Rereading Shadow Rising atm and last night I came across one of Egwene's dreams, which made me think of the whole breaking seals situation. Don't have the book on me right now, but basically she dreams of Rand building a wall between himself and her, Elayne and some others. While doing this he says something like, "I have to do what must be done. I won't let you stop me now." So do we know if this dream is related to something that has already happened, or could it possibly have something to do with Rand breaking the seals? Maybe the wall means he has to retrain Egwene and her followers somehow so they don't stop him? Sorry if this has been mentioned before...

Found the site Famous Inboxes yesterday and couldn't resist making one for Mat. Edit: Added a link instead since the image won't show up here for some reason... If you want to give it a try, feel free to use mine as base. I just took a screenshot of the Windows Mail interface and added new text in Photoshop.

  3. Not just bargain with them, his fighting the Dark One in exchange for the Dragon's Peace. I think he's planning something a little stronger than that. I read his POV this way: He is not offering, "Sign on to the Dragon's Peace. If you do, I will break the seals and face the Dark One." He is intending on breaking the seals regardless. So what he is saying is, "I'm breaking the seals. Sign the Dragon's peace or I won't face the Dark One." He isn't intending just to threaten to leave them defenseless. He's threatening to increase the threat, then leave them defenseless. Pretty ruthless. Maybe Zen Rand isn't so Zen.

Disclaimer: So let me start by saying that while I came up with this theory myself, I wouldn't be the least surprised if someone else or multiple others already came up with this idea. I did do my best to search through the "Theorylands Interview Database" to see if anyone asked about this as well as searching these forums(ToM & General WoT) to check if there were threads already covering this subject. While I found many skirting this idea, none actually touched on it. Theory: That being said, I think that it will not be the One Power but the True Power, as in that which flows from the Dark One, which will be needed to seal the Bore made in the AoL. Also, if the O…

Can anyone confirm that this part was written by Jordan? I've noticed certain parts of both TGS and ToM that seemed written by Jordan but this one tops it. Verin giving Egwene the Black Ajah info is next on my list. I found those to be the best sequences in both books, so if Sanderson wrote them I'll be impressed, but it REALLY seemed to have Jordan's style behind it?

For those who have been following @BrandonSandrson on Twitter as he does the WoT re-read, you may have noticed that he mentioned something very interesting about the prologue of tEotW. He said: Then later there was some speculation on Twitter by Theoryland members and others, and he eventually confirmed that the easter egg had to do with Lews Therin sensing that nobody was around for miles: So... my theory: This relates to Rand's "newfound" abilities to "lock on" to Darkfriends and/or Trollocs, "see" into people's souls, and, as someone mentioned on Twitter, it also probably explains why Rand and also the Forsaken are able to Travel so closely to peopl…

  8. I'm kinda new to WoT fandom, having only been reading the series for just over 3 years and since then I have brought nearly all my books 2nd hand and have a mismatched set containing the illistraited covers and the "new" great serpent/wheel covers. I know, from reading other posts and looking at different review sites that you can get copies of every book with the illistraited covers but I was just wondering from where? I live in New Zeland and all the bookstores I have been into (which is most of the big chains and quite a few private ones around the top of the SI and lower NI), but all I can seem to find is the symbol covers. Do I have to order online from the US to …

Hello all! First off, I am truly happy to see such a great community of fans for the WoT series (well, Theoryland as well but I'm not sure if I'm to mention them here lest a ban is in order, in which case I've never mentioned who-y-land). I wanted to know if someone could let everyone know when Encyclopaedia WoT (http://www.encyclopaedia-wot.org/) will be updated with regards to all of the books (including ToM) since I've had the impression that some of the members here contribute to that website. If not, I apologize for any lack of hindsight. Cheers!

So here's a thought. It's clearly established in the books mythos that you can't channel at Shayol Ghul. Through various Dark One disciplinary shenannigans. So how on earth is Rand planning to break the seals and weave I;m assuming some sort of solution. And, even if his blood is enough according to some theories he still has to get there, and then deal with Shaidar Haran. I'm guessing some sort of distraction of the DO or Shaidar Haran. The DO is probably prepared for a suprise attack as it happened last time. Anything to contribute on how you think Rand will deal with this?

  12. So, in the Gathering Storm we have it laid plain by Moridin that the DO wants to win not to rule to world, but to destroy it, and the pattern along with it. In earlier books (I cannot recall in which) we learn that bale fire unravels the pattern, and its extensive use threatens all existence. We also know that the DO is outside the pattern, and therefore presumably not threatened by bale fire, or the destruction of the pattern. So, my question is: why didn't (or doesn't) the DO command the Forsaken or the Black Ajah members to start using bale fire in mass amounts? Wouldn't that accomplish his stated (presumed) goal? What do you think? Personally, I think t…

When/if Rand is collared, does the same effects of the Dominion Band effect Moridin too exactly the same way? Or, maybe in a different light, If someone gained control of Rand, would they also have control of Moridin? Does anyone think Rand will get collared again? Or, perhaps another male channeler? Thanks. Here's a cookie.

  14. I have been reading TGS for a few weeks now...and I have noticed some words and gramar that are diferenct than RJ's wriring style.... For example, I don't never remember ever seeing RJ use the word mansion to describe a noble's house....He woule either use palace or manor or manor-house.....Sanderson uses it often....... Then there is the fact that Sanderson often uses more modern sentence structure while RJ would almost always use the grammar and sentence structure that would be used in the middle ages.... Has anyone else noticed these differences?

Does anyone know what the Sharan is doing in Tear during Knife of Dreams? He's trying to convince a merchant that he has worms to make silk, and Rand describes him as looking like one of the Sea Folk, but with an odd musical accent and a strange coat with no lapels or collar. Anyone know what he's doing in Tear? Just kinda hangin' out... Seeing what's up this side of the Waste?

I was disappointed by the frequency of errors in the printed text of this book. I understand that some errors will evade an editor's notice - it's inevitable that mistakes will appear; we humans are imperfect. However there are simply too many in this book. I also noticed that most errors seemed to be editorial errors. For example, words were repeated often in the same or other nearby sentences. Concepts, usually best explained in a single sentence, were put into two disparate sentences with a conjuncted grammatical error that seemed to say 'I, the author, tried to mash two paragrahps together, but didn't patch it up properly afterwards' - in other words, a copy-paste e…

Is there any ideas out there why (and I assume its Verin), has left four letters (that I can remember) to certain people? Mat obviously has one, Rand gets one, Alanna gets one and finally Galad gets one before Morgase's wedding? Any thoughts?

This has probably been posted somewhere before.. What if the Seanchan profecy about the Dragon kneeling to the Crystal throne true? This is how I think it would go down. Fortuona dies by the hands of a Black sister after one of Moridin's lap-dog Chosen removes her A'dam. Mat becomes the first Seanchan Emperor since Arther Hawkwing. Rand kneels to Mat and gives him complete control over all military matters regarding The Last Battle. On a side note. Mat removes all damane a'dam as he did with Jolene when Tuon slapped one on her. Cant remember exactly what he said but it was something like, "I cant leave any women to that fate". We all know Mat keeps his wo…

In ToM, the part where Aviendha is Ladalin, Aiel Wise One, she mentions that she is the the descendant of the Dragon (and Aviendha). Quote: "She was of the lineage of the Dragon, one of the last living. The other three lines had been killed off."-ToM, pg. 726, Chapter: The Court of the Sun It says the other three lines. But we know for sure that Rand already has three consorts, and therefore three lines. However, this was written from a Dragon-born's point of view. Does that mean that there is going to be a fourth line? And whom might that be from? Speculation on the Fourth: It could be Lanfear, especially when taking in the fact that Brandon Sanderson threw in tha…

Anyone else get the feeling that this happens later in the timeline than the things before it in the book? Kind of like the way the last scene of the Bourne Supremacy actually happens toward the end of the Bourne Ultimatum. I suspect that aMoL will start with covering a number of issues at the Fields of Merrilor and elsewhere before Nynaeve 'receives' that sending of love.

I have seen some thoughts on these forums about who should be the two women in the circle with Rand to safely wield Callandor. Quite a few have said that the two women should be Nyneave and Moraine. Nyneave I can understand, she very strong and Rand trusts her, but why would he choose Moraine? There is one glaring reason that I can see why this is not a wise choice, she is so much weaker than she was before. After the Finns sucked all the life out of Lanfear, they decided to go slow with Moraine and by doing so did not kill her but slowly sucked away her ability to channel. The only reason that she is even remotely as strong as she was before is because of the b…

Hi! I am sorry if this topic has been discussed earlier, but the search did not work due to server optimizing and 5000+ postings seemed a bit too many to look through... I have wondered for quite a long time already if Moiraine and Galad are relatives? They both are of House Damodred of Cairhien, one by herself and the other by father. If they are, that makes Moiraine and Rand relatives as well? I may be mistaking but I cannot recall anything concerning that matter from the books. If I am right, I wonder if this has some significance after Moiraines return?

  26. I told a friend today that I was going to pick up my copy of Towers of Midnight. Here's how the conversation went down: Considering that this is somebody that I otherwise really like, I was really surprised to hear her talking like that. I can think of plenty of books that I didn't like, but I wouldn't say that any of them "just totally suck." Beside that, why does anybody think these books suck? What I like about the Wheel of Time (i.e. why I keep reading and wouldn't care if they dragged the series out for the rest of my natural life): The characters: I never thought I would say this, but I really love the characters and I find myself relating…

  27. "The Forsaken," Mat said hoarsely, "are bound in Shayol Ghul-" "Were bound." Aginor smiled; his ytellowed teeth had the look of fangs. "Some of us are bound no longer. The seals weaken, Aes Sedai. Like Ishamael, we walk the world again, and soon the rest of us will come. I was too close to this world in my captivity, I and Balthamel, too close to the grinding of the Wheel, but soon the Great Lord of the Dark will be free, and give is new flesh, and the world will be ours once more. So this passage seems to suggest that Ishamael either hasnt been in captivity at all during the past 2000 years or that he was bound as close to the world and the grinding of the whee…

  28. We know that the access key ter'angreal were contructed so that a channeler could tap the choeden kal sa'angreal safely, without being burned out. Callandor is a sa'angreal that lacks a buffer, like the choedan kal sa'angreal, and it is mentioned that a circle of male and female channelers can be used to channel it safely. It is clear, then, that a circle led by a woman could tap the male Choedan Kal safely. The size of circle required is unknown, though it is possibly larger than that required to access callandor. Therefore, we can surmise that the Chodean Kal could've been used effectively in the last battle without access keys.

Okay, so in TGH Rand touched the dagger. He seems to lack the connection to it that Mat displayed, but still he touched it. In later books we've seen Fain use that dagger in some pretty nasty ways. What does it mean that Rand touched it, if only briefly? Are some of his "trust issues" due in part to that contact? (Not saying there weren't other very obvious reasons, of course). Feel free to discuss any "dagger issues" Mat may still have as well, though he seemed to be well healed of it, is he fully healed?

What are your thoughts on the focus on AMoL? Who do you think will be the main focus? Just Rand? All three Ta'veren? The entire cast of the original EotW party, as in Rand Mat Perrin Egwene Nynaeve Lan Moiraine and Thom? Or some other combo? Personally I would love to see it be a Rand book. My favorite books so far are Lord of Chaos and The Gathering Storm because of the focus on Rands PoV. Lord of Chaos has always been my favorite book because of Rand, and TGS was awesome because we got a perfect balance of Dark Rands PoV and seeing him through others eyes. What I would really like is AMoL to be focused on Rand with the same balance of PoV and onlookers as TGS, w…
