Official twitter account released files that contain extra layers when opened in photoshop. The weaves are in those layers.

I think the angle is bad.  The tip of the sword extends well past his right shoulder, but is is hard to see how far the handle extends past his left shoulder due to Lan's stance and his rotation on the poster.  A katana is usually a bit over 3 feet long including handle.

 

So, first impression for me, the sword looks short.  But I just attribute that to poor artwork on the poster.  Didn't have that impression from any of the sneak peak/trailers.  Perspective is skewed because of the moment they chose to freeze in time - unfortunate.
