Suvudu Cage Match: http://sf-fantasy.suvudu.com/2012/04/cage-match-round-5-anomander-rake-versus-moiraine-damodred.html I'm sure none of wants Moiraine to lose, right? Right??!!

  2. Talya sparked an idea ... have you come across names for business that make you laugh, snort, groan or just metaphorically tip your hat for the inventiveness? Name them here! I'll start with 2. The plumbing company we've been using is called "2daLoo Plumbing". The (we think) building company (could be scaffolding) with the best name so far, is called "The Best Erection in Town".

  3. Welcome to the Feast of Fools!! Yes, it's time for the most waited and greatest event in WT: Green ajah's Feast of Fools! As the name tells, the whole Tower is really gone insane now. So I am currently studying at the University of Pretoria (UP), but am considering changing to a correspondence course with the University of South Africa (UNISA), simply because it is *a lot* more practical. The only thing I am worried about is whether the UNISA degree will be recognised less than the UP one (cause they often say that any idiot can get admitted to study at UNISA). The last thing I want happening is to finish studying and be told that my degree is below standard or something. Now, what I was wondering is whether any of you guys could advise any ways in which one could investigate a matter like this? Thanks in advance for any that reply!

Just did a little skim through of a few threads on the WT main board dating from 2006 up until now.... and I learned a lot! 1) Jenn used to be around here a lot 2) Claire was pretty cool 3) There was mafia here!?! 4) Pudding!?* 5) Sporks?!* 6) Ed totally stole this idea <.< 7) Ed obviously didn't see this thread though :P (unless he was a temporary ring when the Painted Tower existed?) 8) Fnorrll used to be fun?!!? O.o 9) Mills hasn't changed :) 10) I knew I loved Chrissy.... 11) Nyan and I haven't changed in the last 7 months :P (though I did the rest of my screaming on this subject somewhere else... A few other somewheres actually....) *would lik…

It was a year ago today that I joined DM! I'd seen links to the site for a couple of years since I began reading the books, but it took until I was partway through The Fires of Heaven before I actually registered. And now it's been a whole year.

I have been listening for my friends discussing when it's Spring (one of them is from Moscow the other from Kiev(Ukraine)). The one from Moscow said it's when snow is melting, streams of water from roofs and on the roads and everywhere. And the other said: no! it's Winter. Spring is when chestnut trees are in blossom. I'm very curious what do you think? How do you know when Spring came? Looking at calender? Snow melted? Days become longer? It stopped/started raining? Something special is in blossom? Some birds returned? Or something else? For me the feeling that spring is here comes in February or March when it's about -10C and waist-deep s…

So, how many ajah *does* it take to screw in a light bulb? Blue: Two; one to change the bulb and one to confuse the issue. Brown: Three; one to look up the previous references, one to compile an index, and one to record how it gets done... by another ajah. Green: One, plus a warder to screw with. Grey: "Well, how many do you think it should take?" Red: "That's not funny, burn you!" White: [Pauses, goes to change a light bulb, returns.] "One." Yellow: Three; one to change the bulb, one to learn how it died, and one to try heal the dead one *anyway*. Black: Two; one to change the bulb, and the other to secretly change it back. http://wotopi…

So a more light-hearted version of this thread that the Sword Captain made in regards to Mother. You all should read that btw. As many of you know (or don't >.> ) she just recently had surgery, but all is well and she is home. She is currently working on healing and getting healthy again. She should be back in no time You should all still send lots of good and healthy thoughts *nods*

Maybe it's a little early to bring up the subject, but I am super super excited. I have never gone to any of the Cons. I have always had to work, or something came up. Anyways, I just found out that the husband will be at Mojave Viper for the entire month of April. (That means in Cali in the heat in the middle of deployment training stuff). So, this means April 20-22, I am free! So, watch out people! Christine is going to JordanCon and is totally freekin pumped! Anyone else have plans to go?

Welcome one and all to the International Women's Week Crossword. Everyone Welcome I had planned on making a few changes to this crossword as I made a few mistakes in development but as I am handicapped without the internet at home, we will have to make do. I apologise for this poorly designed format. And an extra clue on 8 across (because I was a stupid male) there is a space between the two words, so feel free to leave a letter blank. How to Play: PM me your answers, it as simple as that and I'll announce the winners as they come in. I/We planned to have a sig made by the end of the event for the winners. Don't forget to scroll to the b…

We know there is quite a bit of talent among our fellow DMers in the art of writing. Some of you prefer to use poetry, others are more drawn to writing short stories while still others may have a secret love for funny stories or straight forward news-style articles. Whatever way of writing appeals to you, we want to hear from you. Welcome, to the Writing Competition of the IWW 2012 event! Your challenge: Write an article in whichever form or style you wish on the topic of this year's International Woman's Day: Connecting Girls, Inspiring Futures Rules: Your article must be well written, grammar and spellchecked and be bet…

Also, here is an outline so you know what’s coming up: • Traditional Role of Women/Women in the Workforce • Traditional Careers/Jobs: Are they overlooked, underpaid, considered subordinate? Why? • Non-Traditional Careers/Jobs: Would you raise a brow to a woman mechanic? Construction worker? President? Why? What struggles do women in these career fields face? So hey everyone!!! The Red Ajah's annual International Women's Week is just on our doorstep and as we did last year, we are making individual sigs for everyone again. For those that are new or are no longer quite sure what IWW is all about (shame on you ), it is an event that the Red Ajah hosts every year in the honour of International Women's Day. We're hosting the event for two weeks again this year, so there will be plenty of time to flaunt your new signature. The event officially starts in a few days, but as RL is an evil monster and pretty sigs take time, I am posting this thread early so we can all be ready and spiffy as the event begins! Last year we h…

The goal of this thread is to inform and start a dialogue about the happy and not so happy facts surrounding gender equality. Where applicable, I'll let you know the sources for facts, and I appreciate you do the same as you comment, leave commentary, or supply additional/refuting facts. let's try to keep it civil and respectful. Each topic will run for about 2-3 days, depending on how the discussion is going. If it's not, I'll move on, if it's hot n'heavy, I'll get it go for a bit longer! _______ First up, a fun fact! Did you know the United Nations has gender equality training online? Topics include a flash video on gender equality training, quizzes about gen…

Our family is spreading around the world and I want to make a family get together place that's based around a family cookbook thing. The idea is that we would put up recipes of dishes that each person in the family is known for, with photos of them, and a short little blurb about them. This could expand into also putting up a simple family tree. I would like this all to be very simple and uncluttered, and easy for people to add to. Can anyone recommend a theme / theme options, etc, that would work for this?

Welcome, Every year, the Red Ajah organises a big event centered around the international event of International Woman's Day in the real world. Last year we extended the event to two weeks in honour of the 100th birthday of this event and this year we've decided to go with two weeks again. Simply because we have lots in store for you and want to give it the full attention that it deserves. Each year, the IWD chooses a theme around which to center the event which people and organisation, institutions and groups can organise their own local events around the world. You can view what people come up with all around the world on the International Woman's Day website.…

So I know it's a bit late considering there was just a big event for this but I stumbled across something... excluding the fact that the book itself is based off of an acid trip (acid was a big thing when this book was written I'm unsure if the author personally was doing acid or was just observing those around him) the disney rendition is pretty f'd up The whole paint the roses red scene if you dig into it is VERY dark, White roses symbolize death and seeing as the queen is always shouting off with his/her head the scene can only mean one of 2 things, the red could either be symbolizing the blood spilt in physically offing someones head or covereing up that her k…

The wolfpack proudly stood in the shadow of Dragonmount, facing the tower. Within their pack came numerous vats of chili and bottles of tequila. They were prepared to invade Tar Valon, and the White Tower itself. They headed forward, over the bridges, and through the streets, until they finally arrived in the Training Yard. Standing at the base of the tower, Chrissy, Wolfkin Mommy, fiddled with her Gray Ribbons, and then hopped into the nearest chili vat and started drinking from a tequila bottle. WOLFKIN! INVADE!
