It could be Tidus. Despite popular misconception, Yuna is the main character of X. It's her story, not Tidus's.

Nope none of those. This character is good with technology. You will need to think outside the box even though this is a character from one of the top FF games.

All I can think of atm is Brother. He did have a thing for Yuna in X-2.

Is it the pirate from 12...Balthier he was getting "close" to Ashe?

Nope not them. getting slightly warmer, though. This character fell in love with the Main character of the game. Nothing becomes of it though.
