I think they're those Italian... or is it Greek? cookies that are made on a waffled thingy you dip in hot oil with just a wee bit of cookie batter on... what are they called? they have them at fairs sometimes.... anisette flavored.... but maybe these are different things...

chocolate covered tho, that's amilk chocolate bar... on top, to indicate the contents...

note the clotted cream to the side... maybe they are waffles but.... look like cookies. um.... I'm hungry now.

The biscuits are just chocolate digestives lol - a mainstay of the english biscuit market :)

Something about the phrase "chocolate digestives" makes them seem far less appealing... lol

Created during the victorian faddy food time I should think, as a healthy and nutritious snack ... And then chocolate was added.
