Had a water pipe break and damage part of my book collection. Insurance will pay to replace the WOT books but my printed-out copy of the short story about the assault on Shayol Gul and sealing the bore was completely destroyed. Is it in the archives someplace?

I have been out of the loop for some time now with the Shannara Series. I read up until Antrax and was so distraught by Walker Boh's death that I never went on to Morgawr or any of the subsequent sequels. Should I even bother? I have some loyalty to Brooks because of the Elfstones, which I consider one of the best fantasy novels of all time, but I must say I was sorely disappointed in the last two books of the Heritage series and whole voayage of the Jerle Shannara stuff.

Remember about six months ago I posted asking if anyone had read this author? Well, since then, I've read 6 or 7 of her books and let me tell out... outstanding. They are AMAZING. I couldn't put the first trilogy I read down. The first ones I read were in one volume called Lilith's Children, but the individual books in order are called Dawn, Adulthood Rites, and Imago. Absolutely amazing work. Great, tight, prose, wonderful characters and an amazing and HIGHLY original plot. I absolutely loved it and have been recommending it to everyone I know who reads fantasy/sci-fi. Then, I picked up another series, which I sort of read out of order, but it didn't matter…

I am so tired of finishing a series only to find that the author has a few more books to go, or even one more book. That's more time I have to wait before the story is, finally, finished. And, if I have to wait too long, I may end up reading them all over again. Call it an obsession for closure, I don't know. So, I need recommendations on the best, relatively short, but definitely finished, series. Let me hear it. Something that won't leave me hangin. What do ya'll think?

GET YOUR MIND OUT OF THE GUTTER!!! I'm talking about the first time you ever read Wheel of Time. What was it like for you? To get started I tell you about my first time: I was 19 and just finishing my first year of my first attempt at college. I was a big fantasy fan but most of my experences were limited to what was published by TSR (now Wizards of the Coast) yes, Drizzt. My friends told me about Robert Jordan. And I heard good things about it. Nothing saying what the series was about just it was good. While visiting home I bought a trade paperback edition of tEotW. Trade and mass marketpaperbacks of WoT don't have that little plot teaser so I …

It is my great pleasure to announce our latest Discussion Group, "A Game of Stones". A group of Dragonmount members, under their own initative, created a Guild for the popular WoT game located at www.gostones.net. They are currently ranked third on the site. This is a fantastic acheivement and we absolutely wish to support them. Damek Kral will be acting as the Discussion Group moderator. Congratulations!

I am going to attempt to organize an online re-reading through all of TWoT books. If anyone is interested please visit http://www.fragzonegaming.com/wotforum/default.asp. The site is very basic at the moment, but I am hoping to jazz it up a bit as we progress through the books. I plan on posting a chapter every couple of days to give enough time for everyone to post and discuss, but hopefully keep things from dragging too slow. I plan on posting the exntended prologue (From the Two Rivers) when I can get about a dozen people registered on the boards. Thanks and I hope to see you on the site soon.

So most books have heroes and villains, but what about those characters who are morally ambiguous, somewhat self-centered and capable of despicable acts, but also engage the reader's interest and occasional sympathy? To quote Arnold J. Rimmer, "Everybody loves a bastard", sometimes. 1. Jaime Lannister from A Song of Ice and Fire. In what is probably the greatest about-turn of a character in fantasy history, George RR Martin spent two significantly large novels painting this character as a totally reprehensible git. He has illicit liaisons with his twin sister, which single-handedly plunges the country into civil war; he betrayed his oath as a Kingsguard and murdered t…

Ever played Steampunk/Cyberpunk? Watched Miyazaki Movies or the like that involve Steam-Generated machines and such? It is theorized (or possible) that a similar technology was used and researched in the Age of Legends. From weapons to day-to-day items similar to Ter'Angreals, what do you think would exist or be researched/created in this world? (For example - an old weapon was found and is being researched by one group of Scholars, and anouther group are creating a steam based car while anouther group researches anouther path.) What are your thoughts? Suggestions, Possible Items that could be found and in what age?? The Reasoning for my questions i…

Ok, I would like an honest, Christian aspect on R.A. Salavtore's works. Are they any good at all? I've seen them so many times, but never had the time to pick one up. What do you guys think? Loreia, the Lost One

Hey guys, I was thinking.. Does anyone here play World of Warcraft who either has a guild, or would like to create a guild based on these books? Ya know, just until someone develops the next big online game called The Wheel of Time lol. Anyway I didn't create this account just for that, I will be sticking around as I love these books.

I freakin love TWoT! Quite honestly I think it's the best series since the Sliced Bread series... (sorry, that was bad) Anyhow, I'd just like to introduce myself, and say thank you to the the creators of this site. It looks like a lot of fun! I've also got a research problem. I decided to write a research/argumentative paper about Robert Jordan being one of the best modern authors. Thus far, I have the NY Times Best sellers list facts, whatever RJ bios the internet has to offer, and all my personal input about his creativity. If there're any student of RJ out there that would like to share their knowledge on a great man and his wonderful writings, please…

Having acquired free ebooks of the entire Vorkosigan Saga, wealth I am happy to share with anyone who provides an email address, I've finally got to read the whole series from end to current end. I even got Falling Free and the short stories in the right place. OH GOD IS THIS EVER AWESOME. I'm not normally full of frothing uncritical praise, but this series brings me so much joy it's unreal. Miles! His parents! His everyone! The characterisation, the worldbuilding, the plotting! Has anyone else discovered the amazingness of the Vorkosigan series?

Friday marked Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, or Day of Rememberance. This is the traditional time to look back on the past year and decide what changes you will make for the better. This is the first of the High Holy Days, leading up to Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. I know we have many jewish members in this community and I wanted them to know we're thinking about them right now.

Do you like to role play? Well The Reflection of the Wheel is for you.... The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legends. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, and Age long past, a wind rose through the courtyards and corridors of the great White Tower. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning. The year is 1008NE. Currently the lands surrounding Tar Valon are in fu…

So you fancy taking a weekend break into your favourite fantasy novel. Which bustling metropolis do you enjoy spending time in? Taking it easy in Lankhmar? Strutting your stuff in Minas Tirith? Or ducking for cover in Ankh-Morpork? Some of my favourites: 1) Ankh-Morpork: The dominant city of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. A colourful, bustling city where all human life can be found! Although, quite often, only briefly! Also the only city on the list to have been torched for the insurance money and where people can walk across the river's surface. Imports: trouble and tourism. Exports: cabbages and trouble. 2) Minas Tirith: The capital city of Gondor from Tolk…

I saw this on a Reflections, the guy who posted it wrote the first paragraph, his brother wrote the rest. I'm not one to do this, but it was a request from my brother. He's deeply hurt by the murder of one of his old teachers which happened a few days ago. This is a letter he wanted me to send to as many people as possible. If you can, and want to, send it on. This is for all those to understand my grief and the grief of others. A great Man was lost. Let this letter go on to let everyone understand Mr. Lawrnece will live on in all of us. An open letter to the killers of Mr. Lawrence By Leonard Pitts Jr. lpitts@MiamiHerald.com G ood morni…
