A NSW reptile park is calling for people to catch deadly funnel web spiders and donate them so antivenom can be made.

Because that could never go wrong.

You got that right mate. If you get bitten, you have the spider there to make the anti-venom anyway. It's a win-win.

........ how long does it take to make antivenom and how smart do you have to be to do it?

 

srsly, the rabbits were a plague to be destroyed but this here is beloved nature or something?

Haha, fortunately they don't want people to actually milk the spider, just capture it and hand it in to the wildlife park. 

 

I don't think it's a matter of conservation (although I am sure they wouldn't want people to kill the spiders). They need the venom to create the anti-venom, if people just killed all the spiders they came across, when they got bitten, there would be no anti-venom. 

so.... milk and then kill?

I was so sad when Steve Irwin died.  I loved watching his show and really enjoyed his love and enthusiasm for wildlife and nature.

look its simple  feed the spiders a bird every second week and they leave you alone.

 

Dont challenge kangaroos to boxing matches and you will live longer.

 

if you wanna avoid bluebottles   go surfing with my brother and stay 6 feet away from him. He is like a magnet for them,

 

 

Eats LOTS of vegemite. It makes you tough enuff to live here.

My sister brought me vegamite from Australia - it's not bad, but not as good as our marmite.

Just send me the TimTams and nobody gets hurt . . . !

Vegemite scares me along with other things in Australia.

Vegamite on bread with grated cheese on top, stuck under the grill. Goes really great with pea soup.

Some day I'll try timtams and see if they are all they are made out to be....
