This just slapped me in the face today, after realizing the foreshadowing involved. It is nearly assured that we will see the men return to the White Tower in some form or another. I am sure a lot of other things have been said about it, but I missed it the first time through. Your thoughts ?

Mat is Aemon Reborn, and Tuon is Elderene Reborn. What is known about Aemon and Elderene - last KING and QUEEN of Mantherene where she was an Aes Sedai (POWER USER) bonded to Aemon - her husband and Warder. Aemon was leader of the Heart Guard and a general in battle, who also directed the Band of the Red Hand. What we know of Tuon and Mat -- EMPRESS of the Seanchan, able to use the POWER (trains damane), her husband Mat is a general in battle, and has memories of directing battles in Mantherene prior to the Finn's giving him these extra memories. If Rand who is Taveren can be Lews Therin Reborn, why cannot Matrim Cauthorn who is a Taveren be Aemon Reborn. …

I've mostly lurked here at DM, but i just had to add my 2 cents. All I can say is that The Gathering Storm was simply fantastic! One of the best WOT books in my humble opinion. It was really Egwene's book and she rocked! Now the end really feels near. Can't wait to get my teeth into TOM.

Dont know if someone else has spoken about these things already? Then please tell me. 1. Caidal Cain is Olver. Olver is plain ugly, and is growing up to being a mercenary. Birgitte is already fond of him, unluckely she was cast into the world a little to early. OK I see this has its own thread. 2. Verin is alive. Why do you think Brandon had to add that awkward story in TGS of the village of dying and coming back to life every day? And why did Verin go there? Ofcourse so she could travel via gateway to the white tower, take her life, tell Egwene the secrets of the Black Ajah in her last breaths, and then die and just be reborn into the village of undead the next d…

I started reading the Wheel of Time in the summer of 2000, right after graduating from high school. It was love at first read. I read obsessively trying to chew through the series as fast as I could (at the time I had not yet realized that the series was unfinished), I just had to know how everything turned out in the end. I followed the character arcs and mostly responded typically e.g. I loved Mat from book 3 on and my love for his pov chapters just kept growing, I became increasingly frustrated with Rand's choices, and increasingly disgusted with Perrin's Faile oh my Faile storyline. That said any storyline from one of the super girl's perspective was not somethin…

I noticed a couple things in Aviendha's trip through the rings in TOM. First, some of the lives Aviendha lives are within what would be within her natural lifespan, such as her daughter and granddaughter. Aviendha does not appear in these visions. She is mentioned exactly one time, but never actually shows up even when it would be reasonable for her to be there, such as the meeting in her daughter's life. Elayne also should still have been queen during the part where the queen of Andor was shown (No more than 60 years after the end of the series). What gives? Is this a statement that Aviendha's and Elayne's days are numbered?

Hi. I'm looking for the best (most popular, longest, insert synonym here, etc.) thread on the forums for theories about the series ending, and for how most of the major plot threads might be resolved. I like loony, but at this point, realistic is preferred. Please don't send me to a thread telling me how Rand is actually Asmodean in disguide, and with Bela's help he will replace the DO, father a love child with Taim, and make Tuon the Amyrlin Seat. I like stuff like that, but this close to the end, I really want to know what other fans who have read the entire series more than once think will actually happen. I've tried to do a few searches, but cannot seem to loc…

I admit that this is a wild theory, but I like the idea of it and it would be a nice twist to bring something full circle. This idea occurred to me after having read some of the threads here and especially after having read someone's thoughts outlining the difference between prophecies that act as recognition signs and prophesies that act as warning signs. Or otherwise put: the difference between the Prophesies and the Finn predictions. Aviendha saw the damnation of the Aiel in her third trip through the columns. One of the mentioned reason was that the Aiel were left without a purpose, without direction and so the way was open for bad choices to be made leading to…

Hi, gang. Forgive me if this has already been addressed elsewhere... The entire concept of the Eye (a pool of pure, tangible, liquid One Power, seems way to cool to not come around again in some form. I recall Moraine saying something to the effect of the Eye having the power to reseal the prison or break it open completely.. Aes Sedai both male and female gave their lives to create that pool of saidin and it's use just seemed rather anti-climactic. So, anyway, do you guys think we could see some sort of use of the liquid OP in the final novel? Perhaps in conjunction with Lanfear's knowledge of the Bore... For that matter, what other things specifically from TEOTW would y…

Maybe I am just dense, but I can't see anything bringing these two together outside of Mat's Tavern nature forcing this marriage on both of them. Mat doesn't much care for nobles or royalty, and Tuon isn't just royalty, she is scary to boot. She breaks damane for fun, and she could kill you as soon as look at you. Mat is a free spirited hero who avoids the trappings of nobility like the plague. He may have feelings for Tuon (no idea where those came from) but she doesn't even love him. What exactly do the two have that makes them compatible for marriage?

After watching too much bad fan art (no offence) i started to think actual persons who look like WoT charaacters. So the idea is post people who look like your idea of those characters. If there was a one already close this and put a link to previous one. First of all since i hate pretty boys my idea of Galad is Elaida to me is and always will be she

Hey Guys and Gals, I dont know about you, but I am having some seriously mixed emotions about AMoL. On one hand, I cant wait to see our three Ta'veren friends we have all grown to love, dukeing out with the DO. There are so many plotlines that will hopefully come to a finality, that i dont even know where to start...Matt/tuon, Rand/Moridin, Perrin/Slayer... On the other hand, I know that this is it. No more speculating, no more cryptic character developments. I sometimes think that i dont want the last book to come out for a few years from now, because i dont want it to end. Just wanted to hear your thoughts...Bummed out or excited abo…

In tFoH, Rand has a LT thought, saying something along the lines of "We make our own limits, and make them bigger than we should." Perhaps this statement is a little bit more literal than most people would expect? Think of Maradon.

What would happen if an Aes Sedai drew upon too much OP and killed herself while the Warder was still alive. What would happen to the Warder as he can't seek vengeance on anyone in particular.

Here is a loony theory for you. What if Moridin is actually Taim's father? Surely Moridin must have thought of 'spreading his seed' and using the 'fruit of his loin' to create a veritable army of channeling children. Taim seems pretty skilled at what he does. Maybe that is because he received special training from his 'father.' Here are a few of the clues: 1. Taim has many of the same mannerisms of Moridin and uses some of the same red and black coloring schemes (of course Be'lal also used this scheme) 2. Taim uses many phrases that would not be expected of him like 'so-called Aiel.' 3. Taim has an intense interest and knowledge of angreal which wou…

hey guys just recently started my 1st re-read of the series and something caught my eye in the prologue of The Great Hunt. When Bors is scanning the crowd at the palace, he sees a tinker with a black veil on just like everyone else. What on earth would a tinker be doing at a place like this? I was just wondering if the reason that the tinkers took to Perrin so openly and quickly, was because of the tinker seeing Perrin's image at that meeting in Shaoul Guhl. Perhaps the tinker thought that by assisting the D.O. that they would somehow be presented with "the Song" they seek? And for that matter, who was the black-vieled Tinker? Thoughts?

who do you think is most likely to turn from the dark side to the light? Moridin, Cyndane (Lanfear), Graendal, or none? State why you think so since there is some evidence (for some more than others) for at least one of the above people.

I don't know if this was a topic for an earlier post or not. I did a quick search and didn't find anything recent. I keep waiting for Loial to show up at the head of a small army of chanting Ogier, spending equal amounts of time swinging long-handled axes and singing songs of growing to aid Rand's re-closure of the Bore. Any ideas about whether Loial and his non-Seanchan brethren will have a major impact in the Last Battle? Or is he to be relegated to the role of bystander and scribe--simply a historian for the benefit of members of a later age who want to know something about this odd Al'Thor fellow? I had hoped to see something of a Moiraine-in-the-Two-Riv…

Anyone motice in the last book that Tam seems to be in two places at once? He's helping Perrin teach people the sword...but Rand sent him to the two rivers to help organize. Is he one of the forsaken in disguise? Also I think Mazrim Taim is Demandred. Any thoughts?

I am reading Chapter 20 in tGS. Mat's POV, thinking about Talmanes "...there seemed to be a twinkle in the nobleman's eyes, as if he were laughing at the world..." Mat goes on to observe how dressed up Talmanes is and that he had great taste in wine. Next, Mat thinks about the gold rimmed pipe Talmanes is using and wonders where he got it as Mat did not remember him having it before. This smells funny to me, but I can't figure out what exactly is going on...thoughts??

I don't know what twists and turns this last installment will throw at us so I want to make clear that I'm not speculating on the plot of book but solely and strictly on an interpretation of the following Foretelling. I've looked quite a bit and I don't think literally anyone has made this connection. I just wanted to bring to all of our collective attentions this particular foretelling by Nicola: "The lion sword, the dedicated spear, she who sees beyond. Three on the boat, and he who is dead yet lives. The great battle done, but the world not done with battle." Bear with me because I'll start with some explaining first. Now I don't presume to know everything that…

So I am reading the first Malazan book currently and it struck me that the way magic is portrayed in WoT is really the best way I have seen in any fantasy series. I dont really like that males and females deal with different sides but that is a little nit picky. What do you guys think? Have you read a series with a better way of dealing with magic?

I'm curious about something. How do various translations of the series handle Far Madding? Is the "far" translated? Does it actually mean "far" as in "far away", or does it have a more wot-ish meaning? I've always seen it as something connected to the Old Tongue, but apparently at least the Swedish translation thinks otherwise.

Just some idle speculation. The dragon is One with the Land. The land has a bore that can be seen as Shayol Ghul. A parallel that is too coincidental to overlook. Since Rand was stabbed in the End of TGH, and then later Fain passed his dagger over that same wound, the wound remained but has changed with the new corruption, not consuming each other but combining somehow. So my odd idle speculation theory is that at some point during the last battle, the Dark One or his essence will somehow be combined with Fain or his essence, creating a 'new' amalgamated evil. Secondly, before Rand can seal the Dark One away (in whatever from that is), the wound in Rand's s…
