  1. Started by Lambada,

So I've found one of the best mini games I've played in quite a while http://armorgames.com/play/6244/every-day-the-same-dream I can't really describe it, but the ending is going to stick with me for a lifetime. It doesn't take long to play, but I can guarantee it will be a game you will remember for a very long time. This is one of the few games that I would call art. (As a side-note I wasn't sure where to post this - there is a games board in the Entertainment Section, but this has far more appeal than the gamers who frequent that forum (not to mention it is a very different kind of game to those I see discussed on there) and I thought it might get…

  2. I only got to yesterday's session of Comic-con due to work. It was my first time there and was only able to stay for a couple of hours, but really enjoyed it! Aside from the proliferation of comics (duh), I bumped into Christopher Paolini (author of Eragon) playing a Star Wars game (not sure which one). Aside from kicking ass at that game, I chatted with him for a few minutes and got Eragon signed. On Thursday, Paolini was on a discussion panel titled "Once Upon a Time": Epic Fantasy, Bigger than Life Heroes/Heroines. He was on the panel along with Brandon, Lynn Flewelling, Patrick Rothfuss, Brent Weeks and Tad Williams! I'm bummed I wasn't able to get out of work for…

  3. Hey everyone, who wants to help me find the book that inspired my love of fantasy when i was a kid around 10 years ago. Everyone? thanks guys. but here's the catch, i don't remember the name of the book, the author of the book or any of the characters. the general opening of the book is that there are 2 friends and they stop a prince from raping one of their friends and then they go join the army. i feel like one main character was named steven, or stephen. so any ideas???

  4. I know Brandon mentioned this on on of his Way of Kings-related posts, but I just stumbled across it now. If you haven't seen it before and are looking for a good laugh(s), check it out: http://www.amazon.com/Way-Kings-Stormlight-Archive/product-reviews/0765326353/ref=pd_sim_b_cm_cr_acr_txt_1?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1 I'm not sure if those reviews will be wiped out when Way of Kings is released on 8/31, so check it out soon

  6. Started by Kasm,

Hello everyone, I have started buying the WOT audio books from Audio Renaissance so I can listen to them on the commute to and from work. As a whole, I like them a lot. I get to go through rereads (re-listens) of the books when I normally wouldn't be able to since I tend to have a full schedule. But I have a question. The CDs don't come with a list of which chapters are on which CDs. For TEotW and TGH each chapter starts at the beginning of a new track. But now I am on TDR and the chapters start mid track more often than not. Navigating through the CDs if you are trying to listen to a specific part is almost impossible without listening to many, many track…

  7. This topic is out of place, I think, and it may get moved or something... not like this post is worth anyone's time anyway. ::) I just had to announce my discovery though although I know many of you are going to roll your eyes at the fact that it's taken me this long to notice. Aside from DM, I just don't do the forum posting thing anywhere else. Well, much of my experience took place on a 2400 baud modem on Prodigy's BBSs at the old age of, like, ten... haha. I guess what I'm trying to say is that my knowledge of forums is rather limited and prehistoric at that. Not that any of that matters in regard to my discovery of the little area at the bottom of the p…

  8. Started by Bridge,

After TGS, I went back and reread (a fifth time I think) all WoT series. Because I felt something had to end I got The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind (second time)and there seems to be a lot of things alike WoT. Palace of Profets - The White Tower, collars like seanchan used, Sisters of The Dark - Black Ajas... Between Rand and Richard... I do not know. Both awesome sword fighters (better Richard- beat 30 blade-masters once), both did not know sometime what to do with their gifts...I think I like Matt better!!!

  9. AD 2352. Humanity is divided into two factions, the Company which rules over Earth and the Sol system, and the Union, which rules over the outer colonies and worlds. In between are a narrow band of independent stations, nominally loyal to the Company but open to all traders and merchants. For years the Company and Union have been at war, but Earth's appetite for conflict is dwindling. In the end they have withdrawn practical support for their offensive fleet under Captain Mazian, leaving him a rogue agent whose goals and loyalties are suspect. Caught in the middle of these turbulent times is Pell Station, circling the planet Downbelow in the Tau Ceti system. The clos…

Millions of members of the Living Dream movement are preparing to plunge into the enigmatic Void at the heart of the Milky Way, believing it will deliver them to paradise. Others fear it will destroy the Galaxy altogether. The Ocisen Empire has allied with humanity's most remorseless foe to avert this fate, forcing the Commonwealth to unleash its most powerful weapon in response. But this very eventuality appears to have been prepared for by factions within the Commonwealth eager for the Living Dream to succeed... Hello. My four year old came to me last week and asked me if I could read her a chapter book. I have read her the Winnie the Pooh books that are in a novel formate with individual stories as each chapter, we would read one chapter per night. So it was still very much one story per night. We are done of those books, but now she wants something more. Again she is only 4, so I don't know what other books would be at her level for wording and concept. Please let me know if you know of anything. Thank you!

  13. I am checking YES. And, I am not just referring to the fact that 62 is not super young. I mean, death is about so much more than finishing a stupid book series (even one Im addicted to, lol). Look at WOT. I mean, wouldn't we all - without even blinking - give up every WOT Book we ever read to give Harriet her husband back? Of course. Regarding *ASOIAF* though, I mean so many OTHER contributing factors, imo. I read where GRRM had stated on his site/blog that he had been consumed by ''other interests'' besides writing ADWD. Thats cool. Its his life. Im just looking at facts. He cannot write *Quality* 700-800 page books enough to finish the series AT TH…

  19. I've read through quite a few fantasy series and a lot are very similar. The only one that truly stands out as being different is George RR Martins a song of ice and fire. I was just wondering if there is anything out there similar to this? I like the adult themed content he uses. I feel fantasy is lacking in that area and if anybody could recoomend something more mature in the fantasy genre I would appreciate it.

  20. Enjoyed the Dreseden file Tv series, which I thought was way better than LOTS Sword of Truth TV series but they can it. I decided to go look at the books and found they had done the same as they'd done with LOTS taken some of the good parts of the books and built a tv show around totally butching (excuss the pun)the books. The Dresden files I liked because its mostly in First person, we done go off looking at what so and so is doing and then come back to the main character 2 or 3 chapters later. Its all done from the main characters point of view, my kind of book. The Codex Alera does not follow in the same format as Dresden files, but it didn't loose a main c…

And when he can't even pull that off, it's clear that the crew need a lucky break. 29. I know this is not exactly WoT related, But I have been lead to believe this is still the place to put it. If I’m wrong I’m sure the admin’s will let me know. But I have a couple of Questions about tWoK’s First of, dose anyone know how did the cover art? Second the Australian release. I assume it will be the same but our publishers do strange things to us, especially in the west. And lastly do we know if any other WoT people have been involved at all? I assume BWS would have chosen to keep it separate, but I’m just curious on this one.
