Faile seems to be too manipulative for me. Its like she cares less about Perrin than about manipulating things. And it isn't supposed to be so, so I can't get myself to care about her.

This is kind of true.

 

Why people hate Crossroads of Twilight: "Rand isn't in it until the end! He's supposed to be the main character! I NEED MORE RANDDDDDDD!"

Actually, from what I can tell, people hate CoT cause it is slow, boring, uninvolving, and just plods along without anything ever really happening. Even without him in it, it would have been a much better book with some significant developments in the story.

Nah. CoT is a great book. It has a really bad reputation due to a couple of things:

 

No Rand

No timeline progress

That after a looooong wait

CoT was a much better book than PoD, at least. PoD - nothing happened. And Mat wasn't in it AT ALL. 

Basel, I have heard of that reason for not liking CoT but not that there isn't much of Rand.
