Rand could defeat Taim because there are supposedly three male sa'angreal equal to or greater then Callandor's power and if Rand links with a woman (Nynaeve) again then he can wipe Taim's sorry face off the world of channelers and darkfiends.

Had Rand actually been active in the Black Tower's development, like say peeking in even once a week, things may not have gotten so bad... and his detachment and lack of involvement even now seems out of place with regards to what we know of him. Its not just Rand hiding from an expected ambush, believe me.

 

Couldnt agree more, he let it spiral out of his control when he could of nipped it in the butt. Its un-Rand like and I cant see why. I get what Prime is saying but .....Rand isnt scared, he might need male channelers but having none is better than having Taim and he group of better trained men (Taim is giving special classes and I don't think its gardening classes) turning agaisnt him. Rand must at least suspect something is up and no matter how busy he is he shouldnt ignore it. Hell even giving Logain a free hand in trying to solve the problem would at least be keeping character with what he has done before and it saves him the time doing it.

Maybe Rand is doing what he is doing on purpose....maybe he knows something the readers don't....maybe he has a plan and waiting for the right time to enforce it. Can't wait till ToM to find out.
