My nephew watched it a lot when he was pre-school age, maybe 2010ish

I'd just assumed that was when it first came out.

I bought a few Thomas Christmas dvds that were on sale for $5 each.

One of them turned out to be episodes from the old pre-CGI era

Where it was all videos of actual toy train sets

That was actually a lot more interesting to watch as an adult, though I can see why kids would prefer the new stuf

These were the ones we watched, over and over and over and over and over. 

 

Along with Postman Pat and the Norwegian version of Sesame Street (Sesam stasjon) and the Fraggles.

Sesame Street drives me nuts

I mean

I didn't like it as a kid

But it's definitely a good kid show as far as being educational instead of just eye candy

But I swear they just show the same 5 episodes on loop and have been for a year

I should not be able to tell you the letter and number of the day based on the opening sentence of the show.

I haven't seen Sesame Street, but Sesam Stasjon drove me nuts. I think I was just too old for it when it came out. We had a bunch of Norwegian educational shows though when I was little, and I used to love them.

Might have something to do with HBO buying the rights to it.  It's no longer non-profit

So maybe PBS only gets a very small sample they can air for free
