[Removed] I simply find it hard to believe that Androl could pick-pocket the seals from Taim while the Forsaken was holding saidin. If Moridin confirms to Rand that it is simple enough to discern an increase in heartbeat while holding the Power (this is how Rand ostensibly "outted" Weiramon as a Darkfiend), and Egwene can see voles burrowing under the ground and eating the grass roots (this was either at Merrilor or in Kandor during Tarmon), then how could Androl have a hope of stealing something so valuable from Taim in that heightened sense of awareness? Are there any clues, as to perhaps Taim being simply tired or distracted? This was a disappointing and anticl…

All of this is minus Rand being the only foretold for sure rebirth of a specific soul, and the Forsaken being rebodied. Hope of my salvation and rebirth is a strong oath and idea in the series. Each character wants to be reborn when the next turning of the age comes. It is also implied that souls are reborn, as in Birgitte and Gaidal, several times per age. This could just be specific to those two as in several times per Age, or it could happen to every Farmer Frank. Are all souls reborn just to the turning of their age, or of all ages? If those who lives in the Third Age are reborn again the fourth, do they think that they are only Fourth Agers? The Heroes are bound …

Hello. I'm new to this forum, clearly. I just finished A Memory of Light, and I'm a bit confused about something. Since people are reborn over the ages, does that mean that Rand is reborn every third age, and seals away the Dark One the way he did every time? And every second age the bore is opened and Lews Therin seals it, goes insane, and taints saidin? If this is the case, doesn't the Dark One, who never dies, know what Rand is going to do, and what Therin is going to do, and stop them? I guess ultimately what I'm asking, is do these specific events happen every time the wheel goes through their respective ages? And if so, what are the ramifications for the…

If Sevanna was taken as a servant by the Seanchan. Then if you take into account that Seanchan slaves can gain some power and influence over time. Then could Sevanna be a threat?

Alright, so I read, and re-read the WoT series as I am sure a lot of you do as well. I am now reading The Fires of Heaven, and I keep getting distracted by one thought, Is Couladin a Darkfriend? The main reason I ask this question is because I am putting together a spreadsheet for all characters in the series, and I have a Darkfriend section and a Shaido Aiel section. Couladin has to go in one or the other, and I know of no definitive proof to put him in the Darkfriend section. I know Asmodean put the Dragons on his arms to distract Rand, but I don't know if that is proof enough. I don't like the guy, and I would like to put him under Darkfriend, but I don'…

  8. Ive seen lots of threads about what we theorize MAY happen in AMOL and lots of topics about what we HOPE happens in AMOL...But, what would really just P!SS YOU *OFF* if it comes to pass in AMOL? For me, if Nakomi turns out to be imaginary I will be ticked. If Rand ''grows himself'' a new hand, I will groan out loud at the utter cheesiness of it. Id Moiraine gets diminished or disrespected in any way in her return. One big thins I will be mad - and I mean REALLY MAD - if it does NOT happen is if Mat does NOT ''General'' much of the Last Battle. I'm most worried about this because it is setting up for Mat to be away from most of the main action and that woul…

  9. I may have read this wrong (or listened to it as it were as I have been doing the audibooks because of my work schedule). I am fairly certain that Arangar released her from the A'dam at the end of LoC and in Egwene's first PoV chapter in aCoS she puts on the braclet as if they are still linked...Is this some kind of major plot twist? (If so please don't spoil) or did I just hear what I am listening to incorrectly?

I just discovered something in the Towers of Midnight and not sure if this has been brought up already. But anyone who still doubts Asmo was killed by Graendal go to page 852 and read. Took me only 3 years to discover Sanderson put that little nugget of info in there.

I originally posted this in the thread on Alanna's bond to Rand, but it's not really about that topic so I moved it here. Here is a thought. What if Verin sent Alanna after Slayer? After all, Slayer was the one thing Verin had left undone, the one element of the Shadow she was kept from opposing. Alanna, meanwhile, is the one Aes Sedai that would recognise Luc, and Slayer probably lives somewhere in the Blight (I'm presuming that Verin hunted down this information--she is quite methodical and note the conversation between them about Luc's made-up last name sounding like it was from the Borderlands). In addition it'd explain why Brandon and RJ didn't simply have Pe…

After finishing the last book and finally ending a journey of over a decade i want to say it was nice to finally see black/afro-type male channelers and an African/Arabian nation included in the W.O.T. world. (Shara reads like Sahara or Sub-Sahara) Too bad these Afro/Arabian male channelers walked on all fours like apes and couldn't even talk like humans but hey, they finally got their place in the story! Count on R.J. to save the best for last! Also too bad this Afro/Arabian nation was the one and only nation to be totally on the side of Evil and fight amongst Trollocs, Myrddraal, Draghkar and Forsaken but hey, they got their place in the last battle. I woul…

Just wanted to share a quick theory on what his "new power" may be, I think it has something to do with the void. "By instinct he reached for the One Power to light [the pipe]. He found nothing. No saidin in the void, nothing. He paused, then smiled and felt an enormous relief. He could not channel. Just to be certain, he tentatively reached for the True Power. Nothing there either. ... He inspected it for a moment in the darkness, then thought of the pipe being lit. And it was." One of the prophecies mentions "The land is one with the Dragon Reborn, and he one with the land." Lanfear also calls it the Oneness and Rand says this about the Void "I am in the middle…

Ever wonder how the average trolloc might view the story of WOT? What exactly would growing up trolloc be like? All we ever see are full grown rampaging trollocs. It begs the question where are all the Trolloc young? all the infant Mydraal? For that matter where are all the Trolloc women at? Are we to believe that Trolloc barabarism makes them inherently less sexist and more egalitarian than the average Rand lander? (Excepting of course the Seanchan who not only have women in their army but integrate them as regulars, unlike the aiel who allow their women to fight but still maintain a sexually segregated female warrior society). I've always felt a little …

Does anyone know (maybe on here?) Where there is a pretty in depth, basically touching on all the important happenings, plot outline for each book in the series online somewhere? Wikipedia doesn't cut it. Way too vague. I'm trying to catch up after having read the series before reading the last two books. I'm loving rereading them but then again I'm kind of kicking myself in the but for not remembering all the minutia of every book so I can just pick up the next to last book and read away. I mean, I know who the main characters are but then I get lost after their names. Ugh, maybe I'm not explaining myself clear enough and I'm asking too much? . …

Well, I'm in Book 4 now and I've hit the first gen-u-ine romantic scene! Between Elayne and Rand. Over the years, before I even started reading the series, I've been reading different views and responses to WOT. While RJ was still alive, the biggest complaints had to do with the slowing down of the narrative and the lack of any end in sight. Since BS took over, criticisms have shifted. In a way, as more fresh voices have read the series, criticism has become more wide ranging and also more specific. Inevitably, with any huge work of art, after the author dies critics start looking for weaknesses. Some of these criticisms strike me as absurd, accusations of racism or "…

  19. I'm not a fan fiction writer, but I recently wrote something that sooooorrta falls under the definition. After a discussion with someone else I read around and I've seen a lot of stuff about the wishes of good ol' RJ and his wife that fanfiction for WoT not be publicized. I don't care about that, I'm not here to complain about that, I'm just curious about what exactly was said. Anybody know the original interview that that all sprouted from?

When Lan and Demandred engaged in the duel, Lan notices that they are encircled by Sharans. He infers that this means Demandred is so confident in his sword fighting ability that he has forbidden his followers to interfere. Demandred's death is confirmed by the perspective of his Sharan girlfriend (or whatever). Then, somehow Lan is still alive, despite being stabbed in the stomach and surrounded by the enemy (some of whom held crossbows, while others were presumably Ayyad.) It seems like that aspect of the plot was seriously overlooked, because Lan would have been killed by Demandred's followers. It's not as if he could have dispatched dozens of crossbowmen by himself, e…

http://brandonsanderson.com/tag/the-wheel-of-time-retrospective/ (six parts as of now, the first two covering getting started on the project and two each for the first two books.) There's not too much we haven't already heard or could piece together (good god could they hire someone that knows anything about computers for an afternoon to do the 20 things they consider impossible but are really easy concerning the notes?) He finds RJ to be more of a gardener variety of writer than RJ had claimed to be in interviews to my knowledge (I've only seen a few mentions and in them RJ seems to come down more on the architect side). There were one or two other interesting bi…

Well, I'm back on track after a long detour! I finished TDR months ago but a lot of things got in the way since then. Now that things have calmed down some, I can immerse myself again. Query: Is TSR the only WOT book not to have a Prologue? Just a general question: I'm starting to feel the "burn" with all of the characters running around, has anyone kept notes while reading the series? Did it help? I'm thinking of starting a journal of notes to go along with my reading just to keep things straight!

Hi im pretty new to this site but have completed and own all of the books in series. The problem with my collection of the books is that they vary in condition and publishers. I feel that a series as great as this one deserves to be preserved in a neat collection of say leather bound hardbacks. Does anyone know of any intention to release a set like this or of one already in existance? Any help would be greatly appreciated

First off, this is my first post here, and my sincere apologies about the wall of text that is to follow. Second off, being about 40% of the way through The Eye of the World as of the time of this posting I am a relatively new reader to the series, although I have been inadvertantly spoiled about most of the major events throughout the series chronology. However, what I wanted to ask is not about TEotE, but about the WoT series as a whole. First of all, I know that the Wheel of Time has a very wide scope; not just in terms of the cultures, plot, and worldbuilding, but also in the sheer number of characters, plot threads, and subplots that branch apart, join back toge…
