What kind of immunities does the One Power confer on channelers? In chapter 41 of the The Eye of the World, there's this reference: But that's the only reference to it in the books, as far as I can remember. Is it mentioned elsewhere? I know it says somewhere that Aes Sedai died during the breaking because they caught diseases and didn't find anyone to Heal them, so they can't be completely immune. Where is the limit? Are the immune to really contagious diseases? Would they be able to get something like HIV/AIDS in modern society? Can they get cancer? Or can they only get sick from infections from untreated wounds? Is there any information on the subjec…

I was perusing the net last night and reading about the Norse god, Odin. It's really interesting the connection between Odin and Mat. I started reading about Ragnarok and how it relates to Tarmon Gai'don. Suddenly, I realized that the Dark One WILL NEVER win. We know very little about the DO's nature, but we know this, he's not omnipotent. The creator is. The creator imprisoned the DO, which means the DO's prison is stronger than the DO. The fact that the creator can create a prison to hold the DO, then go about his business doing his thing, tells me that this fight is fixed. Sure, the DO causes all kinds of grief throughout the ages, but he'll never really win. Break…

RJ seems to like to use the wise-old, tough as roots woman as character in almost every aspect of his books, and yet these women dont seem to ever interact. my question is: What would happen if they did? Also, I've included some who may not be old per sai, but have a similar kind of will. So, what happens if you put (below) into a room and lock the door? Most of us here probibly started the series by reading Eye of the World. I know I did. However, there are multiple entry points into this series now. There are TWO versions of the prequal New Spring one could read (the original anthology or the book). There's also From The Two Rivers: The Eye of the World, Book 1 which has a completely different Prologue. Heck, you could skip EotW and start with The Great Hunt and not be too lost. So, how did you get your start in this series (if not by EotW), and what would you recomend new readers start with? New Spring? Thanks. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------…

What cool/neat/useful talents or weaves have we only seen once? Why aren't they being used more? Case in point -- the Strike of Death Rand used in the Stone of Tear. Storm and lightning bolts hunting the corridors for Trollocs and Fades. A most useful tool and i see no reason it can't be used outdoors as well. So why has Rand only used it once?

I am a little more that half done with the book. I am savouring it. Wanted to discuss something but Dragonmount was down so I googled "ToM non-spoilers". I go to readandfindout.com. The review was pretty much spoiler free BUT the topic of one of the comments gave something BIG away. I am SO angry!!!! Anyway, wanted to post this as a warning to others...should never have logged on today...

Just hit me the other day - the construction begun by Elaida, for her "palace", will eventually house the Black Tower - right next to the White Tower, but still separate, for men, not women. What do you think?

So, is there a release date set yet? It's so hard to believe that after all these years of reading and waiting that the story is about to come to an end. Sad times ahead. Is there any speculation if Sanderson might continue to write in the Wheel Of Time World? Maybe some spin-off stories or future/past ages?

I want to preface this with the statement that I don't endorse the type of slavery most people immediately imagine (back breaking labor). And I definitely think it is wrong to allow anyone to be "born" into slavery. At the same time, I don't think the Seanchan should be hated for their practices of da'covale or damane. ------------ On Da'covale: I don't really see a societal problem with da'covale (maybe I have a problem with automatically making their offspring also da'covale). Some people just don't deserve freedom, and if their super egos allow them to be made into productive members of society, then that is a good thing. The bigger question is, h…

I had to post this somewhere - this is the highest viewed Wheel Of Time "trailer" on Youtube dubbed to "Yesterday" by the Beatles. http://tubedubber.com/#KV8sQrJa59I:XNnaxGFO18o:0:100:0:0:true It's eerie how the song syncs with the video on the 2nd loop.

This is something j have been wondering about for a while--Could a captured Aes Sedai, as a damane, lie as their new damane persona? I was first thinking of this back when Joline and Edesina and Teslyn were discussing Sheraine/Mylen. Now I understand that Mylen--and Pura for that matter--cannot apply to this question, because they think of themselves only as their new identity. However, can an AS who refuses to submit as a damane lie by using her damane name? For example, say Romanda (Yellow Sitter) were to get caught as a damane, and let's say this is after she knows how to cure stilling. Seanchan could possibly want that info in case some of their damane ha…

Hey, everyone. I was wondering if there was a site that has WOT Chapters w/ who is written in each Chapter? I've noticed a couple sites that hyperlink each chapter so you have to click on each one. I have the audiobook so am looking for a quick reference so I can skip ahead (IE: listen to all of Bashere's POVs and some of Rand's when together etc). Thanks!

I apologize if this is the wrong place for this, I wasn't quite sure where to put it as this is a rather unusual question... Anyways I picked ToM up from Chapters Indigo a few days ago and have been gleefully reading it but there is one problem. The hardcover jacket has a nice big 30% off bestseller sticker on it. As I've been reading I decided I absolutely couldn't keep this on the cover or it will drive me insane. Anyone have any suggestions as to how to take it off? :)

There are so many great reviews of this book, but for some reason, I'm having a difficult time getting into it. I'm at page 175. The last book was amazing, but up to this point, I keep getting snagged up on weird wording and this takes me out of the story. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm pretty certain this is an editing issue and I hope TOR puts a little more effort in editing the next book.

In my reread of aCoS I came to the part where Cadsuane enters the room with Rand while a small group of AS are present. Cadsuane is introduced by Berelain and as the shock recedes from the AS, cadsuane gives a quick run down of her life since leaving the tower. She then asks if any sisters present were involved in something vile twenty years ago. What is she talking about? Something during the Aiel War? She doesn't give any other clues or anything, she just dismisses it. What up with that?

Please keep in mind that I'm only a third of the way through Towers of Midnight, so if this issue is addressed there, I am unaware of it. That being said, I know there has already been a great deal of discussion regarding the mechanics of balefire; I don't believe that this particularly issue has been raised. The issue in question is how completely balefire burns a thread out of the Pattern. Can a thread that has been burned out the Pattern eventually be woven back in? We have no evidence of anyone being spun back into the Pattern after being balefired, so it is difficult to say for sure, but if it is not possible, killing with balefire is gradually decreasing the tot…

you know it just occurred to me the tinkers are searching for "the song" [Removed] doesn't/shouldn't [Rand] Know the Song ? aside was there not a ter'angreal that played music in that junk that elayne/avi and nynaeve found? i know there was an "e-reader" ..thought they mentioned one doing music as well

  20. After the threads around the place that Brandon loves the word, anyone else who can't help going 'Ah, another one' when they encounter it in the story? There aren't as many (half way through) I think as in TGS and I never noticed it in my first read of that. Now though it's like being told not to think about it, I can't help it.

OK, be nice if I am wrong with this, but my memory is shockingly bad. IIRC Mat is told when he goes through to the Aelfinn he has to give half the light to save the world. Now he's sort of cosy with Tuon putting it mildly. The Seanchan have the male a'dam thanks to Bayle blowing the chance of dumping it, the numpty. Now one of the Seanchan's prophecies is that the Dragon Reborn has to kneel to crystal throne. Could or would Mat lure Rand so that he has the a'dam placed on thereby kicking in another prophecy?

"The Wheel of Time turns, and ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the age that gave it birth comes again." Okay... so, if Rand is LTT reborn, LTT and the Forsaken and all are from a past age, the age of legends, and Rand is in a new age that has "come again", then how the hell do they still know the legends of LTT, the Forsaken, and all the others from the Age of Legends? Those legends haven't even faded to myth yet, not to mention been "long forgotten," so it can't really be a new age born from the turning of the wheel, can it?

I'm sad. Only one book left. This epic tale has been a part of my life ever since my pre-teen days. I feel like I know all these characters personally. While I'm excited that the end is in sight, I'm saddened by the loss of no new developments. I understand that these are fictional characters, and that it's a fictional world. I think the saddest part is that people won't be able to be as emotionally invested in the story anymore. Those of us who started reading back in the 90's have had to wait, do rereads, and go over and over tantalizing hints of what may happen. That era is basically at an end now. One year and the final book arrives. Anyone else feel this way, or …

It would be nice if it grabbed the top stop right out of the gate in January.

I am reading the part in TGS when Rand uses Balefire to destroy Graendal. I noticed somethng is different in this book than the others..... In past books, only the user of balefire and anyone who was involved with the person who was burned out of the pattern remembered anything that happened.....for example, Mat remembered being attacked by a Darkhound in Rhuidean. But After Rand destroys the fortress where Graundal is living, Min and Nynaeve both remember the Balefire and the fortress and Nynaeve remembers that she had just tested the man Rand sent to talk to Graendal for compulsion.....but by the nature of Balefire, there should not have been any compulsion to …

Hello, this is my first time posting. I've been a lurker for a while now... I recently read some of the later chapters in TOM and this is seriously the first time a book has ever shocked me. I had to put it down for a while to absorb the content and so here I am posting. I need to some time to think, so far this book has thrown off so many predictions that its just left me stunned! Thank you RJ/BS, you have made my day. That is all.

So from book 9/10, the black coats have started bonding Aes Sedai. Does this mean that they (the Aes Sedai) will suffer from the 'Warder Rage'? as they are 'techincally' warders to the Ashaman, but do not serve the purpose of them.

I was thinking about something......Rand is linked to Morridin....and Morridin has a renewed link to the Dark One from when he was revived.......What is LTT is actually the DO in Rand's head trying to force him down a path that would lead to failure.....Rand can channel the True Power through Morridin...so why could it not work both ways and the Dark One and get into Rand's head...... perhaps the Dark One knows that if Rand loses his humanity and emotion then he will not be strong enough to win, so he devised a way to force Rand to become emotionless and void of any humanity.... What do you think? ANd I meant LTT in the title LOL

Just started a reread of aPoD, and I was thinking about the Bowl of the Winds. Aparently the thing will start channeling on it's own, both saidin and saidar, with just saidar pumped into it. Q: What do you think the consequences of muddy saidin being channeled through it are? for that matter, the consequences of using any terangreal or angreal with the power? i mean, if the ways are polluted by saidin... wouldn't it leave residues behind on objects of the power?

http://astralspirit.blogspot.com/2010/11/wheel-of-time-arc-reading-guide-wotarg.html Alright, so if you're like me you've read Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time series many times over. It's insanely long (book 13 just came out), has waaay too many plotlines (6 major, 20 minor, and hundreds of sub-plots), and there are just 'some' sections you would rather skim over at times. Well, I have a solution! During my last re-read, I broke down each book into 50,000 word segments, focusing only on 1 or 2 character/plotlines at a time. WoT made simple, as it were. And this guide not only makes the reread a completely different experience, but it also functions as a time…
