Long time lurker, first time poster! I'm not sure if it's alright to have spoilers in this area but just in case: this contains spoilers from book 5 In tFoH Rhavin kills Aviendha, Mat, and Asmodean. Rhavin and Rand begin a chase and Rand gets eaten up by pihrannas(sp?) or some fish in TAR. After he balefires Rhavin, Aviendha, Mat, and Asmodean are all alive again but Rand is still full of cuts and such. Am I missing something here? It seems to me that Rand's wounds should have been gone. Could this somehow be part of the big unnoticed theory?

Ok so this has been going round and round in my head for a while now. I was on my third read through of tGH and got to the bit when Siuan first spots Rand in Fal Dara and sees the glow around him and instantly recognises him as a ta'veren. What I'm wondering is how did she know she had that Talent in the first place? Has she seen a ta'veren before? Who was it? As far as I know, that isn't answered. How do you know you've got the Talent if you've never seen a ta'veren before? Cause like Nicola only realised she had it after she saw Mat for the first time and was confused at first by what she was seeing. And Siuan on the other hand knew exactly what she was seeing…

  5. Hi all, Just committed to buying through Amazon - even though this might delay me past November 2nd. I hope Dragonmount gets a few bucks out of this... Can anyone relate in past experiences if Amazon has delivered on, before, or near the day? I....did....buy super saver shipping :)

  6. Started by algspkr,

I would like to see crazy theories that are possible, but not probable. No Olver killed Asmo. Mine is that Moiraine will bond Rand as her warder.

  7. I thought this might be a fun topic before the new book comes out. For me, this question is easy. I wish Perrin had told all the women in his entourage to accompany him to Abila to talk to Masema, and thereby avoid the horrible, horrible Plotline of Doom. With Faile and the others with Perrin, there would have been no kidnapping. One can dream. What about you guys?

I'm sure this has already been discussed although I couldn't find it. She is reportedly weak in the power and yet a very quick learner, she watched Cadsuane undo and reset her warding on the box containing the domination band and is in a position of great power and trust, which is where the Darkfriends are most useful.

  9. Stumbled across this link and promptly got absolutely NO work done all morning. Best 'recap' I've ever read. http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=386600 The opening of the LoC in particular had me crying.

Some time ago i encountered question. It goes like this: "If you are male chanaler and you find yourself in face with a full circle of 13 Aes Sedai.how will you escape them if they shield you :)

  11. Started by bloodyflamingthisandthat,

I think that Fades are the result of when the human stock that produces the Trollocs would have released a channeler. It explains why they can sense a person channeling, can Travel through shadows, can Bond Trollocs to them through Linking. Do we have any official word on this or is it so obvious that no one ever asked RJ or BS?

  12. Started by Moon Sedai,

Okay, I get how the Blue Ajah fouind Salidar, even understand that. But how did the other Rebel AS find Salidar? I know there were the "Salidar Six," (Sheriam, Anaiya, Myrelle, Beonin, Morvin, Carliyna), none are yellow. How did they figure it out? Nyn and Elayne seemed to have discovered it completely by Luck and memory Just kinda always bothered me that "Boom! Usurpation!" then "Let's gather to a place known to Blues" then "Wow! Lots of non-blues!" and "the tower knows about this place!" ? Or did i miss something?

Hi guys I was thinking about that scholar who was killed by that ghollum; I believe he discovered something very important about Ishamel and the turning of the wheel, which was why he was killed. Later Min ordered the recovery of all of his books so she can try to find out exactly what he discovered before he died. Can anyone tell me what he did tell Rand during one of his visits? thanks. I cant remember the book exactly.

  14. Started by BlackoutNights,

Just finished reading the update on Sanderson's page saying things he'll be doing prior to starting on the final Wheel book (http://www.brandonsanderson.com/blog/925/Another-Long-and-Rambling-Postandtrade-on-Future-Books). The delay's primarily due to the need to reread the series again before starting, and I get that. I also appreciate that he says we've been waiting for the ending for far too long, so that'll be the first thing he works toward after his break. There'll probably be some who'll be a bit miffed at it. Normally, my pessimistic view also would put me in that camp. However, TGS and meeting the deadline for ToM has left me more optimistic, though the jury …

  15. This phrase is one that Moiraine first mentions (was it somewhere in books 4-6 that she first mentioned it??) as existing in the Karatheon Cycle, and then is later bandied about by Rand and maybe others throughout the books. Most people seem to think that this is one of those metaphorical phrases that exist in prophecies, and that it just generically means that the Seanchan, or Fortuona, will come to serve him. Is it possible that in fact this is Robert Jordan playing an ironic trick on us, and this phrase is a literal statement. We know that Fortuona is capable of channelling, and that an oath rod is binding on anyone who can channel. Maybe Rand uses an oath rod to m…

I always thought that the madness seemed very similar to what Fain did to control his followers. Could Fain have infected Masema at Fal Dara in TGH? And more importantly will it fade now he's dead.

What do you like about Gawyn Trakand? Discuss!

  18. Ok, the series has gone on for the better part of 3 years (?). In that time, there is ample opportunity for someone to go to the Shadow. Why hasn't this happened within the timeline of the books? Perhaps it has and we haven't had the "origin" story, but still, one would think that in an story as intricate as this, something as obvious as that would happen. Discuss amongst yourselves.

  19. Started by Moon Sedai,

Has Elayne ever really expressed a desire for Cairhien? Rand seemed so determined to ensure that his Lady Love gets Cairhien that I don't remember him ever actually asking if she wanted it, or her telling him otherwise. I know that Elayne was more focused on securing Andor before looking towards Cairhien, but suppose she decides "Andor is Enough, i don't want Cairhein as well?" (I know, it's a silly idea, what royal-type person would refuse an extra portion of country, right?) But suppose that happens. Queen Elayne Sedai refuses to rule two countries at once, or join them together a la Scotland/England King James. Who Rules Cairhien? Dobraine? Galad? (with his…

  21. Started by A2597,

So I hatched a plan 8 weeks ago: Read one wheel of time book a week, and finish book 12 the same week book 13 comes out. It seemed perfect, I'd finish on the 5th, so even accounting for possible delays, I'd have the book in hand as I finished book 12. Unfortunately, I found myself ahead of schedule. And today, I finished book 12. So now I am left to wait, having just re-read the entire series, with the anticipation growing to know what happens next with each page, now waiting for a hair over 3 weeks. *sigh* These weeks shall take far, far too long to pass.

  22. Started by Asgard Thorin,

I just read LB's review of Book Thirteen, and I wish I hadn't. She didn't say anything, let me hasten to add, but it activated the worry I've had with every knew release since Book Seven: how much will this book suck? Will it at all? Book Eleven was good and Book Twelve was excellent, but something about Seven through Ten was subpar. As the series gets closer to the end, this worry gets worse. Will it be like Bob Salvatore's work, which just went on and on until by Sea of Swords I wanted the woman and child who held Wulfgar back to actually be killed, and so decided that the author and I had parted povs forever? Or will it be like Frank Herbert's Dune which just went on a…

  23. Started by Sagshan,

Since the Towers of Midnight are in Seanchan, do you think that Rand has to go there for some reason. Any ideas as to what the towers are? Don't forget that there is a Seanchan prophecy that the Dragon must bow to the Empress on the crystal throne.

It struck me reading through TGS in anticipation of the next book that Aes Sedai captured as damane will have a very limited use in battle for the seanchan. Is the oaths rendered null and void when captured, or is former aes sedai only able to use the power when they themselves are threatened? Would be rather pointless having what is considered essentially weapons, not being able to channel unless placed on the front lines.

Why is Perrin such a moron. I'm relistening to the books and I'm almost done with tDR. Perrin has been told he is taveren, yet he doesn't accept it. He's so blithly stupid about the obvious that he blurts out, "why me moraine, Rand is the bloody Dragon Reborn," in front of strangers. I doubt even Mat would be that stupid, and Perrin thinks why me several times. He resists the wolves and gets people killed because of it. He almost dies for Faile, thus nearly comprimising the Light. He goes home wanting to die even though he should know better and only accidentally does right. Instead of doing something useful, he's twiddling his thumbs in FoH. He does use the wolv…

  29. I assume more than in TGS since the story will have a much wider scope. There are also the obligatory last stands against shadowspawn as viewed from the eyes of the average soldier that I'm sure will occur a few times in this book. But I'm talking about PoVs from characters we've seen in previous books.

  30. Hey guys, this is my first topic. I'm actually running on a sleep-deficit right now, so if I say anything stupid I'm hoping it will be corrected quickly. I was re-reading chapters out of chronological order this morning, just reminiscing with favorite scenes, when I started to notice a few patterns I hadn't seen before. Soon enough (of course) I had a vague notion that there was something I had been missing, and started fitting together a bit of a theory. I'm too tired to do the appropriate research and preparation to present the whole thing, but one component is an image RJ repeated over and over: when Rand acts impulsively or rashly while in the Void, he feels somet…
