Shakespeare Week Quote Class!

Featured Replies

Ok class pay attention, we will now play a game of quotes.

I will say a quote and you will all try to guess the title that it's from and the character who said it. As I will be pulling these quotes right out of my trusty leatherbound copy of "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare," I hope this to be a bit challenging. I shall also be the only mod for this game so bear with me on the time zone differences I'll do my best to keep the game rolling smoothly. With no further ado I'd like to get the ball rolling with the first quote.

Quotes used

"Do you not come you tardy son to chide,

That, lapsed in time and passion, lets go by

Th'important acting of your dread command?

O, say!"

"I never saw

Such a noble fury in so poor a thing;

Such precious deeds in one that promissed naught

But beggary and poor looks."

"Ay me, this object kills me!"

"So much fairer

And spotless shall min innocence arise,

When the king knows my truth."

"If we should fail?"

"Is't possible you will away to-night?"

"Vex not yourself, nor strive not with your breath;

For all in vain comes counsel to his ear."

"No, sir, not I; I came from Syracuse."

"Good God! Why should they mock poor fellows

thus?"

"Are, then, most humble; I have no ambition

to see a goodlier man."

"If we should fail?"

WF i know its obvious which play but still need to state which play (its kinda in the rules it would be unfair to make exceptions)

who said it silly? gotta say who and where :P

*sighs* Right right of course, but I was half awake and I could only remember it was from the play. Its not one of my faves. *laughs*

*whispers to Rasi* Cardinal Wolsey

*laughs* Thanks sis :)

Not a problem! I actually really like that play, but it's probably because I'm fascinated with that era of British History :smile:.

*waits for new quote* This is quite a memory game heh. Most of the Shakespeare I've read was in high school or the first two years of college!
