I wonder about the "Air" element common in many magic systems. Because air is somewhat of a vague term, considering the various elements that could potentially make it up.

If you consider the four-element system as corresponding to the four states of matter, it becomes a lot easier to understand.

I hate it when some things put in a fifth element. Like metal or some stupid crap. Pokemon messed everything up in some regards.

Pokemon never claimed to be strictly based off of any system of elemental philosophy. Also, metal is a valid element in some Chinese systems.

That is exactly my point. Also, I'm half-Chinese, so I'm an exception to the rule. I was found in a Triad dumpster in San Francisco.
