There was to be a wheel of time movie series. Who do you think would play the chars in the books? (if I posted this in wrong forum sorry heh)

  4. :D Now, I certainly haven’t read all of these authors, but I have done extensive research for the “grandmasters†and “classics†of sci-fi and fantasy and feel the necessity to include them (when I finally do read them, if they are as dry as dust I will immediately blast them of this list). I’m kind of looking at these “unknowns†as a way to collect authors for my “to read†list, so eventually I will be able to boast a Top 100 that I have completely read. If you could post your comments (recommending authors to be shifted up or down or quality authors that missed the list) it would be much appreciated. Here’s the general order I have compi…

  5. Throughout the series, Snape's sinister personality and antagonism towards Harry are in stark contrast with his heroic actions in Harry's defence. On several occasions, Snape tries to have Harry expelled from Hogwarts. Yet in spite of these attempts to sabotage Harry's school career, Snape still saves Harry's life on more than one occasion. What can explain this? Let’s say that Snape is unltimatly a “good guy†(as I believe). Much of Snape's disdain for Harry stems from the constant rivalry and strife with Harry's father James, and this is a viable explantation for his daily beligerence towards Harry. But what of his actions supporting Harry? Besides the obvi…

I am a big fan of the WoT and have a hard time enjoying any other Sci-Fi and Fantasy anymore as I am always contemplating the next chain of events and story line in the WoT series... I would love to write a Book or two for the series , even tho I am not a Good writer like RJ is. As to that I wonder if I could submit a storyline and add some objects of interest; tho it is likely these suggestions have already been contemplated or a more likely chain of events for the story may have already been written. If I might tho here are 2 Storylines I would like to suggest: (1) I can not help but see Egwen al'Vere getting co-opted by the secret circle of Aes Sedai who a…

I figured we had a multi-multi-page thread about just where people are from, so it might be interesting to see what people do. (And disprove my theory you all are a bunch of computer admin geeks...) So, I'll start. I teach high school science, as of late, physics and earth science. When you teach high school, nothing can scare you. (Not to mention I am in an urban environment with lots of gang problems...) Who's next?

Hey everybody, I recently exchanged emails with the relatively-new fantasy author Brandon Sanderson and he asked me to do him a favor and recommend his book to as many people as possible. He wrote "Elantris" and "Mistborn", two fantastic and amazingly original fantasy books that really are must reads. So, all fantasy fans, let's do our best to make this guy a huge success. If you read it and like it, recommend it to all the people you know. Thanks.

  10. You are reading some book in your room and out of nowhere a gateway forms in the middle of it, through it you can clearly see the White Tower. Then a man dressed all in black steps into your room stating that "You better hurry up and get your things together, i'm leaving in fifteen minutes." So, you have 15 minutes, what do YOU grab?

  11. Ok, so I was at work and talking to a friend about books we like to read. Now, WOT is defiantly my favorite fantasy series. However, I like to read a lot of stuff. Infact, I basically like RJ's conan stuff more than the orginals. However, this friend and I were talking. He is exicted about "Sandhunters of Dune" comming out. We got to thinking about it and there are a TON of similiarties between Herbert's world and Jordan's. Lets start with the simple Bene Gesserit -> Aes Sedai: From the nature of there name on down, these two groups have frightening similarties. All female, possessors of the only "magic" around, and both groups are supposed to be wat…

Hello everyone, I have recently com across the greatest WOT game ever!. It is in the form of Wheel of Time MUD(a mud is a text based RP game). The creators and coders in this mud did such a great job recreating RJ's world it's amazing. All the towns are exactly where they should be, all the weapons, races, you can even visit all the places that RAnd and his gang go to. Be a Trolloc, killing and pillaging everywhere you go. Become a powerful Aes Sedai and seek out training at the White Tower, or defend the borderlands as a soldier. Join the whitecloaks and purify the land of Darkfriends, or be a darkfriend, serving the Great Lord as a simple man, or one of the CHosen. Join…

ok, so RJ has plans for a whole new series after tWoT called The Infinity of Heaven. All i know about it now is that one culture has developed to 17th century europe with gunpowder weapons and everything. i want us all to speculae on that. i bet there will not be a messiah figure. i bet it would be really sick if half the story was in the "real" world and the other half took place in the "heaven" RJ envisions.

I don't know about you guys but I'm sick of the bashing of other series. I understand that you may not like it or that you may hate it but is it necessary to be so figgin malicious about it. People get really defensive for no reason. Of course the biggest one I'm talking about is the whole WoT vs SoT. Yes we get the TG is kind of a douche, well maybe a major one, but it doesn't change the fact that he is a good writer. Personally I feel that people should enjoy something for what its worth. They are well written novels, as are those in the WoT series. Yes, we can have our favourites (I personally favor WoT over SoT) but not to the point were we form "gangs", so to speak. …

Here's how it goes. I have just recently (in the past 2 years or so) gotten into the Fantasy side of reading. Never was really into it before except for the Hobbitt, Which I read like 50 times. *Sigh* But as far as the LOTR goes, there wasn't enough polictical stuff in it for me to really get interested. I found the books, Boring. No offense, just not my style. I like Books that stay away from your "typical" fantasy novels, such as, NO DRAGONS. With the exception of Goodkind which used it VERY rarely. But I can't stand books with Dragons as a main theme or character. Also The Wizards have to be really down to earth, such as Zedd from the SOT novels, and The Male AS i…

Okay, SoT haters, this is just a discussion thread for those who have read Phantom. If you hate SoT and haven't read Phantom, start another "I hate Sword of Truth" thread and do your bashing there. That said, this is just about discussing Phantom, not the whole series, unless it relates to Phantom. I thought it was a little to preachy and to low on the action that would make the ancient Greeks gag. When there was some action I'm like "yes, Yes, YES!" but it was over to soon. Favorite action scene though, when Chase returned to the scene. I did find it intriguing how Richard lost his gift. For some reason I imagined him looking a little differently now…

Hi. My name is Cary and I have been a huge fan of Robert Jordan’s work since I was in highschool, which was a good ways back. But I’m not here to tell you about me. I want to tell you about a real-life Perrin who is nothing short of a miracle. Chuck and Meva Kennedy sought the help of a fertility specialist when tradition methods weren’t delivering them the child they both wanted. Shortly after they did so, Meva discovered she was pregnant with triplets. The babies decided they were being born at the tail end of June, and their family was increased by three, Sarah, Ryan, and Perrin. Both Chuck and Meva love the Wheel of Time series so it came as no surprise that…
