Woop Woop!! just finished Book 3 and have to say that I LOVE THIS SERIES!! Thank you Brandon for a highly enjoyable read, and I now have ur other novels on list of books to read. I found this series so much fun to read. Book 1 is a great intro to the series with some great action sequences and a fantastic and original magic sysytem. Book 2, while I found it to be slightly inferior, was still a really good book. And book 3 was quite simply superb and the ending was spectacular. Rarely have I connected to characters, like I did with some of the characters in this story. Spook, Sazed and Kelsier I particularly liked, and Ham and Breeze had some good scenes together …

Neither bookstore I've been to have anything by Esslemont. I've been reading the Malazan books by Erickson, and I've just finished Bonehunters. Was wanting to get Night of Knives. But they had nothing. Anyone else having trouble finding these books? I went ahead and for Reapers Gale instead. Read about a 1/4 of it last night. Series is so good.

Hey, im just wondering if anyone knows the best ereader to buy, that has a large range of ebooks for Australians. I find it quite hard to determine what really would be the best, even though amazon has alot of content it does not seem to flow to Aussies. I own a Kobo (old one, and would like to upgrade) but alot of the time even they have the same problems. Any have suggestions, as i really want to get the WOT as ebooks. The new covers would be nice but i know thats just being hopeful Cheers

As I was updating my apps today, I noticed the update for Infinity Blade describes something coming up called Infinity Blade: Awakening, an iBook written by Brandon Sanderson. All I can say is...WHAT THE HELL B-SANDS? You are supposed to be writing some Memoirs about Visual Energy, not other ventures! We have been waiting for our final book, and you're dangling pages of unrelated meat before our very eyes! With that said, I'm not actually pissed off. Mr Sanderson (that has an almost Matrix-like tone to it) has done well so far with our beloved WOT, and I look forward to November.

While looking on another topic came across some great Princess Bride Quotes. Wot has some good Quotes also. What are your favorites? Wot: Mat to Brigitte in Tom Ch 22: "They should post a flaming explanation on those doorways. 'Step through here and they can bloody hang you. And they will. Idiot'" PB: Wesley falling down the hill "as... you... wish!" (didn't want to pick one used in other threads) Have at it.

As the NY approaches, it's time for the Best of the Year lists to start coming out. So what were your top 5 fantasy novels for 2011? My top 5 list... 1. "The White Luck Warrior"- R. Scott Bakker *This was #1 by a fair margin. It's fantasy that rewards careful reading and the literary quality holds up outside of genre. 2. "The Wise Man's Fear"- Pat Rothfuss 3. "A Dance with Dragons"- George R.R. Martin 4. "The Night Circus"- Erin Morgenstern 5. "Heroes"- Joe Abercrombie Honorable Mentions: "Cold Commands"- Richard Morgan, "Dragons Path"- Daniel Abraham, "The Crippled God"- Steven Erikson , "Sacred Band"- Daniel Durham, "The Iron Jackal"-Chris W…

I was thinking. And I need you guys opinions and/or knowledge. I was wondering about suggesting a series of books be written based on the Star Wars Universe, but taking place during the typical fantasy timeline. No Star Ships or Light Sabers, in fact no technology at all. Only swords of iron, horses, castles and inns, etc... But you'd still have the force. Both light and dark sides. This could also go as far back as the very beginning or not. I'd love to see a star wars based series set in medaeval times. Jedi who ride horses. Wields iron swords. Sith who could be considered evil wizards. My question is two parts. What do you guys think. And secondly, and most import…

I've read The Color of Magic by Terry Pratchett, many years ago. I was wondering if any of you that are Pratchett fans would recommend the movie The Color of Magic. It seems its based off said book as well as another book which I haven't read, Light Fantastic. And although I can Google a movie review, I much prefer asking people with similar tastes. And.everyone here doesn't always agree, but at least we all have one opinion in.common, and.that's better than going it blind. So anyone seen this movie and what did you think? Kids movie?

Hi, I just saw a picture of RJ's headstone and I was surprised to see that the Masonic square and compasses was not present. This is unusual as all of us will typically include it (I too am a Freemason). In fact I do not know a single brother who does not have it present on their headstone. I was wondering, does anyone know why this is the case? Thanks, John

I've been trying to find some Sci-Fi to get into, and I need some inspiration! Without getting too far off topic from the Wheel of Time, is there anything out there that is epic and spans many books with returning characters? You can eliminate the Dune series. I read the first book and enjoyed it, but put down Dune Messiah as soon as I knew how much time was skipped. Thanks for any suggestions. :)

RotK is maybe the best example ever of the "extended wrap-up" to a fictional story. Other sagas, like George RR Martin's 'A Song Of Ice And Fire' favor a cliffhanger that leads directly into the next installment with each ending. Then, you may have a story like 'Doctor Who' where each series ends with MOST things resolved, yet still a few mysteries dangling for both viewer and The Doctor both. All things must end. Soon, our beloved WOT will as well...the question is: Which type, in general, do YOU prefer? Fish

Eden: a world of perpetual darkness, lit by fluorescent vegetation and headed by geothermal trees. Five hundred humans - the Family - live in an isolated valley. They are all descended from the same couple, Tommy and Angela, astronauts stranded on Eden one hundred and sixty years ago. As a result, genetic deformities and aberrations amongst the Family are commonplace. The Family is held together by the dream that one day Earth will send a rescue ship to pick them up and take them home. For teenage hunter John Redlantern, this dream is a futile delusion. He believes that the Family must branch out to survive, as the valley's food stocks are dwindling. But the only way …

The Hugo award nomination period is starting up soon and I must admit that I've not read many new books in 2011. The new ones I did read, are not ones that I'd consider nominating (though I did enjoy them). Anyone have any suggestions for something I should read before I decide what to nominate?

Upon his death in 1973, J.R.R. Tolkien left behind a vast collection of writings about Middle-earth. His third son and literary executor, Christopher, assembled some of these into The Silmarillion, published in 1977, but the question about what to do with the other reams of material was unclear. Aware that fans of Middle-earth would be eager for more material, even unfinished or existing only in rough drafts, he assembled Unfinished Tales and published it in 1980. Its success inspired him to proceed with the far more ambitious, twelve-volume History of Middle-earth project. Unfinished Tales occupies an awkward place in the Tolkien canon. Unlike the History series, whi…

I saw this on another site and thought I'd ask the question here as Westeros is a pretty tight run ship if you know what I mean. Its not so much a GRRM bash - well a little - but it does raise a valid question in regards to up and coming authors who want to write a fantasy series with a number of books "I copied and pasted these quotes from other sites, but it is interesting how many times you do hear 'i'm not reading this series until its finished" Believe it or not i'm actually doing this for Patrick Rothfuss who i've been told has written 2 good books, but i'm NOT going to read them until its finished because i'm tired of neverending fantasy series :( Auth…
