Or maybe just the ousting of Taim, but I wanted a title with some oomph. ;D Ok, so I've always thought Logain would be the one to out Taim, and kill him. I think most people do. Between Logain's muttering's about Taim and his glory to come it seemed very, very likely. I'm now wondering if it was too likely. If, in fact, Logain was a red herring, much like the BA Hunters were for Verin. Here is my reasoning. Elaida's Foretelling; the Idiot Savant Ok, so here is Elaida's Foretelling on the subject of the Black Tower, amongst other things. No, Elaida's interpretation of this was that the White Tower would be whole under her, the rebel leade…

Ok, so I'm feeling fanciful today, and I was thinking--I've never been a fan of the 'men will become Aes Sedai again and the the two Towers will rejoin'. I think incorporation of the White and Black Towers is impossible at this stage without tearing the White down. There's too many laws, customs and beliefs in place. But, that being said, there are severe problems to two rival Towers. They'd become divisive, and undercut each others efforts. Additionally the Black Tower sitting in the middle of Andor has its own political problems, and we do know the current Black Tower is soon to be 'rent' in blood and flame. So... what if the new political relationship takes t…

So we all know how sly the Eelfinn are when it comes to negotiations. My question is this If the a Seafolk person went to negotiate with the Eelfinn, who would come out the victor? I honestly have no idea, they are both very fierce negotiators. (Oh, and the Grey Ajah also negotiators, would not stand a chance).

So Brandon ducked into Chatzy and did a bit of a Q&A with those lucky enough to see the twitter announcement. He said it was only 30 minutes but ended up being there for almost an hour--it was brilliant. Thanks so much Brandon! Alright I'm putting this in two parts. First here are Brandon's comments alone, and then I'll post in the full transcript for those who want to go through the entire thing. :D **Brandon** from x.x.x.100 started chat 7 minutes ago **Brandon**: We'll start in about five min or so, after some people have had time to join. **Brandon**: Hi. Brandon here. **Brandon**: Ask away. I'll answer. It will be a blast. **Brandon**: Oh, …

ok so i am reading the dragon reborn yet again and i came across something that every time i have read it it has made me wonder. can matt channel or learn to channel. here is the chatpeter it is in chap 20 visitations. how are you feeling the amyrlin asked briskly as she put a hand on his head. goose bumps covered his skin. so if he is like rand and can tell when a woman is channeling due to the goose bumps that tell him that she is do you think that matt can learn to channel or was it just his mind playing tricks on him? its probally already been talked about but it can never hurt to talk about something again and remember where ever you go …

This theory was inspired by the movie Inception – SPOILERS!!! Dreaming and Compulsion This weekend I saw the film Inception. (If you haven’t seen it yet – read on at your own peril!) The central plot of the film revolves around manipulating dreams, and in particular, using dreams to plant an idea or command so deep in someone’s subconscious that they think they came up with it themselves, which is called “Inception.“ The dream manipulation in the movie has some obvious parallels to Dreamwalking in the Wheel of Time series – the characters can enter others’ dreams and manipulate the dream world around them with their minds. Further, while they have some powe…

I count myself as an unabashed Mat Fan and I actually got chills when I read the following tidbit, shared by Mr Sandeson: ''However, if you were worried about him (Mat), it should help you to know that the large bulk of the Mat sequences Robert Jordan wrote are in TOWERS OF MIDNIGHT. There is a lot more Robert Jordan Mat to come.'' That quote comes from an interview that our excellent DM Staff posted here on DM quite some time ago. In it, Brandon Sanderson acknowledged that he was aware that SOME (however, NOT including Harriet)felt Mat was ''off'' in TGS. Finding out that part of what Mr Jordan ''left'' before he passed away was a ''large bulk'' of al…

Aside from being a joke of an organization up to this point in the story, once the 'side effects' (said with all contempt and scorn possible mind) of the criminal binder become common knowledge to at least Aes Sedai, will people really want to become an Aes Sedai thus cutting your lifespan in half? Would you? Why become Aes Sedai and give up half your life when you could join a different channeling organization that doesn't require you to give up half your life? Even more, it's common knowledge to us readers how incredibly ignorant and arrogant Aes Sedai are, but is it really feasible for us to believe that they would continue to insist that the 'Oath Rod' is what make…

Whats Your Opinion ... To me, it seems like with a 2012 release probable of The Very END of the series, that we can definitely look back (or START to, at lease) and form some opinions, which I think is a whole lot of fun to do as fans. And One subject I like to think about is: In Terms Of Writing...Which Forsaken Were Given The Best Character-Development? I will give MY opinion first, because I know most World Leaders sitting around waiting breathless on MY take on things: I think...Asmodean. I really do. Look at Books 4-5. SOOO Much Asmodean. It almost reads like ''The Tragedy of Asmodean'' in those two massive books. So much about him is covered. And…

In The Shadow Rising Moiraine says that she knows the face of her future husband better than Elayne or Egwene. She then tells Thom that they will meet again. I think that when she and Thom were in Baerlon Min told her that they would marry.

I've been doing a reread lately, and one thing that bothers me (and always has in the series) is the damane, specifically what would be their fate. I have a hard time believing that Jordan intended for them and the Seanchan to just go on into the future as they had in the past. One large (and long) subplot in the series has been the discovery, by the Seanchan that sul'dam can channel and what that would do to the Empire. So I got to the part in TGS where Cadsuane thinks about how she put on an a'dam to test it and see if she could find a way out. She couldn't, but it got me to thinking; what if someone did find a weakness to it that allowed the damane to be able to r…

So our buddy Nicola foretold that there would still be war and (gonads and) strife after the Last Battle. Do you think the Bore being completely resealed will make all the shadowspawn drop dead/easy to kill, or will the Blight cleanup crew have to spend a few years clearing it out? To me, it depends on how RJ wanted the series to end. If he wanted a "happily ever after", then they'll all keel over dead. If he wants a good set up for continuing stories in the world, he'd let 'em live and have to be hunted down.

Hey everyone ;) I was reading Brandon Sanderson's twitter today, and he mentioned to a fan that the prequels and outriggers were being shelved until after AMOL, and probably not going to be written (though this may change). (For anyone a bit clueless, there were two more prequels planned, to form a "prequel triology" with New Spring. The second prequel would cover Tam's past, the third would follow Moirane and Lan, leading up to the Two Rivers. The outriggers were to be in Seanchan, with Tuon and Mat.) What are everyone's thoughts on this? See the poll We know that some (non-major) plotlines are to be left unresolved, because Robert Jordan planned to …

Just wondering what is everybodys favourite scene from tWoT in general it can be from any book including the prequel? Personally my favourite scene is the cleansing of saidin i just thought it was the most exciting part of all the books i was totally glued and couldnt put the book down until i finished despite the fact that as far as i remember it was about 4 or 5 in the morning and i had school in the morning at the time lol. i just started my 1st re-read of the series and am currently reading tEotW on the chapter where Egwene, Perrin and Elyas come across the Tuath'an just after they meet. Its strange reading all this and knowing how it effects everything in …

I am posting some like this in order to try to dispell any crazy theories there are floating about using only quotes RJ and Brandon has provided for us. THis one has two parts. 1. First I will adress the fact that some people do not believe Cyndane is Lanfear (who clearly is) 2. The strange theory (Dida is the only one as far as I know, but ill try and kill it anyway) that Lanfear will help Rand with the who Callendor and 2 other women theory. SO first off. It is not in itself proof, but it suggests that Cyndane is not just a random person. Note the much, much more knowledgeable. Not just a bit, but much more. Suggesting that the obvious …

Slayer has always certainly been an enigma. Here's my attempt to put together a theory about him, possibly his origin. I got the idea from another thread on here called "Perrin Redeemed," which was about Perrin's upcoming role in Towers of Midnight. Specifically, the dusk jacket quote, "Perrin Aybara is now hunted by specters from his past: Whitecloaks, a slayer of wolves, and the responsibilities of leadership." (emphasis mine) I found this interesting, because, since his initial meeting with Slayer in The Shadow Rising--which served to introduce the character--Perrin and Slayer haven't crossed paths. In fact, it would stand to reason that Slayer really doesn't…

Now I see there has been a lot of theories regarding Shaidar Haran being Moridin in some way, and I set out now to prove its falsity using the quotes RJ and Brandon have supplied us with. This does not sound like he is Moridin at all. Moridin does not actually have any physical limitations in that regard. This clearly suggests that it was the DO making Shaidar Haran, an independant force from Ishmael (who was alive in his original body at the time) This i think hits the nail on the head. RJ has stated that 1. SH is more or less a "shadowy form of himself" 2. It is 24/7. Meaning that it is not Moridin switching between the two,…

If the Dark One truly wanted the Pattern destroyed, why not just order the Forsaken to use Balefire everywhere (either OP or TP)? So, why doesn't the DO want the Pattern destroyed? Moridin (or was it SH?) assumes this is what the DO ultimately wants. Yet patently it is not. So why?

LoC Ch 6 It is my understanding that this Sammael PoV takes place in Graendal's lair. I think I found something rather interesting. Very interesting indeed considering the context of where he is. The BuT perhaps? I am pretty certain this isn't Shayol Ghul or the Pit of Doom he's talking about. He is referring to the geographic location of Graendal's palace. :o

The Horn has to be the best ever reserve force. In the battle if a breech occurs in the line of the forces of light Mat merely has give a toot on the horn and send the Heroes of Legend (HoL)to seal the breech. If he sees a command spot on the side of the Dark Forces once again blow the Horn and order the HoL to take it out. It could be a reserve force carried on a strap hung around his neck, always ready and at hand.

Find non-WoT related artwork which seems to depict a WoT scene. Include a picture and the scene you think it depicts in your post. ;) An Age of Legends city (assuming London existed in AoL, lol) under siege by the shadow during the War of Power: edit: for some reason now I wasn't seeing it, that was pretty weird but this should work also: Iron Maiden kicked ass last Saturday.

I searched this topic and didn't find it mentioned in other links. Sorry if somehow I missed it. Something occurred to me in my recent reread. In LoC ch. 8 Perrin wonders if darkhounds can eat the soul of a wolfbrother. The Luc/Isam issue has always puzzled me. According to a foretelling the outcome of Tarmon Gai'don depends upon Luc in particular going to the Blight (which is where he becomes Slayer). "Luc came to the Mountains of Dhoom. Isam waited in the high passes. The hunt is now begun. The Shadow's hounds now course, and kill. One did live, and one did die, but both are. The Time of Change has come." Is it possible that this is what Lu…

Okay, so like Jordan is a serious writer. And he uses things like foreshadowing, dramatic irony, plot devices and all that good stuff, right? And he doesn't put anything into a story unless it absolutely necessary. I mean, look at TFoH where Mat kills Couladin(spelling?). So, what was the purpose of not allowing Rand to see Sammael being consumed by Mashadar? The only reason Rand didn't see this happen was because he had to kill an Aiel woman--who had been lost in Shadar Logoth for no useful reason in terms of moving the story along--to save the woman from a fate worse than death, being consumed by Mashadar. Also, after this Rand never got over his fear of killing women, …

Is by far my favorite one. I really wish they would have gone with Scott Fischer or even some of the other artists doing the eBooks instead of Darrel Sweet, whom I cannot stand. But this isn't about that. My question is this: Is there a larger resolution available for the cover art on Winter's Heart than this one: http://www.dragonmount.com/News/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/Winters_Heart_ebook.jpg? I want to make it my desktop wallpaper, but that one is just too small to look right. Thanks!

Or some such that's at the tail end of the of the Aelfinn 'prophecy' to Rand. Now I had always assumed this referred to Randland & Seanchan allying and becoming one in their vigilence against the shadow, but recently I'm not so sure. Lately I've started thinking what if this refers to Aes Sedai and Ash'aman needing to become one in their purpose? IIRC, this prophecy was mentioned in KOD to Cadsuane while Rand notices that Cadsuane is embroidering the ancient symbol of Aes Sedai! A hint possibly? If I'm right, it's pretty clear that Rand doesn't understand this, but perhaps Cadsuane has/will figure this out? Why is she making the ancient symbol of Aes Sedai a…
