In light of Jason's new and awesome tattoo, can I ask the community if anyone has tattoos of the dragons wrapping round their forearms? Seriously considering getting them myself, but I fear I might anger Mangin.

Firstly, I'd like to apologize if this theory has already been mentioned, perhaps in a different form. However, I truly welcome insightful feedback, and in advance I thank everyone for reading this post. My speculation below is merely one way that the books can end, but I'd like to discuss the viability. A few points I'd like to lay out to make my case: 1. Lews Therin failed to properly reseal the bore last time, when he used the One Power. Rand speculates that this was because only saidin was used. (His alter-ego "Lews Therin", however, suggests that the fundamental problem is that "Something" has to touch the bore/the Dark One in order to seal him.) 2. Mieri…

I tried to search for a thread on this subject, as I don't want to be that annoying new guy that makes a post on something that has been thoroughly discussed already. Well I didn't find anything on this subject, so I will just throw it out there. Most darkfriends seem to think that the DO wants to recreate the universe in his own image. This seems rather plausible as a goal for the DO, and I guess it makes sense that he reward those who helped hi to do this. On the other hand Moridin theorizes that the goal of the DO is simply to destroy the universe. This latter idea is the one that seems to be most popular among the posters here at DM (at least as far as I can tell…

Fist of all, I am sorry if this is too bold for s.o. as new as me or the wrong placew, but I seem to not find my way around this forum so, since I feel a strong desire to discuss things I needed to start somewhere. And I didn't find this topic somewhere else. In my opinion, Sandersson did a great job, the naration is continoued beautifully, and I am very happy with that. However there are small changes, as is to be expected and I am not complaining. But being the nerd that I am, I can not help noticing and wanted to start a collection of such details. 1. Tan Sanderson really likes the word tan, the landscape and the Aiel are very tan since he started writing WoT.…

Hi Wheel Of Time Fans, As i'm currently rereading the wheel of time series i have started to realize that there is less and less Rand as the books progress. To me it's very disappointing due to that fact that all of the action happens around him and that his is the main character. I was just wondering if others found this to and felt the same way as I do.

  7. Will or can the Pattern allow for an absolute victory over the dark one? What if the Dark One is the thread that holds the rest of the Pattern together? Likewise then, Evil could never truely triumph over light. The very nature of a pattern is that it repeats itself over and over. Looking at it another way, if the Dark one is removed from the wheel of time, might the wheel break. When the wheel comes around again and the Dark One isn't there, what will fill the void. An example of the pattern repeating itself is: LT rambles to Rand that the female ais sedia refused to help him seal the bore forcing him to close it with an infirior seal. Egwene is already playing t…

The most uninspired character I've ever had the displeasure of getting acquainted with. Must have been hard to come up with a character like that, and even harder to write about. Hmmm, what would be a good character... Ah yeah, one that's unstoppable in every way, and he should have three lovers, who don't mind sharing him because he's the epitome of awesome. Oh yeah! And in case something happens, let it be his destiny to succeed, that'll be incredibly exciting to read about. There's one issue though. What if he faces an army of a million men? No worries, he'll just blow them up with magic, since he's invincible. Oh, and he should use a ninja sword, one of the most infer…

Hi, New here. Hope I'm posting in the correct place. But enough about that. To the topic. I was doing a sketch of Lanfear, and I wanted to make a wear a necklace with a large medallion. My problem is, what symbol to put in the medallion. I don't remember reading anywhere if she had a particular symbol (like Elayn or Morgase, but then they are royalty) Does she have her own symbol? Do any of the forsaken for that matter? If she doesn't have her own, what do you think would suit best for her medallion? I was thinking the Aes Sedai symbol, but I don't believe you'd usually see Lanfear going around wearing that! Thanks in advance!

I have seen quite alot of WoT themed tattoos, they are mostly the symbols we see in the book. Nothing wrong with that! But I started thinking about more "subtle" WoT themed tattoos, something a fan would instantly recognise, but to a not-Woteranian would be just a cool tattoo. Here are some of my ideas, do you have any? -A veiled Aiel -A woven pattern that is supposed to represent the weavings of saidar -Portrait: Moraine with the kesiera next to Nynaeve with the ki'sain, separated by a braided leather cord -A tower that is half white, black. Or two towers next to each other. -A red eagle (for Manetheren) -A falcon and a hawk -A hammer and an axe -Glowing y…

So I was thinking. There is so much raw info that has yet to happen and be revealed to tie off all these endings. Now in the last few chapters Rand states that he will break the seals in a few days after he meets with Eqwene. If Rand does break the seals in those days theres no way we will be able to figure out all these loose ends because Tarmon gaidon will have started! Any thoughts on What will happen when Rand comes to meet with the different kingdoms?

Olver is the creator! and its all one big game to him. You can think of the trip to the tower was like a mini game with Mat and Co being his pieces. Its no wonder Mat is always hearing dice as he is the taveren that's closest to the creator playing his eternal game of life. =p

You know I have been reading WOT since high school I’m 33 now. I must say to read Brandon s Sanderson’s Feb news-letter and see Late November as being an optimistic time frame drives me insane. I know there are going to be a hundred people who will stand behind doing whatever it takes to get it right! Come on though we have been waiting for this for what almost three years… Well anyway for all of you upset as the title says don’t be mad at the new guy. I’m sure that my frustration is felt by the majority of the people following WOT, and if not again I apologize for the blasphemy it is not my intention to offend only to express my disappointment with the process. There may already be posts relating to this, but i'm looking forward to finding out where Alanna dissapeared to late in TOM and also where Logain is currently. We see through Androl (in the black tower) that Logain is overdue to return, and that he is not with Rand currently, so what is he up to? No doubt preparing to retake the black tower off Taim... but i hope we get to see some insight into where he is and what he is doing.

In book 6, chapter 39, Egwene says "Once the first blood was shed between Salidar and Tar Valon, it would be difficult to make the tower whole again". There are others who make declarations with similar meaning, and also the Salidar Aes Sedai are acting in accordance with that attitude (the way they received emissary from Tar Valon for example). Isn't that just ludicrous? Elaida and her associates stilled and tortured Siuan and Leane. In the ensuing battle, a lot of Aes Sedai were killed and a lot of warders. Blues were all but exiled from the tower. One of their agents was dosing rebels with forkroot and sending them to the tower (or at least tried to do so with Nin…

It's evening here and I was just heading off to sleep listening to one of the 4th age podcasts. Something that stood out to me was Mat and the Horn All through the series we have been hearing how the Horn is true to the person who blows it up to their death. At the same time we heard Mat would Die and live once more So my question is; did Mat's "death" cut his ties to the horn and therefore it is now open for anyone? Cos he did die, in a way

I just started my first reread of The Great Hunt have have some questions about "Darkfriend Social" in the prologue. Have the people noticed by Bors all been identified in the series? I know that Bors is Jaichim Carridin, the Shieneran is Intar, One of the Aes Sedai is Liandrin, though I don't know who the other is. The others I don't know......Though I assume that the high ranking Queen's Guardsman is Daved Hanlon/Doilan Mellar. I can't figure out which one of the High LOrds was there or any of the rest that Bors noticed. Does anyone know who each of them is?

So I've always just taken the idea of the shawl as what it is, but what does it really look like? Does anyone have any images or drawing of their own or even creations of their own that shows what it looks like??? I know that it has colored fringe according to ajah and the flame of tar valon on the back (and it seems that there is always some sort of vine on it too) but I am having a hard to getting a solid image of it in my head. Sorry if there is already a thread about this, I couldn't find anything to search the forums and there are a lot of threads to skim through.

I was just amusing myself by thinking about self help books being written by the forsaken or any other W.O.T. character so i am looking for any funny suggestions. I will start it off with "How to win friend and influence people" by Kamarile Maradim Nindar (Graendal)

  24. Hey guys! I thought it would be interesting to start a thread about the couples in the book (sorry if there was already one that I didn't see). For example, if Mat wasn't destinied to marry Tuon who would be the best match for him? And if Rand had to choose only one of his three girls, would you want it to be Min, Aviendha or Elayne? I have a feeling that a lot of people will say something about Faile and Perrin but personally I can't think of someone for Perrin...Berelain maybe? :D I think it would have been fun for Mat to end up with (and I know that it will upset some of you)..Elayne. It's just that he's always saving her and they can't stand each other (at least…

So we know that the borderlands are swarming with shadowspawn, and that saldea's capital only just held on with a great captain leading the defence and rand's timely aid. So how did the others fare?? we also know that the borderland army is not returning home but rather going to rands big meeting... So how will the other borderlands hold on while they are waiting for their armies to return?? What do people think? which nations will be obliterated whilst they wait for aid?

This might be the wrong board for this, but none of the other ones looked better. I'm curious whether there are going to be any updates to the WOT FAQ in the near future. If I recall correctly, there was an update planned for it sometime in 2011, but it seems like that never panned out. Any news on the matter?

Hi all, when looking at the battle at Dumai's Well I can't help thinking that Perrin's action weren't really important in saving the Lord Dragon. I mean the AS holding Rand start tying off the shield before Perrin and his troops get close to them, therefore they must have been distracted by the Shaido and their WO. Then the Ashaman's arrive to the rescue, by then Perrin's force is very likely to get quickly overwhelmed without support and Rand has freed himself and he is clubbing AS right and left. So can this really be the first time Perrin is meant to save Rand? Isn't Taim more likely to be the key player on that rescue, or maybe Rand himself?

It might just be me being blind. But I'm on another reread, and Im currently at aPoD. It suddenly hit me, with the odd Ebou Dari fashions (the sewn up skirts, the oval necklines) that I can't ever remember and Aes Sedai being seen in anything remotly similar. A lot of sisters do keep some of the fashions from their native countries, after all. For the life of me I cannot remember right now what the fashions elsewhere in Altara is, but I do think it weird, since I think that we have seen sister from every single one of the big cities. Thoughts?
