i have bathed dogs and cats. i will never bathe a cat again if i can help it. or a dog, for that matter, but not for the same reasons.

dogs will not try to kill you for bathing them for the most part.

I have a black lab, he loves the water - except the rain.

No matter what type of animal it depends on the individual. I've washed horses, ducks, geese, chickens, pigeons, cats, dogs, rabbits, ginnea fowl, peacock, quail, my friends cows, turtles (not just with water but with soaps that work with them) geckos, hermit crabs (their awesome, they climb out of their shells, swim around and then crawl back in again.) and probably some things I'm forgetting.

I also have a chinchilla and alpacas, but they can't get wet. Then chinchilla just takes dust baths. The alpacas have their wool cut every summer and get brushed.
