  1. In The Shadow Rising it was implied that the Dreamers could read the pattern and see what could be by going to places in TAR. But we have yet to see anything like this again where they dreamed scenarios of what could be. Eggy has vague Fortellings but not what was described by the Wise Ones.

Though the events I'm writing about take place prior to ToM, I'm posting here so people can post spoilers if necessary. The hunt for the BA started in aCoS and ended in tGS. That's half the bloody series! From what I can gather the only thing they achieved during their hunt was to inadvertently cause Verin Mathwin's death(the less said about her decision to commit suicide, the better). For such a long running plot to fizzle out so completely, given that they didn't discover anything that Verin hadn't, makes no sense. Especially in light of the fact that Egwene knew of their existense when Verin handed her her life's work. My question is; has Brandon Sanderson sai…

A thought has just occured to me as I was rereading TGH. Rand could get the Seanchan to follow him by getting Mat to blow the Horn and showing Tuon that Hawkwing is on his side. The Seanchan seem to worship Hawkwing and nothing would carry weight with them more than his word. It is just speculative and probably wont happern or there would have been a dream or some prophesy in that direction.

Could an Aes Sedai use the One Power to kill animals? Would it count as a weapon? Would it matter if she needed to animal for food, or was just annoyed at it? Spontaneously, I'd call it a weapon. But on the other hand, we see Aes Sedai do a lot of things that could count as a weapon. Elaida beating Moiraine and Siuan into weeping piles (Moirane anyway) of bruises, for instance. That definitely seems like a weapon, but apparently not by Aes Sedai standards. So what about animals? Have we seen anything like that in the books?

Is the Gholam, shadowsporn? if so how is it that he past through the skimming Gateway when shadowsporn die immediately if they pass through a gateway?

  6. Since Rand is also the King of Illian, did Elayne just give Illian a part of Andor?

From what I remember, the last time we saw Loial was when he was leaving for the Great Stump. I completely forget the details of this or when it happened so a refresher with more details would be much appreciated. [Removed] I'm very interested to see what role Loial and the rest of the Ogier will play in aMoL and the Last Battle. Speculation?

  8. We know from the books that Demandred claims to have an army, although we don't know WHICH army...the only army many have thought it could be is the Asha'man...RJ said Taim is not Demandred (although that doesn't mean Demandred is not in charge of Taim/the black tower...) ANYHOO Brandon Sanderson has said somewhere that the Isle of Madmen will make an appearance in the books, and it would be weird to just introduce a whole different place in the last book with nothing leading up to it in the books before... ....could it be that the talk of Demandred having an army(that is only MENTIONED) that no one has seen could be in a place, that was only MENTIONED in the books up u…

This comes from Brandon's Twitter Feed as regularly posted on his website. Terez27 Tue Jan 11 @BrandonSandrson lol. The male Aelfinn? BrandonSandrson Tue Jan 11 @Terez27 Dang. You're too clever. Okay, then, I promise you there's actually a man—human—who meets your requirements. So my question is, who is this Male individual? Is it Elayas, or Noam? Ishmael? or someone else?

Alivia, who I think will be in Rands circle (which I don't get, why haven't the Aes Sedai and their ashaman, or the ashaman and their AS tested this as yet? makes no sense.) will die. Lan and Nyneave (the other person in rands circle,) wil live, But all of the seconds die. I think that Siuan will die, she is egwenes second no matter who the keepr is, and leane is siuans second. Talmanes will die, Flynn will die, I think Min will die I know, travesty, but I think Min will die, yet rand will Live.

I've been reading WOT for quite a few years but took a hiatus to wait for the books to catch up to me. Now I'd like to re-read them from the start but I'm very confused because in my research I've noticed prequels, prologues and other books with the same storyline. I think I have it right but I'd like to confirm from some WOT extreme fans. Is this the order to read them in...? Wheel Of Time Prequel 01 - (Historical) - The Strike At Shayol Ghul Wheel Of Time Prequel 02 - (Legends) - New Spring Wheel Of Time Prequel 03 - Ravens 01. Dragonmount 02. Prologue - Embers Falling on Dry Grass 03. Prince of the blood 04. Ravens 05. The Shaping of a World 06. Wheel…

Hi this is my first post at this forum. I just started reading ToM. So, who do you think will help Rand wield Callandor in the last battle? Maybe Alivia as she is supposed to be related to the death of Rand/LT? Maybe Nyneave, she is strong too... Moirane and Lanfear would surely be interesting.

  13. Hey! So I was recently thikning about how much my opinion about Nynaeve changed throughout the books and then I realized that she was not the only character that I grew to like a lot more in the later books. For example, I didn't like Moiraine at all during the first books...I also didn't particulary like Matt in the first two books but now he's my favorite character...with Egwene it's the same. Of course, the opposite thing happened as well. Gawyn, for example, seemed really sweet, nice and humble in the first books and now...UGHH!!! So what about you guys? You can also add the moment that changed your opinion about that character. For me, for example, for Nynaeve …

A few recent posts have touched on RJ's indication that not every loose end will be tied up by the end of aMoL. Given how much is still going on, and only one book left, I can well believe it. I thought it would be interesting to pull together peoples' suggestions on what might be those loose ends that aren't critical to the plot and might just be left to us to puzzle over forever. Here's my first suggestion - Merilille and Talaan. I doubt we'll ever see them again - I thought they were heading for the Tower, but they've not turned up yet, and it's hard to see there being time to fit them back into the plot. Any other suggestions?

Not the fact that is is a matriarchy. Just how unrealistic it is. The world of the WoT is female-dominated in spite of being pre-industrial. That is unrealistic itself, since there are very good reasons why men have a dominant social position, in a world where economic productivity depends literally on the strength of ones arms. But that is more than adequately compensated for by the female monopoly on magic. So it makes sense that WoT is female-dominated. But the whole thing that is special about Far Madding is its Guardian, the ter'angreal that prevents channeling. Logically, Far Madding should be the place in WoT-world LEAST likely to be a matriarchy. …

I don't know about many of you, but I've been waiting just about all series to learn SOMETHING about Shara other than what's in the glossary every single book. Also with the Land of Madmen to a lesser extent, but Shara is frickin' huge, bigger than all of Randland but totally out of the plot. Same thing with the Land of Madmen, but separated by sea which makes sense for the lack of appearance. Did RJ or BS give any indication on whether either (or hopefully both) will make an appearance at some point? I think I saw that the Land of Madmen will make an appearance but I'm not sure. And if we don't get something really cool from Shara I'm not going to be happy-same goes …

Hi all. I cant find a thread for this, and havent found it discussed in detail, so here goes. Min sees Carlinya with tattoos of a Raven, indicating the Seanchan Empire in some fashion. We all know what happened to Carlinya, she died, and so Min's foretelling appeared to be wrong. Or was it? It was reported Carlinya died during the Black Ajah's attack while everyone was in the World of Dreams. But, what was NOT stated was HOW she died. People are assuming she died fighting the Black Ajah. My supposition here is that Carlinya's sleeping body was killed by a Seanchan bloodknife, thus making Min's Raven tattoos a correct vision as the Bloodknife warriors are propert…

  18. Was just thinking, provided they win, what do you think the aftermath will be, and where and what will the main characters end up doing? For instance, the obvious (to me!); Egwene will be Amyrlin Seat at Tar Valon. with political power being shared with Logain as leader of the Ashaman. They will dedicate their powers to helping, healing and defending the lands. Elayne will be Queen of Andor. Darlin will remain king of Tear. Berelain will remain First of Mayene, with Galad as husband and leader of the Whitecloaks now based there (with gateways, distances not really an issue anymore). Now for my preferences; Rand is Lord of The Two Rivers. Mat to be steward…

Right dudes and dudettes. When Ituralde watches Rand lay waste to the Trolloc army, we see him show an incredible ammount of power, which is fine. But two things about this scene make me think he used the True Power. First off is how Rand describes the anger that rose again during the incedent, which he thought he was invulnerable to after the VoG incedent. Second, and most important. While almost everyone who witnessed it displayed awe, Rands own words were that "it came too close to an encounter between us" and is clear beyond clear that when Rand talks about "him" without naming it, he is talking about the Dark One. Now I dont think Im making a big leap AT …

I love art, especially WoT art. I was excited when the new ebook covers where released. However, I would love to see more. Yeah, I know I'm greedy, but it's WoT; I just can't get enough. :P What are some of you're favorite Wheel of Time related pictures? Do you have any that fit the image of how you imagine the character. If not, how do you imagine them? I just recently came across this picture of Rand that I hadn't seen before. :) http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_-RKs86vQR1E/S6hxuInEesI/AAAAAAAAAQA/6v1GbJebnts/s1600-h/rand_tgs.JPG

I just got to the part where Aviendha goes through the pillars at Rhuidean and see's the guys with trucks and guns......I can only assume that she was seeing the Aiel in the first age dealing with Westerners.... JR has always said that many of the stories from the first age were based on stories from modern times in our world.....Like for instance the Great Road made of metal that is being built in the west would of course be the cross country rail roads in America....and America is even used as the basis for the Story of Merc and Mosk (I'm not sure if I spelled the names right or not) fighting with spears of fire. So it is safe, in my opinion, that when she was seei…

Towards the end of TGH When Liandrin turns Egwene over to the Seanchan she emphasizes that Egwene and Nynaeve must be collared and taken across the aryth ocean. Then a couple chapters later when Rand is doing his dream thing with Ba'alzamon, B says "They will not save you, those who might save you will be carried far across the Aryth Ocean. If you ever see them again, they will be collared slaves, and they will destroy you for their new masters." This shows that the Shadow has a vested interest in keeping these two girls as far from Rand and Tarmon Gaiden as they can. To me this is a big clue that nynaeve and Egwene will be the two that link with Rand to use Call…

One of the lingering questions that I've wondered about Randland is just how the different nations/nationalities tied together, if at all, with our world. I'm sure this topic had been raised before, but it seems that I'm not tech-saavy enough to locate it on the forums or just lazy. I'm leaning towards the latter. Be that as it may any info into this topic would be profoundly interesting to me.

  25. Started by GrandpaG,

I remember reading the description of Nynaeve's trial for being raised to Accepted. And I remember reading about Egwene's experiences inside the terangreal. I don't remember reading about what Elayne experienced. Didn't it matter? Was her experience boring? Or was it "none of our business" because it might have revealed something about her that we "really wouldn't want to know"? I don't know why but it bothers me that the three of them were raised to Accepted virtually together and that we got to see so much detail about the other two and nothing about Elayne.

This falls under the heading of, "Even in WoT-world, things usually happen for a reason." Elayne's whole avoidance of the testing and subsequent raising strikes me as contrived (not contrived on her part, contrived on Jordan/Sanderson's part). Sure, the excuse of not endangering the babies is logical, but why bother writing it? I think the fact that she hasn't become a full Aes Sedai (by the original, not-just-cause-teh-amyrlin-says-so, standard) is an intentional plot device. I could see her not becoming part of the Tower. Perhaps leading the Kin, post-TG.

  27. Started by Vermillion,

What time period did she live through? Is Birgitte Silverbow always her name like a hero nick name or just her last incarnation? I ask because she seems to be tied in stories to many life times. It's always confused me about her.

In the Great Hunt Verin talks about not being able to use portal stones due to lack of strength in the power. But in ToM and maybe TGS weak channlers or low amount of power is used to operate the portal stones. Is that a plot hole or chalk it up to Verin lying and pushing Rand?

  29. I have a feeling that the story is leading into a type of "Rand is the Creator in human form" type angle..... I mean, when he returned to Arad Domain, it seemed to be that he simply willed the food on the ships to not be spoiled.....Some would say that it was simply him being Ta'veren, but I would go as far as saying that he changed reality.....Instead of him simply changing the odds of how much food was spoiled, he literally willed it so that the food left on the ship was fresh.

I've had a unusually long winter break due to my school having an optional winter semester, and during my break I decided to re-read WoT in it's entirety, or else I might go completely insane. I started the series in 4th grade, and caught up to Winter's Heart in about 7th or 8th, and have eagerly awaited the next books since then. I've tried re-reading all the books several times, but I never managed to get past Lord of Chaos, I would always run out of time or have something to do, and I knew I didn't want to shlug through books 8-10. But the last time I did that I was probably in 10th or 9th grade, and still pretty young without a full grasp on a lot of the subtler p…
