On the subject of eels, I read a Young James Bond book called Silverfin about a mad scientist who tried to create an army of eel-human hybrid supersoldiers, and he dumped the waste from his genetic research into the eel-infested lake his laboratory sits in the middle of. Needless to say, the weld became larger, hungrier and angrier, eating several people.
