This is just a theory I have regarding the last battle. There are some spoilers (Albiet small ones) from the last book. In Chapter 48 "Reading the commentary" min reads the following from a book; "He shall hold a blade of light in his hands and the three shall be one" Min and Cadsuane posture that this is relating to Rand being in a link (circle) with two other women. And that those three shall become one. However, I believe it is more about how Rand will go about closing the hole to the DO's prison. Saidar Saidin and the True Power Earlier in the book Lews Therin mumbles that "We touched it to him, something has to touch him" (he …

I was cruising the terrorweb, and I came upon this quote. "(Thom) thwarted Taringail's plan to kill Morgase and killed him." Now, I take this sentence with a grain of salt, considering the source. For the life of me, I cannot recall any mention of this in the series. I don't own any of the books (for all that I've read the series at least a half-dozen times), so I can't reference them. So is this legit, or was the "author" just pulling it out of his or her backside? Anyone?

So, I've long been a fan of Leigh Butler's WoTFAQ. I've even lurked here occasionally (usually around new release dates for books) looking for info. The latest update on the FAQ says that Jason will be managing the FAQ now, but I haven't seen any information on it here, or any new updates on the FAQ. Am I not looking in the right place? Any info would be appreciated.

We all got a funky feeling about Taim by now. Im definetly convinced that the guy is a darkfriend. But something is bugging me concerning the Dumai Well battle. Afterwards he tells the Aes Sedai to swear fealthy to Rand. He might have done a really fast adjustment in his head concerning if this will have a long lasting damages between Rand and the Rebel Aes Sedai(if he has that amount of information from that camp). But the immediate thought one think of having Aes Sedai swearing fealthy is that it can be usefull to Rand, the guy he is opposing. So why do it? Is it to plant Elza(who came first later) in Rand's trust? Or was he simply caught up in the tavereness as the Aes…

When Rand stumbles across her in Shadar Logoth, while going to kill Sammael, he sees her jum out and kill a couple trollocs, yelling "MINE." She is obviously having issues, and she view Rand as an enemy and does not even recognize him. When Rand tells her, who he was, and what he intends to do with her, stunned that she could have survived in Shadar Logoth for a long period time by herself, and she is still there. She runs away from him screaming the Car'acan (I can't spell). Rand next sees her behind Sammael, where she is touched by Mashadar, and begins screaming. Rand balefires her. It does not make any sense. If she was like Mordeth and trapped by Mashadar, It w…

So, I was thinking today. Graendal was killed with a massive amount of Balefire. Enough to wipe out her instructions to Ituralde? The ones that led to the insurgency, and his eventual alliance with Rand?

The polls are all done, if you haven't voted in any of them you better do so quickly. On Sunday, April 9, the finals will begin. The tenth poll question is Who is your favorite foreigner? note: Loial isnt really a foreigner to Randland, but Ogier are seperate societies, and I havent been able to place him in a poll question yet, so I made this one specifically to put him in, and some more of the Aiel which have been under represented (Aviendha). Poll 1: Who is your favorite Forsaken Poll 2: Who is your favorite Military Leader Poll 3: Who is your favorite Aes Sedai Poll 4: Who is your favorite Land Ruler Poll 5: Who is your favorite Post…

I have been tossing an idea around for a while, and would like thoughts from others. Siuan Sanche and Nicola both have what seems to be an utterly useless talent. Being able to see Ta'veren. This seems utterly useless. What advantage does this talent have, you get to see an occasional one-in-a-billion people glow. Utter useless upon first appearance. Lanfear is said to have the talent of being able to read the pattern. Could this be the same thing as Nicola and Suian, but in a more developed form. Lanfear and Beidomon were able to bore into the Dark One's prison because they were able to detect a thinness in the pattern. So my general idea is that the ab…

Ok, so Leigh Butler's non-spoiler review of ToM just went up on Tor.com. This is a petition to get Jason to post his review of ToM asap, since I can't hardly stand reading anything that Leigh writes, personally. And I loved Jason's review last year of TGS. So, if we get enough people to sign off on this, maybe he'll post it sooner than later (wishful thinking, I know). Sign off!

This isn't what i planned on putting as my first post, but its something that's been niggling at me for the last few days and I'm pretty sure its going to drive me completely mad unless i find out. Now can someone please tell me how old Faile is, I'm sure that she states in LoC that shes the same age as Ewin Finngar which would make her 14 at the start of the EOTW(Not having my books to hand at the moment makes it pretty hard to check) but according to other things I've read lately shes stated as being around the same age as Perrin i.e from the Encyclopedia WoT. Now Ive never understood the dislike for Faile that others seem to have, but that's always been based o…

The Green Ajah have always been one of my favorite Ajahs. I don't think I am alone here. Plus Green sisters often have multiple warders. Very cool. Yet, I am frustrated. Especially after the events of Gathering Storm. SPOILER*** I was disappointed with the Green Ajah's response to the Seanchan during their attack on the WT. I mean, come on aren't they supposed to be the BATTLE AJAH??? They are the antithesis of the DO's dreadlords!! At least... so I thought. If they are going to fight the dreadlords (likely including all of the Black Ajah that escaped Egwene's wrath)then I am very worried. They couldn't even pull it together against a small raiding force of Seanchan.…

Hello. I would like someone to please clarify something that have been bugging me for a bit of time now. It concerns the black ajah. I apologize in advance if this topic has been asked already. well then ill lay it out for you. Firstly how is it possible for the members of the black to lie and retain agelessness? To achieve the trademark Aes Sedai feature one must swear on an oath rod. So then black sisters lying implies a release in the oaths about lying consequently a release from all 3 oaths. If this is so then blacks must lose the ageless face. of course im assuming that the agelessness disappears along with the release of the oaths So then how do they still have …

Q&A with Brandon Sanderson 15/09/10 Q: The Wheel of Time is such an iconic fantasy series so how did you feel when you were asked to complete it on behalf of Robert Jordan? A: Nobody was more surprised by it than me. I didn't even know I was being considered. Like most fans of the series, I was just shocked and saddened that Jim Rigney (Robert Jordan) wasn't going to be there to finish it himself. I hadn't applied for this or anything like that. I considered Jim in many ways to be a mentor. I had read a lot of his books when I was trying to decide how to write myself, and he strongly influenced what I produced. I'd never met him, so I didn't know him perso…

I wish to pose a subject for discussion, I do not have a theory for or against but I am anxious to hear from the experts and just general fans what their take on this is. (Please forgiveme if there is a post concerning this already in place) I am of the opinion, from reading, that the male half of the source was tainted at the sealing of the DO as a result of the male half of the power touching the DO while the seal was put in place. I also am aware that LTT has said it was because the women AS refused to aid in his "Bold Plan" that the DO was able to accomplish this backlash. I believe this was a natural reaction to anythingtouching the TP/DO, the tainting of wha…

But what about a Maiden of the Spear? We know the AS can always find a way around their oaths, this seems like a very easy one to work out. Also, maybe the AesSedai can make armour for the Army of Light and the Ashaman will make the weapons.. Can Egwene win over the White Cloaks with the promise of power wrought armour? Can Logain win over the Army of Light with the promise of power wrought weapons? Just a thought... Discuss...

So. everybody thinks that this answer means the seanchan and rand must ally. but where in the prophesy does it say they have to be as one TOTAL? the seanchan hold the south and west, and it is as one. rand holds the north and east. what if this is all that must be done? what if an alliance is not necessary for the survival of the world? what do you guys think

Maybe it has been discussed before, but I have missed it. OK, after being stilled, the agelessness goes away. The Kin do not show the agelessness. The Damage do not show the agelessness. The Wise Ones do not show the agelessness. (We know that they live longer, and look younger than their years, in so far as the Kin and Wise Ones are concerned...do not know about Damane) This leads me to believe that the agelessness, along with why Aes Sedai do not live as long as the Kin and Wise Ones, is tied to the placement of the Oaths, which are broken upon stilling. (Otherwise, you would also have some life-long accepted that have it too....from what I can f…

So, we have 'After the Taint' and 'Use a Pebble'--linked because Verin compares the cleansing of the taint to a pebble thrown in a pond, ripples spreading. This issue was also raised with Harine, Elza and Corele. So. What do we think? One thought of mine was this might be someone finally thinking to look to Aiel men for channelers. Rand, or the Wise Ones, or both as a result of a random Aiel man sparking, directly facing the issue. I would have thought this would be Aes Sedai dealing with the knowledge, perhaps figuring out where men will fit in the world, but clearly the drama at the Black Tower is not just the debate of equality, so i now doubt that thought.

If so, how? If so, what are the possible ramifications of this? If not, where is it and who has it? ***A little below I got to rambling, and I sort of got off on a ''Mazrim Taim Analysis Thread'' rant - so I figure I'll repost it here***: Well, Ive been thinking that it is more and more likely lately. Mainly because of Taim's colossal arrogance. The scene at the end of KOD in particular was a bit Over-The-Top. Brilliant - and chilling, but a bit much. ... Even though I get that when it comes to the arrogance, well, that just who Mazrim Taim is. Its just how the guy rolls. But, thinking about him more, I ask myself: WHY? Why, or for what REASON does t…

I have a decent commute to work and have recently started listening to audio books. My local library has a fledgling selection of all sorts..my first was Clive Barkers the thief of nowhere(i think) this is a young adult book but it was great.(the narrator/READER) makes all the difference in the world. This being said I have only heard one WoT Audio book, Crown of swords.....it was terrible, and they have that "guy" reading them all??!! seriously does anybody like these?

Tomorrow, after the Prologue is released, Kristen Nedopak of Outta This World will be putting up the recording of Brandon Sanderson reading from the prologue at DragonCon. This thread is for discussion of that. Kristen also worked with Jason on the ToM trailer, and she has many fun behind the scenes material from that shoot up on Outta This World.

This is something that's always bothered me. In TFOH, chapter 54, "Lightning stabbed from the cloudless sky... Mat's smoking boots lay a dozen paces from where Mat himself sprawled on his back. Tendrils of smoke rose from the black haft of his spear, too, from his coat, even from the foxhead silver medallion, which hadn't saved him from a man's channeling." Rand assumes that the medallion doesn't work against saidin, only saidar, but I believe Jordan himself later debunked this, and the scene in LOC Chapter 44 where the medallion goes cold and Halima is staring at him in shock should have been enough evidence for anyone. So if Mat's medallion protects him from sai…
