This one came up in the 'fave scenes' thread'. We know about the snakes answering 3 questions. We know the foxes like to wear stuff made from human skin. But what's that about taking the nourishment from food?

HI just reading about darkhounds on the WOTFAQ - thanks Jennifer for working on that - well done. Anyway as I was reading about wolf souls been harvested etc.. I thought one of the horrible how can this be - never saw it coming type - comments we have seen from the people who have read the book could be hopper becoming a darkhound and maybe even going after Perrin? any comments?

With less than a few hours left before Towers of Midnight comes out, I thought it would be fun to put down for the record some thoughts that have been bouncing around in my head. I wouldn't be surprised if others have come up with some of the same ideas (if not all of them) so I'm not writing these to claim credit. This is just my favorite kind of speculation to engage in, and I'd love to hear what others have come up with. AND I know that a lot of these calls will probably never be explained or verified. 1. Tuon/Fortuona is Eldrene reborn. 2. Logain will be the one to take out Taim, and it's gonna be f@#$in' awesome. 3. Alternately, Logain will fulfil…

I am seriously psyched for Nov. 2. I've been reading this series since 1991, and I have Rand's Dragon tattooed on my back. I will be at the book store at 8am. BUT, I will be taking a break at some point during the day to vote. Do you plan to vote?

Will book stores here (I'm in Prague) have it tomorrow? Can I order it on Amazon to be shipped here? I was under the impression it wasn't released till later over here but haven't actually seen anything to confirm that.

Anyone know where I can pre-order ToM such that I can fulfill my growing need to read it the day it comes out? Or do you think it will be possible to just run down to Barnes & Noble on Nov. 2 to pick it up?

During my pre-ToM re-read, I noticed that my sizing visualization of things seemed off. WoT uses the 'pace' to measure many lengths, but apparently the WoT definition of 'pace' doesn't match the real-world Roman pace of 5 feet. According to the Guide, 2000 WoT paces equal one mile, which makes 1 WoT pace equal 1/2 a Roman pace (or 1 Byzantine pace, according to Wikipedia). (I was wondering why Rand was whining about a 10x15' cell in Far Madding.) Just one of those curious things that was bugging me. -- dwn

Hello, Does anyone in the forum know of any book stores in Denver that are staying open until midnight and selling Towers Of Midnight? If you do, I'd be grateful for the details! (Web searches for midnight releases of Towers of Midnight don't work very well...) Many thanks, and happy reading, everyone.

From what i have read from around the place it's seems most people consider the bond between Rand and Moridin to simply be a physical connection like a " if i punch rand in the gut moridin will feel it too" kind of thing, and while i don't dispute this i would like to expand upon the idea with a few thoughts of my own.. I think the physical connect exists but i ALSO think that there is a soul/and temporal connection going on here as well. Look at Rands behaviour post the balefire crossing up to tGS. He gets increasingly paranoid and angry, especially when someone tells him what to do, although not unique to anyone i think these traits strongly correlate to Moridin…

Found the teory of 2.3.11: What are "involuntary rings" a bit lacking. I really don't believe "involutary rings" has anything to do at all with A'dam but more with linking. We know that they called the circles for "rings" in AoL. And when Moradin is talking about "involunary" I believe he was thinking about that. As the skill, to force a female channalers into a circle agianst her will, seems to have been unkown AoL. We have seen it done once in LoC, when Nynaeve hade problem to join a circle and Sheriam just force her to join. Also from Talene Mindy, the BA/Green Sitter explained that Black Ajah hade a way to force people into a circle. I aslo believe that Sheri…

Please forgive (and correct) a newcomer if I'm not following the proper posting etiquette, but I noticed that the new (lovely) FAQ didn't have much to say about the spreading of the Shadar Logoth taint, though there seemed to be a significant development in The Gathering Storm. As Mat and company are traveling, we get some establishing narration to remind us of the old plot point (The Gathering Storm, "The Tipsy Gelding"): When Mat spends the night in the village of Hinderstap, the madness he encounters looks very familiar, especially in light of the establishing context (The Gathering Storm, "Night In Hinderstap"): The phenomenon is similar enough …

There are zero stores staying open late in order to sell ToM tonight. Its not like I am in a small town or anything. WTF?!?! I was supposed to have had it on my kindle, but for reasons unknown to anyone but Tor and "Jordan's estate" that is no longer happening. AT LEAST TELL US WHY!!!! Arrrrrggggg!!!!

Has anyone put together a list of where there are midnight launches? Anyone know of any midnight launches in Raleigh NC or the outlying areas? I have a copy reserved at B&N but they are not releasing it until tomorrow. I'm having a hard time waiting :)

So, I don't know if there is a thread like this already, but i haven't found one, so admins delete this thread if so. Taim, theories of him ranging from being Demandred, at least a darkfriend and more. What really bugs me about this guy, is that Bashere does not believe the person that answers Rand's amnesty is Taim. 1. He has fought battles in Saldaea with him, nearly losing because of it - thereby he should have some knowledge of who he is. 2. He follows him to Caemlyn because of that (and thereby getting tangled in the Ta'veren web of Rand) But once he sees him does not recognize him as Taim. 3. Taim explains that he shaved his beard, Bashere doesn'…

Hi all. I have just been re-reading The Fires of Heaven and was curious as to why the Lews Therin voice seemed to disappear when Rand entered Tel'aran'rhiod during his confrontation with Rahvin. It also happened when he spoke to Moridin in The Gathering Storm. I guess it may have happened at other times but I cannot recall right now. Has there ever been a explanation for this?

So from the time you get the book to the time you read the snippet of prophesy on the last page: how long? Figuring in the time I have to allot to homework, I'll finish it in about a week. I know most people are a lot faster than that. Some of you crazy nargs are going to finish it the first day and start posting spoilers.

You would think that NZ being the first Country in the world to see Nov 2nd would have it first.... well none of the bookstores in my area of NZ, will have it in stock. For other kiwis, I tried calling Manukau and Sylvia Park areas and all said of them said it wouldnt be in stock: *Whitcoulls *PaperPlus *Borders I was gutted at first but then realised the cheapest and quickest place to buy would be Fishpond.co.nz, I remembered I bought Knife of Dreams there and it turned up on the day it was released! Fingers Crossed it turns up tomorrow or I'll Balefire my flatmate's cats.

Hello everyone. I have been thinking about the 5 great generals in the Wheel of Time series. Davram Bashere, Pedron Niall, Ronan Ituralde, Agelmar and Gareth Bryne. Do you think these could relate to, or be written after the 5 great generals: Julius Caesar, Alexander the Great, Napoleon, Hannibal and Robert E. Lee? Tell me what you think!

so i have a theory about the seanchan. as of the ending of tgs they still seem focused on "the return" and conquering randland in preparation for TG. something from Cadsuanne pov in tgs caught my attention though. she has several AS that she trusts trying to work out weakness of the adam. i think that they will succeed. something that would allow a damane to be able to remove the collar herself. obviously that wouldn't have much effect on native seanchan damane who think that they should be collared. but if information like that was widely spread in randland it would put a serious crimp in their expansion plans. especially if it spread to randland born damane that the sea…

Ok I am new here and I dont know if this has been discussed before but does any one else believe Taim is Asmodean? He seemed to show up right after Asmodean died right? Also every time Lews Therin/Rand got near Taim he went off as if he were one of the foresaken and as if he knew him. Finally Asmodean could have been brought back by now such as Lanfear?

I want to make a playlist to listen to in the background of my ToM reading. I discovered WoT in jr high about the same time i discovered Metallica's black album. Since then i've included other metallica albums. Their stuff fits a lot of the themes and moods of the books surprisingly well. I'm thinking i'll add some Muse to the mix. Maybe some instrumental stuff to. Any thoughts? What do you all listen to?

Hey DM! I've finally got around to updating wotsummary.com with TGS Info. But more than that, I've setup a cool map view that lets you visually re-read the books. At default speed - it takes just over an hour. At full speed - well you can't read that fast. Check it out here: Wotsummary Map View and let me know what you think. // If you haven't seen wotsummary.com before -- also check out the way to drill down on a character... I know there's a couple of mistakes -- I'm hoping to clean them up soon.
