Ok, so I was skimming through FanFiction.Net when I came across this funny, but IMO terrible parody of our beloved WoT, http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3181863/1/The_WoT_Musical. While reading it something caught my eye, at the bottom of the second page it has Trollocs approching singing their version of "A Few Of My Favourte Things", and admittedly I almost wet myself when I read it, but unfortuneately it only lasted a few lines. I have been wondering what it would sound like in it's entirity but as I'm in no way musicly gifted, I thought it might be a bit of fun to see what others came up with. Here's whats already written: "Shackles and Handcuffs and things that r…

  3. Question number one is from LOC. How did Rand Travel from Illian to Shadar Logoth? He didn't know the area. Does reading the residues of weaves allow channelers to get around this loophole? Question two is from ToM. How did the gholam survive going through the skimming gateway? I thought Shadowspawn would die instantly by going through a gateway.

According to Orson Scott Card, you should begin the story that you finish, or alternatively, you should finish the story that you begin. A story is most typically a narrative concerning a tension in the lives of the characters, relating how that tension is resolved. What Card’s advice amounts to therefore is that when you write a story, you should begin by introducing a certain tension, and you should finish by resolving that tension. For example, if you are writing a mystery, the story will likely begin by introducing a murder, and the tension is usually whether the detective (or “detective”) will solve the crime and bring the killer to justice. The story ends when the d…

In EoTW Shadar Logoth is shown being west of a River. I don't have my book with me at the moment, but I think its the Eldar. Anyway, the name doesn't matter. What does is that its supposed to be west of it. Yet, in the BWB the nation of Aridhol doesn't reach west of that main river. Its all north and east of it. So how is the capitol of that country west of it?

During my re-read (I'm currently re-reading aCoS) the "Watcher" (most likely Moridin) appears. He's spying on Sammael and Graendal as they trick Sevaanna and the Shaido Wise Ones. Anyway, the watcher thinks to himself that maybe he should go back to the clearing where the 7 Wise Ones are and kill them all, then he thinks to himself "he doubted they knew how to form a true circle." So, my question is: What is a "true circle?" Is it just a normal circle, or is it something related to the True Power? I got the impression that Moridin was actually momentarily concerned that maybe they could overpower him, even while using the TP. I admit, I don't have my books wi…

The Fal Dara Lockdown On the twitter Wheel of Time Re-read (#wotrr), the question has come up about who ordered the lockdown of Fal Dara in The Great Hunt. A lot of people seem to assume its Ingtar, so I figured I'd detail the reasons why I think it's Moiraine. The Lockdown The Lockdown is first mentioned just after the Welcome. Tema's question is a good one--who else in Fal Dara could issue such a command? Ragan repeats it. The fact that the question was repeated seems a clear attempt to underline that it was not Agelmar, and indeed, Ingtar states as much... So, if not Agelmar, then who? The Shienaran hierarchy is solid, and dif…

  10. Just idly during my reread through, I stumbled across Asmo staring at Mat when he broke into the old tounge. Then I realized, this guy, and all his buddies, have been asleep for 3000+ years. He's been awake, oh, a couple months. His two buddies popped right out in tEotW and knew the current language. How did they learn the current language?

  11. So I'm reading LoC and I love Morgase but I hate whitecloaks. I know they are gunna end up playing a huge part later in the series. But I'll read like 4 chapters then stop reading after i finish a whitecloak chapter around Pedron Naill. They are so dull. I generally just don't like whitecloaks but I despise the dullness Pedron Naill brings to the series(so far at least...) Galad is about the only thing I can read about the whitecloaks without wishing the chapter would end ( believe you and me that is not something a WoT reader usually wants) Does anyone else find the Whitecloaks to be their least favorite faction in WoT? I've immersed myself back into WoT after my gf…

this isn't that serious of a topic but I just wanted to see what some people thought. My question was if there was a deeper reason that Lanfear's soul was put into a body like Cyndanes after her "death." In my opinion, it was a message of a sort. Not only is Cyndane shorter and not quite as pretty as Lanfear was, but do you think she was put into this shorter body as a message that she isn't as "tough" or big stuff as she thought she was? I almost take it like the Dark One put her in this body as more than just some body to put her soul in. And of course, she was immediately put in a mind trap by Moridin as further punishment. Sorry I know this is kind of a stupid questio…

I'm about a quarter way through LoC but there are some things I have been pondering since FoH. So I pieced together that Aviendha is the 3rd women in Min's viewing after there spontaneous night in the middle of the Seachan arctic. So I'm going out on limb and I'm pretty sure he going to get hitched to Aviendha because he already talked about marrying here (no spoilers please!) but out of the 3 women If i were rand I'd pick Min. She not afraid to love Rand (anymore..) like Aviendha and she isn't so needy that she asks other women to hawk over him like a guard dog like Elayne. Don't get me wrong they are both awesome characters but I still like Min. I'd pick some…

So, Terez, Brandon and I have been discussing sexuality in the Wheel of Time on Twitter, and Brandon informs us that there is a gay male character in Towers of Midnight, but he's leaving it up to us to figure out who. From the context of the discussion it's clear this is a new character as of TofM. Here are the tweets. (the struck through part I was wrong about, but left to explain the next two posts). Thoughts?

Just a quick warning here there will be spoiler here that comes at the end of Tower's of Midnight...just to let you know. So I have all the books on audio and while waiting for a new book to come out I relisten to the books currently I'm on The Shadow Rising. The Trollocs have just finished their first attack on the town, and Perrin worries that there could be Tens of Thousands of trollocs out there. To witch Verin says is unlikely basicly stating that moving that many trollocs through the ways would draw the Black Wind like fly's to honey. After that my brain suddenly flashed forward to the last book when at the end Olver (not sure on the spellings sorry) accidentl…

  17. A thought that just appeared to me: In Towers of Midnight, we see Moridin let Graendal see a book with the Dark Prophecies when he give her the mission to kill Perrin. We also know from one of the Forsaken get-togethers that they have influences of the the Seanchan. We know one of the Forsaken was impersonating the daughter on the nine moons at least. Could it be that this prophexy that the dragon must kneel to the Crystal Throne is part of the Dark Prophecies? How do someone know what is a Light and a Dark Prophecy? Could it be that the Seanchan have the Dark Prophecies? Or, just a part of it at least?

While I was reading the BWB, specifically the history section, it really struck me how much Hawkwing resembled a mix of all three of the main ta'veren right now. He was a gambler and a great general like Mat, a man of the people who resisted too much honor (Building statues to him), and a strong sense of right and wrong, willing to raise or punish regardless of rank, like Rand. He also has many of the classic traits of a hero. He's an orphan, royal descent, comes from a small nation (Although admittedly not from a farm like many current characters). So it seems to me that the greatest Hero of the Horn isn't actually Rand, but Hawkwing. I personally think that their h…

To my knowledge Robert Jordan never used the word Tempest. Brandon Sanderson used it A LOT in TGS. So let's make some predictions. How many times will we see that word, (or a variation on that word) in ToM??? There is no prize for who gets it right, just bragging rights. I think we've already seen the word once in the Prologue, or spoiler chapters. Here's my guess: 16 times that word will be used. What's your guess.

When Egwene confronts Sheriam as a member of the BA, she tricks her into a lie. She does this by asking Sheriam a lot of questions that she would answer "no" with or without the Oath, and then one that she would stumble over because "yes" would be the right answer. (IE "Are you Black Ajah? Have you sworn yourself to the Dark One? Are you plotting to bring down the Tower?" and then "Is your hair red?") The error here isn't so much the scene, but who she attributed the trick to. She attributes it to Verin. Verin gave Egwene Sheriam's name, but didn't teach her that little trick. I say that because we know who taught her to do that, albeit unintentionally: Beonin.…

Hi all, long time lurker, first time poster. Have been reading stuff and links I saw here on the forums and was thinking about Lan. Min's viewing about Lan: And in an interview, Robert Jordan said: Does this mean Lan will have a kid and die at Tarwin's Gap with Nynaeve already pregnant? I think the vision means Lan will die and Nynaeve will raise her kid as Lan had been raised. P.S. : First time I post, so don't be too hard on me, could be totally wrong...

  25. A thought occured to me reading about Baelfire on the Encycloaedia. I'm not sure where I read it, if it was The Big White Book or in the series, but it says that both sides stopped using Balefire when they learned that it risked unraveling the Pattern. Now, the thing is, if the Dark One win the Last Battle, Is the general tone not that he will stop all of creation? That he will stop the wheel of time? Maybe I read that wrong, as in that he will unravel all of creation, and what he will do is just to rein in all eternity (how he can do that if the pattern have stopped, but I guess this have been discussed already and I just joined so I will leave that train of though…

  30. In the recent book, Towers of Midnight, we see Aviendha going through the rings in Rhuidean and we see her in what she find out to be her future getting closer and closer to present time. When Rand go through the pillars to get his dragon tattoos, he is a Tinker (Aiel) and see the drilling of the bore into the Dark Ones prison. Now, is what he saw while he was passing through the pillars of Rhuidean the lives of different people or were they all his own previous (or future?) lives? I have always thought that your thread in the Pattern is always your own, so to speak. If you are an Aes Sedai you are always an Aes Sedai. Rand is an Aiel, and in the life he lived wh…
