I'm reading in the USA Today that there has been lots of damage in Christchuch, New Zealand.

The news said it was a 6.3 - was it in her area pandy? Hope she's okay also

Yup, directly in her area. Earthquake itself is reported to be weaker than the last one, but caused way more damage.

Well, it looks like her university got through okay, so hopefully she's fine. I'm glad I don't live in Christchurch though! Terrible.

I dont know what has filtered through to your news but basically it was much shallower so more violent (as far as ive heard). Its O week for uni's and it was during the day so more people were out an about. So far there is one fatality confirmed with a few more reported. The central city square was also heavily effected. The phones are down in the area still and so is power. NZ national news is about to start and there will be more info after that i think

Hi peoples, I'm alright-- just got power back.

It's utter chaos in the city, I was on the 4th floor of a building at the time- not a fun event. The death toll is at 65 at the moment, and there are lots of people missing and trapped in buildings.

Thanks Barm and Eli for FBing me, sorry I didn't reply earlier, my cellphone ran out of battery.

Hopefully the power doesn't go out again.

Thank you for checking in, Moggy. Everyone is happy that you are doing alright, and at the same time we are praying for those whom are affected by the deaths and injuries caused by this earthquake.

Dang Gina.

I hope your life gets back to a sense of normalcy soon.

Blessings.

Don't loot...

I'm so relieve to hear from you Mogs! You and your city are in all our thoughts and prayers though.

I was watching the CNN coverage of this - it looks like it was just awful. I hope all your friends and family were safe too Moggy! Has school been delayed for you then?

Current tally

75 dead

300 missing

We are now in a National state of emergency.

Moggy have you had any bad after shocks?

Ive been at my course all day and so I have missed much of the news on what's happening. There are people there who know people from CHCH and many with friends. Its really effecting everyone. The worst is they dont have fresh water

I honestly was genuinely scared for all my buddies on here that I know are in NZ. Not only is it scary in general when something big like this hits any country, it really hits home when I know some of the people that are in the big danger zone.

*feels like buying a gallon of water and sending it to Mogs* >.<
