Is this the Last Battle?

Featured Replies

What people call "Tarmon Gai'don" and the "Last Battle" is the same thing, but it isn't the "Last Battle that will ever be fought".  That was the point Herid Fel was making.  He was explaining (mostly for the readers' benefit, I think) that this is just the same "Last Battle" that happens at the end of every Third Age.  We had one in the last cycle, and we'll have one in the next.  This is not the "Last Battle" in the sense of being very last battle that will ever happen.

We use the word "last" in several different ways.  The "last game" of a baseball season isn't the "last" in the sense that no other game will ever be played.  It is just the "last" in this season.  There will be more baseball next year.  Tarmon Gai'don will probably end this particular Age, but other Ages will have their own battles, and when the Third Age comes again, we get to do this one over.

"Tarmon Gai'don" and the "Last Battle" are the same thing.
