What are some of your favorite movies that came from a book? For me Shawshank Redemption would be right up there. Then maybe Godfather. I refused to put LOTR in my list.

Well, potential awesomeness on the big screen at least... http://www.cinescape.com/0/editorial.asp?aff_id=0&this_cat=Movies&action=page&type_id=&cat_id=270338&obj_id=51205 I still haven't decided if I should be excited or afraid....

They did a special 25th anniversary screening of "Raiders of the Lost Ark" last night at the Fabulous Fox Theater in Atlanta. The Fox is one of the last surviving movie palaces in the US. It was originally intended for use as the Shriners headquarters, so it has a gorgeous art deco Arabesque theme to the decor. My senior prom was held there, in the Eqyptian Ballroom. They use it mainly for traveling Broadway shows and things like that, but in the summers they do movies again. Seeing Raiders on the big screen was just pure awesome. This movie came out just after I was born, so I never had a chance to see it like this. Movies like this are even better with cr…

The project, to be written by Abrams and "M:i:III" screenwriters Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, will center on the early days of seminal "Trek" characters James T. Kirk and Mr. Spock, including their first meeting at Starfleet Academy and first outer space mission. For those of you that don't know... Abrams is the creator of Lost and Alias. It looks like they are kicking it old school style....

Stephen King's epic novel IT is being developed as a new TV movie. The script will be written by Peter Filardi. The Sci Fi Channel will air the film in what is reported to be a four-hour broadcast event. Reports suggest that Filardi will tell the story through the eyes of Beverly Marsh. There is no timetable for release as of yet.

I thought this might be a good topic of conversation as this genre is sometimes overlooked in thinking about movies. I just finished The Machinist and I would highly recommend this movie to anyone that likes this genre. It was a little disturbing but brilliantly directed. I like when I can think back on a movie and see how evertything connects. Anyway, on to the discussion. What movies would you group in this category? Which one kept you up at night trying to make all the connections? Here are a few of mine... The Machinist Mulholland Drive Jacob's Ladder American Psycho - I actually have not seen this entire movie yet... sad Memento Lost Highway

Bloody Disgusting got a report from a scooper regarding ALIEN VS PREDATOR 2. Here is the basic gist: - None of the cast from ALIEN VS PREDATOR will be returning. - Movie will be set in a different time. - Studio wants Sigourney Weaver to play a part. - Weaver hated the idea behind the film. ALIEN VS PREDATOR 2 is a 20th Century Fox film and is aiming for an August 10, 2007 release. There is not much official news out yet on the film.

4400 is back in about a week. I was feeling all sad that my regular season shows were all ending and I've not got much to watch on TV right now. Then comes the teaser for the return of The 4400 in early June. Yeah for summer season shows. Plus the show badass.

Hello everyone. Here is what is going on. Nominate your favorite shows for DM's 1st Seggie Awards... they are like Emmy's but they are named after Seggie.... yeah. I will edit my post as nominations come in and once I feel everyone has had a say, will post polls for each category for everyone to vote on. As you can see, I have already put a few nominations up to get the ball rolling. Have fun! Oh: To be eligible for said awards, the program must have run between June 1, 2005 and May 31, 2006. Okay. Here's the scoop on this thread. This will be our revised old movie trailers thread. You can either let me know (i.e. PM) or post onto this thread (unless it becomes locked...) when some new trailer or bit of information (no plot spoilers, please!) for an upcoming/just released movie. This should be kept up to date (we'll really make a conscious effort). So let's see what you've got. That is all. Luvi

1. Battlestar Galactica 2. Lost 3. Grey's Anatomy 4. The Office 5. Sopranos 6. West Wing 7. Nip/Tuck I still watch CSI but it seems to be getting old for me. Montage after montage and some quick witted humor. I am excited about the new seasons of Deadwood and Entourage, but then again, I am a HBO whore. The new shows I am most excited about for next season are: 1. Dresden Files - Love the books 2. Aaron Sorkin's new show - Don't even care what it is about 3. Heroes

Well, it's that time of year again. The weather's turning warmer, the flowers are blooming... the circle of life begins again. But, just as all things have a beginning, all things have an end. So we enter into the end of several excellent series on TV. Which will you miss most next year? I'll start with one. I was always a big West Wing fan, even through the lean years (seasons 5&6). This season has picked up again, and there's some great moments left to come I'm sure. Still, I will miss it next year when it's gone. It's time for it to go; this I would agree on. It's been around for it's time, and the stories were getting thin. With the derth of TV shows…

I thought it might be good to compile a list of resources we use for movie and TV trivia. The Internet Movie Database http://imdb.com/ Very comprehensive, occasionally wrong, but useful. TV.com Comprehensive listing of every TV show that ever aired. More or less. Episode guides, airdates, cast information & more. What else do you use?

Just to make Empy boy happy, I'm starting up this. Both about the season finale, and the show in general. Anyone got any funny theories? I'm very curious about the broken stsue, and what kind of "people" that made it. 4 toes? And will Michael and Walt actually be able to leave, or will they find themselves back on the island after a while, just like Desmond? Or maybe what Henry calls "safety" will not be what Michael expects...

I recommend to those who have not seen the movie but plan on it to just hit the back button and move along. You have been warned. (scroll down) Keep Going :) Almost There …

What do you think? Should the movie have the SG1 cast or take off after the original movie? Will we be seeing more Stargate? Brad Wright, co-executive producer of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis sure thinks so. Mentioned as possible upcoming projects were a third TV series, a movie, and a massively multiplayer online role-playing game. "What we've built is now bigger than all of us," Wright said. "Even if I were to not do the movie, I know somebody is going to do a Stargate movie. It's the second largest franchise for MGM next to Bond. So it's got significant brand potential, and by two series doing as well as they are and a game coming out, that could reall…
