Just in time for St. Patrick's Day

 

 

Super excited for the next half of Unlimited Bladeworks to start up in just a few more weeks. The Fate series always has had some really great music, from the trailers, the anime, the game, and the movies. And it has one of the best premises present in anime--and the writing to back it up. Oh god, spending an episode to sit King Arthur, Alexander the Great and Gilgamesh down to argue about kingship and what it means to lead has easily become one of the best half hour segments on television that I've ever watched. But anyways, back to the music; most often, a TV show finds a niche type of music that tonally supports the themes behind the picture, and supports on-screen sequence with music that incites certain emotions or thoughts deemed appropriate for each scene. And while the Fate series continues that tradition, it has a wider breadth of musical types do to the premise of the show. When 7 of your characters are Heroic Spirits, figures from history, legend, or even fiction, you receive a lot of leg room to really play with your musical variety.

And next you have the battle music... which is often a weird mixture of the themes for the characters involved (or cultural styles appropriate for each character), mashed into a more modern style (techno, rock, metal) to represent the era in which the battles are taking place. Which leads to some really interesting/wierd stuff.
