Speaking from experience nomming them out of dad's big carrot garden... the tops don't really say much :/ check how thick their bases are by shifting teh dirt there a little with your finger, won't hurt them and you can judge how big they are :)

Top tip: leave space in your bottle before you freeze them. Otherwise they can split.
