  1. So I was reading another thread, and this viewing popped into my head. We have always assumed it means moraine, but with the end of ToM could it be Lanfear? With the woman who is dead and gone Mierin. She originally created the bore, and whlie far gone to the shadow, would rather destroy the dark one and rule as well. I don't think its likely, but has anyone ever put any thought into this? I believe the end of ToM is some sort of trap, but maybe not.

  2. I am calling for applications for two people to join my staff as bloggers. Applications for these positions will be open until Friday, June 15th. Description of the Job Positions: 1. The first open position is for a new Theory Blogger to take over for Despothera, who sadly no longer has time for this position. You do not need to make the blogs as long or detailed as he did, but you can if you wish. 2. The second open position is for a WoT Humor Blogger. This blog is brand new and will be a regular feature o…

  3. Hello, I think some people will not like me asking this question, but I hope I get some answers. Here is my story. I started reading WoT back in early 2000's. I actually read the first 5 books in my native Russian, 1 in German (as I forgot my book in Russia and had to buy it from the German airport) and 3 in English after I moved to the states. That's how passionate I was!! After a big hiatus after Winter's Heart, I got the next book and realized I didn't remember any of the plot lines and just gave up (I was in the middle of my college career and didn't have time to go back and re-read plot lines and wiki was not what it is now). Recently, I decided to go back an…

I wonder if Settale Anan might be an indication as to how a woman can overcome stilling without losing drive to live. We know that Cady helped some false dragons live longer by trying to give them some new reason to live for. It worked only temporarily. But Anan actually survived for a long time and seems pretty in control of her life. As far as I know, she’s the only person we know that survived stilling and lived on. The difference between her and everyone else that I can see is that she had kids. So I wonder if having children helped her overcome stilling via finding a very good reason to live on. I know that it was mentioned about AS having children to increase numbe…

Please excuse my use of alliteration. Anyways, a lot of fights occur between the Forsaken and other characters in the novels. Some of them seem rather ridiculous and have made the Forsaken seem weaker, but today as I was re-reading The Shadow Rising, I came upon Asmodean versus Rand in Rhuidean and found it to be an intensely exciting fight, and it got me pondering what fights with the Forsaken are best or fan favorites in the series. Also, if you could remind me of all the fights between characters and Forsaken. I will list the ones I can recall. I know there's these fights, and you guys can discuss your feelings on them: 1. Rand versus Aginor (Eye of the Wor…

  6. A common theory about the idenity of Demandred has to be that he is King Roedran of Murandy. There is a lot of evidence to suggest so, and I have found something I believe is more proof. (If you want more info on the Roedran = Demandred theory, have a look at this: https://docs.google....id.d40d74bfa538) Roedran was a person, before Demandred (presumably) took over the role. He was a real person, not like Lord Brend or Samon. Thus, at some point Demandred had to have taken his place, I think I know when, and we have seen it on-screen. In tDR 9: Wolf Dreams, I believe we see Roedran murdered in TAR, the beginning of Demandred's take over. I direct every…

How does aging work for Power-people, both trained and untrained, specifically in terms of looks and biological things like menopause? Does that affect channellers at their "mid-age" (~80 or so) or is it a specific number of years for everyone? I would assume the later based on my understanding of biology, but magic makes everything go haywire. Also, there have been some discrepancies in the book in terms of how the power affects looks. The Kin live longer and age proportionally to their extended life, but then we have Sharina who does look normal for her age. And if Sharina started channelling late, will the extended life benefit kick in now and add another X amount …

Hi Folks, I am new here and also new to TWOT and Fantasy/Sci-Fi in general. I recently read the Morgaine saga by CJ Cherryh and I thought that it was excellent and am now firmly hooked on the genre! (I am sure most of you folks have already read those books but if not, I highly recommend it!) Anyway because I am crazy, :D I have just purchased all the books in TWOT including the prequel. Would I benefit from reading the prequel first or should I just jump right in? Thanks, Jeremy

Just randomly it came to me. What on earth will be going on with Far Madding in the Last Battle? I mean, it is, for obvious reasons, unlikely to be somewhere the Forsaken spend much time in, but what about other darkfriends? Does the Shadow have any plan for Far Madding? I think that every nation has been attacked by the Shadow in some way, directly or indirectly. Has any Chaos been sowed in Far Madding? What about an army? Could they even field a respectable force to fight in the Last Battle? And the Guardians are unique and many possibilities arise from this. Could Shadowspawn use Far Madding as a staging point? Channellers are the only ad…

  12. I have read the series three times through, but often forget stuff, or miss it. I am currently listening to them and find the readers extremly good. it also allows me to pick up on stuff easier. In doing so. through the first six books. I have noticed just how arrogant Nynaeve is. She believes herself so superior to anyone, she believes only her view is right, and that any man is inferior to her, bar Lan. Elayne is just as superior and condesending. Not listening to anyone, wanting things her way. The worst though has to be Aes Sedai, and I mean any. They think all should deffer to them. they should only be spoken to with the honourific Aes Sedai, or Sedai. The AS tre…

  13. Apologies for starting two threads - I promise I am not one of those rookies who will spam the boards. Just one question on this. I am a bit confused about Ba'alzamon and the Dark One. I can't understand if people use them interchangeably. So the Dark Lord is pure chaos - not really an entity similar to the Devil. And Ba'alzamon is his servant. But throughout the book, it seems that the characters use the two interchangeably (or maybe I have just lost track of all the names Ishamael uses). So my question is - why do people use them interchangeably? was Ishamael just really too proud, thinking himself on equal footing with the Dark Lord and perpetuating that image?

Most of the Forsaken settled into important places as people of high esteem (Mesaana in the White Tower, Sammael in Illian, Graendal in Arad Domon, etc.). One thing that I've noticed recently on my re-read is that when Lanfear weaves a Gateway to her presumed hideout after speaking with Rand, she always make it to some place with white silk hangings and silver (several references, including FoH Ch. 6). Where was Lanfear hiding out when she departs to this place? Was she also impersonating some powerful lady in one of the nations?

Hey, I was wondering what would happen when a memory of light started off. Would they just go off and continue the whole meeting of the nations and rand breaking the seals, because that would be an epic start. Also, this is a thread for theories on what is going to happen when this happens? Who is going to take whose side, and is there going to be a fight? I kind of wanted to start this, I'm sorry if this has already been done a lot, I'm a new member. I'm just interested about what will happen at that time.

  18. Do you guys know how to become a Great Captain? Because every person in the series seems to all agree on the 5 great captains, nobody ever complains that one doesnt belong there. So is it something like getting a heron marked blade and you have to be voted or were they just the best generals in the Aiel War. Or are there always 5 Great Captains in this land and everytime one dies someone else needs to take thier place. What do you guys think?

  19. Hi Everyone. I was thinking as I was reading Book Two, where Liandrin was telling Suroth that the two girls Nyneave and Egwene had to be taken across the ocean. We, after reading the books know why the two were so important, but how did the Dark Forces know at the time that those two girls were destined to become leaders of the land and key figures in the fight against the Shadow? The only conclusion I can come to is that both were mentioned in Dark Prophecy, somehow, someway...logical? Thoughts? Agree? Disagree?

  21. I keep seeing in books where Aes Sedai have said that their names are different than there actual real names. How do they get by doing this? Do they say something like "I have been called this before, or known as this before." Or is it just a loophole that nobody thought of. Anybody?

I started writing a book a few months ago, and as I read back on my first draft I'm a bit worried about some of my phrasing. I've read Wheel of Time so many times and with so much frequency (6 times in 7 years) that I fear my brain might not be able to recognize fiction from reality. Specifically, what are some seemingly innocuous phrases that were spawned in Robert Jordan's head. I'm particularly concerned right now about "bite off an oath". It doesn't show up in any of the other 200 books on my Kindle, but 6 times in WoT. Is it strictly a WoTism? Can you think of others that might not be commonly thought of as out-of-the-ordinary but are almost certainly RJ originals…

It's a sure bet that Rand will be remembered simply as the Dragon Reborn and his true name could be forgotten. Perrin will be remember as Perrin Goldeneyes, and maybe the "Lord of Wolves", or some other name based on wolves, but what about Mat? A hero name can be based on a weapon or physical trait, such as Silverbow or Goldeneyes, so Mat could be named for hisashandarei, perhaps being called Blackspear or Swordspear, or he could be named for his missing eye, being called One-Eye. He could also the Prince/Lord of Luck, or the Gambler, or somethng else like that. What do you guys think. Do you have any ideas?

Ok Rand is the flaw. In the book when Mat and Rand escape from the people trying to kill them and Rand uses the One Power for the first time. He then gets sick because that is the norm with people who first use the one power. Problem with all this is that he already used the one power before when they were raising out of the two rivers. He wished that Bela would be able to keep up with the rest of the horses. Now there might be an out here but I don't think it happened this way. When he wished for it he said he felt a chill through his body. Which might mean that he felt a woman channel. Which means either Moiraine or Egwene. Now since Moiraine was surpris…

  26. This topic is raleted to this theory. It would be helful if you read it beforehand. I agree with that theory, but wether you do or not, the main point I wanted you to look at was Rand's new "powers" as "Wakingwalking". I will touch the subject from a PoV that can be accepted by someone who disagrees with the theory above. We've been told many times that ta'veren are people around whom the pattern weaves. I won't explain the whole mechanism here. Well, my thoughts are that ta'veren are actually people that can impose their will, to a limited extent, in the WW as any other would do in the TAR. And, again same to those who visit TAR, they can be better at it or not. Th…

Something that struck me as odd was in teotw when Rand and Mat finally reach the Queen's Blessing. Basel Gill remarks about how he knows that the flute case (and flute) at Rand's side in the bundle is Thom's, as he has seen him play it quite often in the past. Basel Gill tells the boys that Thom used to be Court Bard in the Palace and left just ahead of a death warrant which we all well know. However, unless Thom frequented low places playing as a gleeman to the crowds (and we know from his POV he dislikes telling his stories in common), in order for Basel Gill to see Thom play it frequently Basil Gill must have been in the Palace as either a servant or more likely a c…
