Filmmaker Joe Wright ("Pride and Prejudice," "Atonement") is looking to develop a live-action film adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's fairytale "The Little Mermaid" for Working Title Films says The Hollywood Reporter. First published in 1837, this incarnation of the tale of a young mermaid who gives up her life in the sea to love a human prince will be adapted by Abi Morgan ("Brick Lane"). I think this has good potential. Definitely on my list of movies to watch

First up, has anyone else gone to see this yet? I don't want to go into too much detail yet, as I don't want to give away too many spoilers. Hence why my "review" below is restricted. I went on Friday night with my girlfriend, and thoroughly enjoyed it - once I got over my initial annoyance at Russell Crowe's Irish accent at the beginning, which then disappears in the film. The film focused on Hood's early history - so finding out about his family and rise to becoming an outlaw. Cate Blanchett was very good as Marian, bringing maturity to the role compared to the usual "young lass" that has been portrayed in the past. Roll on the sequel when we find out more ab…

Baseball approaches. Less than a month until spring Training, and a little over a month until the regular season. Since there are no other sports that interest me currently in season I am anxiously looking forward to Baseball. My AL Team, the Red Sox are going to be Brilliant... and I can only hope my NL Cubbies can figure something out. Hopeful pre-season World Series prediction - Cubs, Red Sox Actual pre-season World Series prediction - not going to make one yet.

Anybody else psyched? I saw the first season and was like WTF is this? My sister told me they were based on a book series so I read em all (Couldn't help it) but I'm still able to enjoy the show. Which surprises me. Unlike that other recent show I couldn't stand based on a book series I mostly enjoyed. Season 3 EP 1 was this last Sunday and it's on Sundays at...I'm not sure what time cause I watch it online. On HBO. I didn't see any thread about it so if there's another one go ahead and move this mods. A preemptive "My bad." :]

Than watching your fantasy baseball team climb the roto (not H2H) standings? Three weeks ago, I was languishing in 10th place in my 11 team league, 60+ points out of first. A few tweaks later, and after yesterday's 12 point jump I'm in second place, just a point back of first. What makes it better is that this is a 7x7 league using custom categories I had no experience with until last year, when I got crushed: BB and K for hitters, net stolen bases and net saves rather than straight SB or SV, and total bases and L as pitching catefories. So doing well this year is kind of sweet! Anyone else happy with their teams?

So USC Football got a kick to the jewels today. 2 year post season ban, and loss of 30 scholarships (over 3 years). USC Basketball self imposed a 1 year post season ban and also voluntarily reduced Basketball scholarships. Between the two teams dozens of wins were vacated.

okay, so the 4th and final season of this show starts in april. until then, showtime has decided to start showing 2 epi's every sunday beginning the first sunday in january. they will begin with the first episode of season 1 :) this is a great show, though not for kids as it has mature content in it. it follows King Henry the 8th, and his 6 wives. this show is great :) it has love, lust, drama, politics, murder, scheming, beheadings, torture, plotting, revenge and everythign else in between. btw, Chromwell is a complete turd ... just saying *nods* anwyays, anyone watch the show?? if not and your looking for a good show to follow, this is a sh…

Apparently this action RPG by Obsidian is getting mixed reviews. It's currently sitting at 67 on Metacritic. Gamespot, IGN, Gametrailers and Game Informer gave it 60, 63, 64 and 65 respectively and common criticisms are poor gameplay, rough production values, and bugs. Makes me worry even more for the WoT game that Obsidian is supposed to help with...
