I can understand what Robert is going thru. I have read his recent post and am glad to see he is home and resting comfortably. I was also treated with thalidamide while awaiting my stem cell transplant at the University of Michigan. And like Robert said, not all treatments work for all people. It actually reduced the function of my heart, from a 50% ejection fraction to a >40%, which made me not eligible for the stem cell transplant. Now, I only have 1% of my bone marrow plasma affected, but I have multiple organ involvement. Heart, kidneys, stomach, intestinal tract and nerve damage. All of this means I have had this for a long time with only 1% in my bone…

I get annoyed with readers of one series (whether it's RJ fans versus Goodkind, or B5 fans versus Star Trek or vice versa, or Dune and Lord of the Rings or Star Wars) accusing authors of another of ripping each other off. While we're waiting for the last WOT book to come out, what are some other good series or authors to read? The only other fantasy series I've read so far are King's The Dark Tower, Tolkien's LOTR, and Rowling's Harry Potter.

I just finished Anansi Boys, and loved it. Much more than American Gods, even. I think Fat Charlie was just the MOST entertaining character ever. It makes me want to go read the Sandman novels.

I see a lot of australians are on this board, and i was just wondering if you guys have read some of the good australian fantasy authors out there? At the moment, my favorite is Sean Williams, who rights an amazing series called the Books of the Cataclysm, then theres Jennifer Fallon, who reminds me a little of RJ in the sophistication of her plots. Trudi Canavan - her new books a bit cutesy, but i loved her black magician trilogy. And Garth Nix... his stuff is brilliant, and that includes the stuff he wrote for kids. So you know any of these, or any others i havn't mentioned?

i have read the 10 first books inn the wheel of time series and i most say i really like them even if some of the later books are not as good as the first ones but ther is one thing that kinda does not seem rigth to me, it is said many times that 2 river folks are stubborn and will not be forced inn to doing anything or doing anything but they migth follow folks they find wordy but as i see it all the 3 main male chars seem to be nothing but hounded inn to doing thing buy oter folks primeraly female chars personaly i think that at times gives the impression that they lack both stubbornes and charcter strength that they are suppose to have as ta`veren or at least…

Sometime around june 25th my pc stopped working. I was gone at the time and someone else was using it. I had them bring it into GeekSquad to see what was wrong with it.. They said the hard drive had Fried. 2 weeks later the new hard drive fried... So we called in, they would replace it free of charge. 2 weeks later and 2 hard drives with it, they finally concluded that the chance of me getting 4 defaulty Hard Drives in a row is greater then that of winning the lottery... well, just found out that The Song of the Tears (author ian irvine) is finally coming out, i say finally even though chimera only came out in late 2004) i still remember the way the chimera ended and the effect it had on me, and i have been waiting for this for a while. well this should be good and i have anticipated this for a while, out in september (well here in oz, unsure of other releases) and if some of you don't know what i am talking about, you should start with the series "a view from the mirror quartet", followed by "The well of echoes quartet".
