then they really drag out the metaphor later in the book with shooting the dog from memory

sorry ASG but its one of the few books i didnt like.

 

The whole childs POV felt jarring rather than an enhancement to the story. I felt like the metaphors were heavy handed, and the characters very black and white (no pun intended)

 

reading it, it felt very much like an essay novel. Something that schools use cos it is easy to write about. Yea dunno why but i hated it
