. Subdivisions each focused on serving the world in a specific way, thereby covering the smaller issues, yet still working in collaboration so as to also address the bigger picture. Consider--the knowledge of the Browns tempered by the cool reason of the …

Questions I've always wanted to ask... 1. Jordan always uses Oxford comma in the early books, then there are some changes in the middle/later books. Are these errors, or he just wants to give us a different accent, 'changing personality' ect? 2. When he uses more Scottish words in certain chapters, are these situations normal for you, or he just wants to give us a different accent, 'changing personality' ect? 3. 'round According to dailywritingtips.com: So, how do you see it? Iirc, Eg uses that form alot, then later others 'join' her. 4. Oh, one more question. Do you care about these differences at all? The third form is strongly miss…

i've been wondering when does rand first touch saidin? at first i thought it was at the end of EotW but when i reread it i found another part that might be it. When he confronts the white cloaks in baerlon it says, "A tingling thrill ran along Rand's arms and legs. He felt flushed, almost warm." then a paragraph later, "The tingling filled Rand; th heat had grown to a fever. He wanted to laugh it felt so good. A small voice in his head shouted that something was wrong, but all he could think of was how full of energy he felt, nearly busting with it. Smiling, he rocked on his heels and waited for what was going to happen. Vaguely, distantly, he wondered what it would be." …

I have been thinking about this for a while and I think that Nynaeve would be more of an threat than Egwene in a fight. I base this on 2 things, Nynaeves adaptiveness evidented by when she captures Mogh by swallowing her pride and coming up with quite the clever attack, and through her AS test we see her manipulating the 1000 weaves to destroy what was sent against her. The second part being that she can also attack blunt as Perrins Hammer, not to mention her obvious strength over Egwene. The advantages that Egwene has is that she has actual combat training (Seanchan episode) and more extensive training in TAR (which she failed to use during the ToM section until …

I have a Question, and dont agree with my friends... In your top 10, who´s the most powerful Aes Sedai in Rand al Thor times. Only in Saidar power, not talents, or quest, or any other achievement, Example: 1.Nynaeve al'Meara 2.Cadsuane Melaidhrin 3. Egwene al 'Vere Etc...

I have long been somewhat troubled by Cadsuane's sudden appearance. So much of later threads are forshadowed that (on third, fourth, and subsequent) read-thrus, I kept looking for some clue of her existence in earlier books. I haven't found any. Was she a "late addition", inserted to enhance the story, or have I missed something?

Reading EotW for at least the 6th time and this is the first time I noticed this... Rand is sitting on the palace wall watching the procession with Logain. It describes Logain's cage as having 2 sisters sitting at each corner and the Warders riding around the cart with the cage as if they were the only guards around. Then a few chapters later when the gang is all speaking in the Queen's Blessing, Moiraine states: "There are perhaps twenty Aes Sedai in Caemlyn at this moment, and every one but I of the Red Ajah." If all the Aes Sedai guarding Logain are Red, then where did all the Warders come from? Reds never have Warders. I find it hard to believe that Aes…

I am trying to decide on some designs for some custom made Yeti style cups. My original idea was to get 4 made. One will have dice with the phrase "Dovie' andi se tovya sagain", and one will have the iconic snake eating itself thru the wheel. I have also tossed around the idea of a red hand , Je'Toh, or perhaps the phrase found at the beginning of each book. In any case, I am curious as to what designs/phrases you, the community, think would be cool on them. Regards, Steve

Having only read the first 3 books (to this point) I apologize ahead of time if RJ brings this up later in the books - however, I was wondering just how many people are actually alive during the books. I mean - to the characters point of view (having lived in a "small village") any city would of course seem "huge" to them. However, just how huge? Are we talking thousands, millions...... billions? When RJ goes on about the crowds of Tar Valon, Illian, Andor, etc I am always picturing a scene much like New York City. Its the random small things that cross my mind having read so far.

There are many (2 ) similarities between WoT and Jane Eyre. The beggar's path vs Rand and Mat in TEOTW, or when Jane reunites with Rochester vs Rand and Min in LOC/ACOS (it starts with "I sought a seat for him in a hidden and lovely spot, a dry stump of a tree; nor did I refuse to let him, when seated, place me on his knee ..."). Just coincidence? Or general themes? Tropes? Do you have any similar experiences (aha, another 'source'!) with classic lit?

Hi everyone, My brother loved the WOT series and has already read it twice in the last 3-4 years. His birthday is coming up and I'd like to find him a new fantasy series to start on, in order to buy it for him. My brother is pretty particular about what he likes, so I don't want to get just any fantasy series. Thought it would be helpful to ask other fans what other fantasy series they'd HIGHLY recommend, that would be as good (is that blasphemy?) or REALLY good, for someone who went crazy for WOT. Any recommendations/pointers would be highly appreciated. And he already read the Game of Thrones series, LOTR, His Dark Materials. Thanks in advance! (:

This thread will serve the purpose that the Thisguy thread has served on the Pre-release board. Basically it’s for all discussion of the quality of aMoL, and permits all forms of critique (positive or negative) and discussion thereof. What it does not permit is personal attacks against Brandon or Team Jordan--"I don't like Brandon as a writer" is okay, "I hate Brandon" is not, and will be met with like any other personal attack. In addition, people are under specific instruction in this thread to be on their best behaviour. It's a charged topic, whatever your position, but personal attacks and abusive behaviour will not be tolerated.

In around the 6th book the amerlin ( who deposed swan, but whose name I can't think of right now) was basically enslaved by one of the chosen. Now I am reading crown of swords and the Amerlin is no longer subject to the Chosen. I can't remember what happened to the chosen that was calling shots. Please remind me what happened.
