“These words mean nothing to me.” “What are you talking about?” My friends almost always respond in such a manner when I bring up WoT. Few know of it; even fewer have read any of the books. It’s hard to discuss my predictions and opinions. When I try, few even attempt to decipher my statements. They may ask me to define an unfamiliar word or phrase in the Old Tongue, but then the conversation crashes into a brick wall and meets an abrupt end. Commoners’ Daes Dae’mar Everyday conversation requires that I repress my WoT fandom, for the most part. If I want to engage in conversation with friends, I can’t bring up WoT theories. That cripples the conversation from the …

  2. All Moments Must Be Taken From Only Books 1 - 12 For Obvious Spoiler-Courtesy! :-) Best Romantic Moment: 1 - Nynaeve and Lan's ''moment'' with the ring. 2 - Mat and Tuon's Wedding. 3 - Bryne and Suian. Fishspeak: Three nice choices but my personal fave was the moment in TSR between The Gray Fox and Moiraine. TOTAL undercurrents of romance there. Best ''One-On-One'' Confontation: 1 Lan/Toram Raitin 2 Mat/Gawyn+Galad 3 Nynaeve/Moggy 4 Valda/Damodred 5 Couladin/Cauthon My ''Mat/FanBoyness'' wants to say 2 but 3 is ONLY CHOICE. Nyn BEST WOT Female EVAR! Most Heroic Moment: 1 Rand refusing (''When the sun turns green, baby'') to let …

Once a Memory of Light is released, and you've read it, what will you do? Will you keep coming to Dragonmount? I assume most of us will for at least a while, to discuss what happened, and discuss things that were never resolved. However, what will you do after that? After a few months, after a few years? Do you have other forums you'll go to? Other series you'll get into? Song of Ice and Fire - I'm guessing George RR Martin won't be done for another decade or two. Lots to talk about in those forums, I'll be there whenever a Dance with Dragons comes out. Way of Kings - Sanderson is just getting started, and is planning like 10 books. That will probably stre…

Is it just me or is there way to much going on for it to be wrapped up in one last book? Logain's absence, Lan's battle, the Black Tower, the Seanchan, Caemlyn, the rest of the Forsakens schemes, and why is Shara even mentioned at all?

From my teenage years (some long while ago) I remember a discussion about infinite size increase and decrease of worlds. The example was that our Milky Way could be imagined as a small energy particle within an atom. That atom could be part of a water molecule made up of countless other atoms all containing Milky Ways of their own. Countless numbers of these water molecules could be joined to form a droplet. Enough of those droplets could form an ocean on a world similar to ours only immensely larger. That world could be in a solar system in it's own Milky Way which was but an energy particle within it's atom. This expansion could go on forever. Likewise, a drop of…

I imagine a lot would agree here since this is a "WoT" fanboard. But I think some people who haven't bothered to read the "WoT" books unfairly call it a rip-off of "LoTR"...and it's so much better than that trilogy.

  7. Taim's 'Escape', Joiya's 'Lies' and the Borderland 'Aes Sedai' Ok, so apologies, this is a long one. Bear with me though, I think it's good. Taim's 'Escape' In The Shadow Rising Taim is mysteriously freed from his Aes Sedai captors in the village of Danhuir, just east of the Black Hills. Nothing is ever uttered about it other than that it was done in stealth during the night and that two Aes Sedai died in the attempt [tSR; 17, Deceptions]. Rand tells Taim that he heard that Taim was broken out by some of his followers [LoC; 11, Lessons and Teachers], but Taim avoids commenting on it. The scarcity of information is strange in itself. In three …

So chesmal of the black ajah tricked the red ajah into murdering the amyrlin seat - the terrible unpleasantness of 20 years ago that one red sister mentions, and things sworn to the flame etc. We know that this wasn;t sanctioned by the black ajah leadership because alviarin has a tough time convincing Ishamael that she did not order this murder and that the black ajah was not officially involved - they only wanted tamra ospenya killed because she was looking for the newborn dragon. I can guess that chesmal was being rogue. But why would the red ajah want an amyrlin dead?!

I was listening to ToM and had the thought what if the reason Elayne cannot get Ter'angreal to work the exact correct way is because she is not linked with a man. I feel that most things made in the AoL would be done with both, and until she realizes this she will just get the kinda close copies she has been makin. just a thought

Ok, I have no idea is this has been made into a tread before but I have noticed in a few posts that people have wondered what the characters who traveled to the Land of the Finn's asked. As we so far only know what Mat asked for it seems to be another one of those "Will we ever know?" things. This whole tread is just for a bit of fun, to showcase peoples thoughs on what other questions might have been. for example: Rand. Question 1: Am I really the Dragon Reborn? Answer: Yes Question 2: Are you sure? Answer: Yes Question 3: Your not just pulling my leg are you? Answer: No Now, let the questions roll! A.

I realize there are like a billion threads on Demandred, but no one seems to care much, so I figured I'd start another. I just finished a FAQ article on Demandred, so I figured I would throw it out there. Let me know if there are other theories you think worth representing on the page, or if you have any other helpful criticism. Just be prepared for the fact that I might dismiss your opinion if it is not sufficiently supported by evidence and/or logic. There was a Demandred thread on page 2 that I just scoured to fill out the loony theories - I don't pay much attention to them usually - but I only have four. Others have been suggested but they are so out there that addin…

so what are the theories on Verin's red letter to Alanna? how did she even get it to Alanna? At first I thought that Verin may have left it with Alanna before leaving Tear with instructions similar to those she gave Mat. but that doesn't seem likely as she would not know exactly when to let Alanna open it. that would mean that Verin must have Traveled back to Tear after leaving Mat. But how did she get it to Alanna unseen? and how did Alanna leave unseen? Did she (or Verin) learn the invisibility weave from somebody? from Nynaeve? it's mentioned in LoC that apparently no Aes Sedai other than Moiraine knew that weave. I really can't see what else she could have used. bu…

  14. Why didn't Rand balefire Semirhage in the attack? He could probably have gotten his hand back, so why not? It's pretty clear at this point that he has no qualms about doing what is necessary forthe greater good. This has annoyed me for a while, it doesn't seem like he was knocked out long enough for him to be unable to do it and he knew of the time altering effect of balefire. Thoughts?

Who's the strongest individual(metaphorical)according to you (and why)? maybe it's best to name your top 3, since I myself found it difficult to pick just one. Mind you, I'm not talking about being the best leader, and not about who's has the fierced reputation, or the one that invokes the most awe or terror on their suroundings either. Just plain and simple: the strongest will. The question is simple. It was clinging in the back of my head for quitte some time, now it's finally out there. throughout the series several woman are repeatedly described as Unbenable, strong, with a gaze that made you weak in the knees, etc. But who's the strongest? In their own seperate '…

I have a strong feeling that Egwene has been compelled by Aran'gar. I agree with FSM on this. I mean, her whole insistance on her being the Amyrlin Seat in tGS was a perfect example of compulsion. She would not back down, even if it cost her her life, which it nearly did. Considering it was Aran'gar and Mesaana's job to keep the two factions fighting, and taking into account Aran'gars little "massages" it stands to reason that s/he would not just give her little headaches. I am not saying that Egwene is a pawn of the shadow now, like Graendals pets, but Aran'gar just placed a mild dose of compulsion on her mind, one that would forcce her to keep fighting against…

In The Great Hunt we see a Dark Prophecy written on the prison wall: My first, overarching question, is whether we should give this prophecy the same respect that we give the Light-side prophecies. Is this like the end of Bill and Ted's Bogus journey, where only the winners get to go back in time and plant the props? My instinct is that that is not the case; that the Dark Prophecies should be given as much respect as any other prophecy. Now, I also have a few questions about a few of those lines. I'll break it up stanza by stanza: I think we can be fairly confident that the Daughter of the Night is Lanfear, and the ancient war is the battle betwee…

  20. Aviendha's vision of a post-Last Battle world dominated by the Seanchan with the Aiel exterminated was, in my opinion, one of the most disturbing moments of the whole series. It was a world where the DO had been defeated, but where the Seanchan had eventually come to dominate the world. A Seanchan world empire could have lasted a very long time, as Traveling makes instant communication and transportation of armies easy, and it thus becomes straightforward to crush rebellions before they can gather steam. In the vision, the Aiel make mistakes themselves that lead to the Seanchan becoming dominant, so it's not a complete Seanchan takeover - the Aiel were somewhat respons…

It seems that a lot of people on these forums really hate Egwene. She may be somewhat arrogant now, but I think she has to be a forceful personality to get the fractious Aes Sedai to do anything constructive. Even though she may grate on some people at the moment, I don't think she's anywhere near as bad as Tuon. Here are some good reasons to hate Tuon. Tuon participates in the breaking of damane. This is not nice at all. She gave Suroth to the Deathwatch Guard to "serve them as they wish". In my opinion, this means that the DW Guard raped Suroth. Even though Suroth was a traitor, and deserved some nasty punishments, this isn't nice at all. I think she kille…

Yes there's a Perrin thread, but seriously, this hammer deserves it's own, it's that awesome. Fine, similar mystical weapons have been created before, but it's the first one we've seen in this series, so let's get at it! I think we're making a mistake in assuming it's just a power-wrought weapon. I cannot recall Rand or Lan's swords, or Mat's asheranderi burning shadowspawn. Yes, you get lightning when striking thakandar steel, but this hammer burns the shadowspawn. I think we're looking at a ter'angreal weapon of some sort. And that also means that Neald discovered a (man's) way of creating a new, uncopied ter'angreal. What do we all think? I can't imagine t…

In Towers of Midnight balescreams are explained to us: We've seen that before in knife of dreams. At the time I thought maybe that ripple was the Dark One Breaking what was left of the seals, aren't there three left? I thought maybe the Gathering Storm would start off with the Last Battle beginning. However, we now know that's not the case. In Knife of Dreams Faile and Perrin both experienced a balescream, or more likely 3 continuous balescreams: Later in a Perrin Chapter, (probably the same day that Faile felt it): My question is, Why did Perrin and Faile experience 3 balescreams? What happened, and can we figure out from which directi…

  25. Has the one power muting affects of forkroot tea ever been fully explained? When it was first introduced, used to drug Elaine and Nynaeve, I got the impression that the inability to Channel was much the product of the tea's rendering the drinker unconscious and so muddle headed that she was unable to grasp onto the Source and channel, that the tea itself did not necessarily block channeling but the effects of the tea made channeling impossible. Now, a couple of years later, the Forkroot industry has apparently boomed, and it's being used as some kind of biochemical inhibitor to channeling. In lesser doses it can apparently leave it's victim quit conscious and aware …

  27. I don't have an exact quote but I have the impression of there being about six male dreadlords in the shadow's army. They destroyed the wall so that troops could enter Maradon. Are these dreadlords asha'man sent by Taim to support Moridin or Demandred's armies? I can't recall there being much mention of what sort of 'missions' the asha'man are sent on - how else would Taim explain away their absence from the BT? Logain has taken about half the asha'man out of the BT (by my estimation; although there might be many more than that in the BT now that Taim has been recruiting as many as he can since Logain left). Could some of Logain's men be supporting the shadows' a…

Nah not really her fault the WT have played a major part for 3,000 years, but when Gawyn said to her something like 'your the most powerful woman in the world' or 'you carry the weight of the world on your shoulders' I thought, man you guys have tabs on yourselves. But I was wondering where you would fit the AS in the worlds power? Admittedly the agreement between the AS. WO's and Sea Folk will increase there spehere of influence, but are they the big power they once were. So here are the list of heavyweights: Clearly No 1 Rand - Caracarn (sp?) Based on my perusal of these message boards, it seems as if most people think that the future Aviendha sees in Rhuidean is a bad one that needs to be prevented. I'm not sure it is. Although it is clear that the Aiel drift into insignificance, what about the rest of the future. Based on the glimpses we see of the furthest future, it appears that technology has advanced significantly, including guns, cars and electric lights. Aviendha, presumably, sees the future through the lens of her descendants, but if the world at large is positive, then what's wrong with her people dying out. I can understand why Aviendha would want to prevent this, but not why we should be on he…
