I think you hit on it cindy - he took off his bandages, and as they were going through a tunnel, he though the surgery failed. So he jumped out the window. He didn't want to be blind anymore.

They were passing through a tunnel and it was then that he decided to remove his eye-surgery bandages. It was all dark for quite a while, so he decided all the pain was for nothing, so he killed himself.

He died from a stroke indeed after he understood what the food was (no sushi) and it was I repeat not poisonous. Ask some questions around this and around his background, profession, etc..

He died cause he figured out what the meat was and it wasn't something normal rather something horrible or exotic however you choose to look at it?

He was a spy, and the meat tasted as if he had never eaten it before because it was something poisoned by an opposing spy!
