My favourite funny moment in a game was a few years ago - when it was raining so much it was up to the players' ankles. They kicked the ball and it flew off across the field. The players all ran to get it - expecting it to bounce and roll and stuff - and instead it landed and embedded itself into the ground like an unexploaded WWII bomb.

 

The players were all looking for it and then realised it was actually behind them, so had to turn around and run back to get it.

It was a pittsburg game - and it was the longest game ever without a score. They didn't score till after the 3rd quarter I think.
