  1. I liked how it didn't even look like Rand was trying to kill Sammael. If it was really that easy for him, does he even need Sammael as a teacher? Loved the Hills of tanchico. i actually like the show version of tanchico better the book version. Whenever i re-read the books i am always rushing through that section with a little boredom. it is funny to me that i like Elayne's singing better than thom's. i never really liked his singing from the first season. I'm loving how all the Forsaken and black ajah are scheming against each other and killing each other. Amazing. For those that criticize Matt for finding the bracelet that easily-- this is what a ta'veren does. The show didn't explain it that well, but thom did mention how Rand and Matt were tugging at the pattern. Pretty great episode overall and getting me pumped for the season finale! it looks like episode 7 will be purely two rivers.
  2. rand will confront rand. when rand is mad she will be like-- do you like my gift? we will see Sammael chained and ready to train Rand. i'm pretty sure sammael will feature alot in season 4 if Amazon doesn't cancel the show. the question to me is if they off Sammael/Asmodean amalgamate in season 3 or in season 4. if season 3 ends with a 'you? no!' moment it would be the best cliffhanger ever. please give us that fan service rafe. I will take also take that cliffhanger in season 4 as well, even if it as an episode ending cliffhanger.
  3. Not sure if anyone in this thread mentioned this yet, but i rewatched e5 again and was just noticed that the white sister was Alviarin. Between Gitara, Verin, Sheriam, and Alviarin still being at the tower there were definitely way more than the 4 black ajah hearts that Liandrin knew about. Of course, we don't know who is black ajah yet on this show. Also on Aes Sedai talk, almost all the Ajahs have been explained now except the Grey Ajah. Alviarin was first main white that we saw (I think) I don't think we have had much interaction with the Greys yet. They don't get a lot of love in the books either, but I predict we will have a Grey encounter sooner or later.
  4. Ebou Dar was mentioned. i can't remember if they mentioned it before. will be interesting to see if that city comes into play in future seasons.
  5. I enjoyed this episode, and am really enjoying seaon thus far. That said there were a few things that felt off to me about episode 5. i'll give it an 8 overall. Likes: 1. Elaida-- i was surprised by how vicious she was. I had to got back and look at the 3 Oaths to make sure she didn't break one. But Aes Sedai are indeed allowed to kill known black ajah without being threatened first. Savage, she is going to be on a warpath. 'River trash' is my new favorite insult. 2. Eamon Valda appears to have a device to find the Aes Sedai. I wonder why they won't show on screen yet. 3. Aviendha's aversion to being around Rand. I wonder how much this has to do with her visions she had in the rings. It was also cool to see her in the dream with Elayne on Seafolk boat. 4. Lan comforting Moiraine by asking her if she if she knows if she is going to die today. This seems like the perfect thing for a warrior to say. 5. Faile's fighting style. I thought it was badass. But it is also annoying to compare how effective she is versus a grey man. 6. Sisterwives! 7. Hopper and Perrin. Perrin's inner feels towards Faile being shown in his dream. I think the show missed an opportunity to show how well Perrin sees in the dark and fog. Dislikes: 1. Moiraine channeling with Sakaren. This is just a stupid Forsaken beacon and will take away from what happens when Rand and Nynaeve have their taint cleansing scene. 2. Min having a picture of Matt being hanged. This is just a lazy way to accelerate the plot. There is indication that Min draws her visions. This is just a minor dislike as I understand why they have to do this stuff for TV adaptions. 3. Having a seafolk scene with no deal being shown. This is one of the areas where the show really needs more time. Seeing a deal being made with the Seafolk before the ship passage would really convey their culture. 4. Incompetent grey men. How many times can they stab someone without their victim dying. This is getting stupid at this point. 5. Mary Sue Egwene. I love Egwene, but I don't want her to be a master of Tel'aran'rhiod in 1 scene. I really hope she gets humbled like a little schoolgirl in the next episode by the Wise Ones 6. Maxsim leaving Alanna right before he knows she is going into battle. A warder wouldn't do this. I know it was a plot device, but still...
  6. 6% from an outside source is probably not a conclusive enough data source, and could easily fall into the statistical noise category. I would be much more worried if I saw 20% drop or something substantial. only Prime has the official numbers so it will be interesting to see if they make any press release. This press release said that Reacher season 3 include viewership by 0.5% from season 2 and has the most viewers of any return season on Amazon. https://variety.com/2025/tv/news/reacher-season-3-ratings-1236336510/Wheel of time could easily show an increase, like Reacher, once the final numbers are tallied. If Amazon doesn't make a PR in the first month though, it will probably mean things aren't doing so great.
  7. i stand corrected on the wise ones going to rhuidean twice, haven't read the books since Sanderson finished them up over a decade ago. I agree about the Bore. I mean we pretty much have to see Shayol Ghul at some point, right? I can understand why they didn't want to show it so soon to avoid comparisons to LOTR. I'm also curious to see if we will get a Shaidar Haran. It seems like we might since they have already talked about Naeblis and the true power now. A visit to Shayol Ghul would be pretty epic though. I truly can't wait.
  8. tried to reply to this thread without reading anyone else's replies first. a few thoughts; 1. pretty much perfect episode. single best adapted episode directly from the books 2. this is one of the few wheel of time episodes with no cold open 3. absolutely loved all the book references about Tam being a blademaster, the flame and the void, Laman's pride and the Aiel war, and the whole chain of events that took place to connect Moiraine and Rand 4. the only thing that kind of annoyed me was Aviendha going to Rhuidean so early. This means we won't get the excellent book scene of Aviendha finally stepping up and acknowleding herself as a Wise One. this also means no Nakomi. 5. No separate Choedan Kal and Callandor--- this is all fine, but I really hope we still get Rand's breakdown scene on dragonmount where he break's the male Choedan Kal. 6. all of Aiel scenes were fantastic, but I don't think they gave the viewer a very good scale of how many Jenn Aiel were there.
  9. this show has the spirit of matt cauthon correct, but i think they need to do a better job at some of the things they are saying. matt would never boast about having other man's memories. Matt was an inherently untrusting person, even more so after he touched the dagger. Matt wouldn't boast of being the horn-blower, having special abilities, or even tell Aes Sedai to help heal him. He wouldn't even let Moiraine try to help him with this 'headaches' at Rhuidean. What they are doing is funny, but it also comes at the cost of a few of Matt's key personality traits. there are other ways to show that he is a rogue and a gambler. Matt didn't need to brag to girls about being the horn blower because he already had dozens of lifetimes encoded in his head. He could already woo women with his charm and all his dances. Plus, I'm sure they are holding off on his lucky, but they haven't really delved into his special gambling abilities yet.
  10. How does that work? I kept wondering how he does the compulsion in an instant without speaking or communicating in any visible way. not sure if it worked like that in the books, at least that wasn't my impression from the books
  11. watched the first 3 episodes. This season is great so far-- I can't imagine why book readers would have too many issues with what has been shown so far. Shoreh Aghadashloo has been one of my favorite actresses since the expanse-- I absolutely cannot wait for her to go into full boss mode. She is great at that and I expect her performance to attract some attention. I am very curious why she has those tremors-- some kind of PTSD from visions maybe? It was a little odd to see Gawyn and Galad getting some action with the novice/accepted already. They are both the same cocky personality so far. I am interested to see them differentiate into the Gawyn and Galad's we know from the books. The only thing I didn't really like so far is that the show is putting too much suspicion on Verin already. Verin taking over Sheriam's role for discovering the grey man is a little risky as we don't want the endpoint spoiled too early. Finally, i agree with John from wotup that amazon would be morons to cancel this show. I haven't seen the whole season like John, but this show is already better than almost all of Amazon's other sci-fi/fantasy show. definitely enjoying more than the Witcher and Rings of Power now. Not sure if it is on par with The Boyz or Dance of Dragons yet, but I think it is definitely getting there. After the first season, I definitely wouldn't have said that.
  12. this show has officially become badass. the choice of forsaken is interesting. Who is the last remaining forsaken; demandred or asmodean? Rahvin already using compulsion on everyone is quite interesting. Mat Cauthon is really making his mark. this show was desperately missing his comedic value. His scene with Siuan was classic--- and the fight with Galad and Gawyn was on point. That scene alone will probably bring in new watchers once it gets posted on social. Verin took over Sheriam's role for the post Grey man death with the girls. I don't like that they are giving her too much suspicion already. Melindra being Malkieri is probably a good way to build in the Aiel respect for Lan. Loving the Black Ajah even more now after their brutal wedding take down. The one power weaves, compulsion weaves, ect are looking way better this season. Everything about the cinematography from the two rivers to Aiel waste is a major improvement as well. Still waiting to see what happens with the Redstone doorway in Tar Valon. Min had the vision, so Mat's leaving party is somehow going to be steered in that direction before they depart (almost certainly next episode).
  13. just watched it. to me, this is the single best wheel of time episode yet so many callbacks to the books, finally some good humor with Matt, bubbles of evil kind of, Maiden's kiss, Elayne and Aviendha getting it on, grey man, massive Aes Sedai battle, Lan's Malkieri blade, Egwene's accepted test, Matt's new memories linked to the horn, Moiraine losing control of Rand, Egwene's resolve... and so much more Very strong first episode, we have got to spread the word

i rewatched all the episodes prior to season 2. can't motivate myself to rewatch this time. but i did rewatch episode 8. i'm waiting for the youtube recap on 'unraveling the pattern' which is coming soon. i'm really hoping season 3 is the season that gets rid of all lot of the baggage that held back the first 2 seasons; Perrin's wife, matt's bad family and change in actor, terrible season 1 ending, too much focus on steppin, not enough focus on the male characters, terrible season 2 ending fight scene against ishamael, etc. It looks like a lot of this stuff naturally drops off anyway. perrin is finally meeting faile and hopefully the wife never gets mentioned again after season 3, matt/perrin/rand all get more focus, and movement into the best books of the wot. if they nail this season, the audience should grow significantly. if not, it could be the end...
  16. i agree with this. rahvin was a pretty useless forsaken who never had any devleopment. sammael was also not very well-developed. fans thought there was going to be a huge showdown after the battle at cairhien and the build-up in 'a crown of swords' that led to the ilian/shadar logoth show-down. then fans were properly pissed at how quickly rj offed sammael. combining them does make sense. not really sure who the other 2 forsaken would be. but they pretty much have to include demandred, and it would be awesome if they combined him with taim. semirhage would be pretty cool, but i liked what somebody said about a'rangar/halima. plus this a very lgbtq friendly show so it wouldn't surprise me if they wanted to put a trans character in the series.
  17. my guess for seaon 3 forsaken is lanfear, moghiedien, and Asmodean. If the 8 forsaken are Lanfear, Moghedien, Graendal, Sammael, Ishamael, Asmodean, Demandred, and Semirhage then I don't expect too many more to show up in season 3. Maybe we get another couple Forsaken introduced at the end of the season like Moghedien was introduced at the end of season 2.
  18. i would just like all the stupid decisions to finally be over. perrin/matt/rand can finally be badasses again as they started to be at the end of season 2. i am really hoping this is the season that reaches critical mass. season 2 was quite good, except for a slightly questionable ending. if season 3 can finally stay high level all the way to the finale, they may finally build some hype. let's also get some real sexual tension/relationship stuff going too. The show needs to start spicing the audience with all the relationships that are in the books other than the rand/lanfear stuff from season 2. I feel like the show hasn't done that great yet with the relationships. there needs to be major jealously, hookups, and more to setoff the raging Lanfear at the end of the season. So many possibilities here: Perrin/Faile, Rand/Aviendha/Elayne/Min/Lanfear, Nynaeve/Lan, Gaul and his ladies, Forsaken orgies, Matt Cauthon actually showing his game, and more. And hopefullt we get the Moiraine/Lanfear showdown in the last episode so that the show can finally proceed without giving so much screen-time to Rosamund Pike. This season pretty much has to end with Lanfear and Moiriaine falling into the redstone doorway, right? Really more than anything we need viewers and we need an approval for season 4 ASAP.
  19. I'm not sure who runs the Prime video team, but they need work on pretty much all of their series. Most of their sci-fi/fantasy series just aren't that good. The Boyz is an exception because it is a purposely offensive show and is not trying to appeal to certain ideologies that seem to be pervasive in the TV space these days. The most highly viewed shows on Amazon seem to be masculine/testoserone fueled show like Jack Reacher/Jack Ryan/The Boyz. Therefore wheel of time does not need to nerf all their male characters to get viewership. Wheel of time could really have used some more bombastic/over-the-top testosterone and humor to help create some more tension and emotional connection in the show. Stop trying to pander to everyone and let it be ok to offend some people and stay a little more true to the books. The first season whiffed on the men so hard that it is really tough to even get people back into the show. Even season 2 has really messed up the plot arc of Lan, as he still is not built up to be the badass that he is. Hopefully season 3 can start letting the characters be themselves. The only agenda should be the agenda of the books, and the entertainment of the viewers.
