Heres my list Rand; OK I'm serpareing Rand from the rest of the list for one Reason. I can't figure out who to put. In the looks department, I would have to say Kyle Lowder. However, I have not seen any of hs work and I can't say he would definately be a good Rand. Mat; Tom Wisdom Perrin; Andy Whitlield Elyas; David Wenham Egwene; Emma Watson Nynaeve; Natalie Portman Moiraine; Lena Headey Lan; Hugh Jackman Thom; Ian Mckellen or Christopher Lee Padan Fain; David Thewlis Elayne; Morgase; Nicole Kidman Gawyne; Orlando Bloom Gareth Bryne; David Sutherland Elaida; N/A Galad; Joaquin Pheonix Tam; Jeremy Irons Aram; Jai…

Nowere in WOT a woman can/tried use TP instead a man( unless in the story Moiraine told about that battle on Manetherein)! That would appear to lead us into the murderer of Asmo-obviously Moridin, who was recognaised the one to wield the TP offten!

I was hoping to try and get into this series, but a few things worry me. I don't know how much of what I'm about to say is common knowledge, so be wary if you have not read all the books. First, I should say that I have absolutely no knowledge of the books except for what I gathered from the Suvudu contest. I know the main character is Rand, that he lost a hand, and that he is a prophesied warrior, and great sorcerer, and seems to have his own harem, special sword, and some wounds that never heal yet he can go on fine. Now, I heard ALOT of good things about this series, but this seems to be a HUGE mary sue from where I'm standing. I can tol…

I'm just curious. What exactly are pillow friends? At first it seemed innocent enough, but as the series has gone on it seems to be implicating that it means lesbian lovers? Am I the only one thinking this?

Hello there, I'm kind of a newbie to the series (just started LoC). I opened this topic becuase, well to sort of discuss the character of Min. Am I the only one that doesn't like her? Don't get me wrong, being able to see parts of the pattern is a really cool ability, but her character just bugs me. Every time Rand mentions "Min never made me feel awkward" I cringe. I've never been a fan of love at first site adn Min kinda takes it to the extreme. It's extremeley annoying when Min has to mention at least once every chapter that I have to get away so I can be with Rand when she's only seen him a handful of times. If it wasn't her interesting viewings I'd ski…

So there's a few friends spending time together-let's call them Rand, Mat, Perrin, and Aviendha, for purposes of this exercise. They decided one Saturday that it would be fun if they made some cookies. Everyone really likes this idea, so Mat volunteers to head off to the store to get some cookie dough and eggs. Of course, it's not long after they leave that Rand and Perrin realize that they're out of milk, also. And they forgot to give Mat a cell-phone so that they could call him. Also, for some reason, Mat had decided to walk to the store instead of driving, even though Rand has a really, really fast car. So Perrin volunteers to run out to get some milk as well…

Obviously by Jordan, but since that isnt possible, I would accept Sanderson also. Maybe something that tells of the drilling of the Bore and the sealing of it by Lews Therin Telamon and the Hundred Companions. I'm guessing there wasnt enough notes and back history left to do a full series without someone having to fill in huge gaps though.

well not so simple, so if he is as bad a darkfriend as we all think. Why o why was he and all of his Asha'men not at he cleansing trying to stop Rand and the others. I would think the Forsaken who was giving him orders would have been told to bring his army of channelers to fight

Well, I finished it, and I'm still interested in the series, yay! Heh, all in all it really wasn't too bad of a book. Yeah, there wasn't really much action, but it sets up for a lot of potentially awesome scenarios for me to look forward to in the next book. I was pleased to see Loial return, as he was absent from the last two or three books, and it seems like he's going to be taking on more of an important role than he has in a while, and I was also glad to see Egwene back as well, since she really wasn't mentioned too much in Winter's Heart. Here's a few of the highlights that I enjoyed: 1. Mat's courting of Tuon. This was just really funny, he doesn't se…

All throughout Faile's capture by the Shaido, we see Perrin' PoV where he says on more than one occasion that nothing and nothing was more important to him than Faile, not Rand, not the Seanchan, not even the last battle against the Shadow. He even says on multiple occasions that he would make a deal with the Dark One to get her back. Maybe this wasn't just hyperbole. Surely there are darkfriends who have noticed this and can report. If she dies, the dark one can actually bring her back, that's a pretty powerful lever.

So I'm on my re-read, and last night I come upon this from The Shadow Rising, Chapter 2 (paraphrased): Rand is dreaming, he dreams of being forced through a forest by Moraine. Waiting for him is the Amyrlin on a stump. A stump? what does that have to do with anything? Well, to me it's a small enough detail to point out that Rand is actually dreaming of the future where he meets Egwene as Amerylin @ the Great Stump. It almost makes sense, as this is the only way the two would be able to meet without a threat to one another. It was just too small a thing that actually made sense that made me re-read it 2 or 3 times. Discuss.

Does anyone have info about RJ having commented on the WoT covers? I ask because I've always thought they looked rather mediocre. The first WoT book i bought was ACoS in paperback, which stands out from the other books. Had IT, been a similar cover as the others, I might not have discovered the WoT. I can't imagine me being the only one to not like the covers (the American ones anyway), so I was wondering if RJ endorsed them and wanted this particular artist(sorry I don't have his name, and I'm too contemptuous of his work to make the effort to reach over and grab a WoT book to find out) doing them, or if Tor is responsible for the choice of cover and artist.

I that kind of my first post . I am wondering for quiet some time now , the whole thing with the aiel people . The word aiel in the old tongue means dedicated and with the memory our dear dragon shared with us we had a glimpse of what they had been in the age of legend. They where pretty much like the servant of the original aes'sedai (servant of the servant of all kind of ^^) , doing farm labour and other stuff. But still a privileged people protected by the status of the aes'sedai , both after and before Mierin free your master . In this age where violence was not fit or perhaps I will say violence was no need , they seemed pretty much fine with the…

Not sure if this thread has been done before....so here it goes! Just curious, if you had the opportunity to meet any of the WOT characters in real life, whom would you meet and why? Any questions you'd ask them? Anything you'd like to do with them?

So I'm not entirely certain that this is the best place to post this, since it's a bit crossover-y and less 'discussion' than 'random curiosity', but I thought here would be okay. If I'm wrong, I apologise and feel free to move the topic/poke me with sticks. I recently became aware of a type of blogging community I'd never even heard of before - March Madness 'cage fighting' communities where characters from different books/films/movies/games have hypothetical fights that the readers vote on until one wins. I came across the concept via Chickfight on LJ, in which Granny Weatherwax of Discworld emerged victorious. In another community called Suvudu cage match, R…

I've been reading a lot lately and for my birthday this last weekend I asked my Father for only a book. When he asked which, I told him to choose. He brought home The Eye Of The World. Needless to say I started in right away and as of last night I am officially one book in to this 13 or 14 book series. It was fantastic and I plan on picking up the second book tomorrow. I have a few questions though. No complaints. Just questions. The cords that are attatched to himself, the Forsaken and Ba'alzamon etc etc. Those are the cords that follow a person through their life that make up the pattern corrrect? (That's what I gathered but to my knowledge it was never …

The proof is all in the last name... Aemons last name is Caar al Thorin. Now obviously that is different from Cuathon, but if Anla can be ann landers and Elsbet can be Elizabeth the great, surely you can see how a thousand years or so can turn Caar al Thorin to Cuathon. i Mean say it fast and lose the ri in Thorin and its basically there. Discuss....

The situation in Hinderstap seems stranger than the other phenomenon that the books tell. The people there when killed during night become resurrected at dawn. The mayor there tells Mat that this has happened for about a couple of months. I think in relation to the series' calendar. It is told on Adar 20 (morning after Mat witnessed the event); before Adar is Aine, before Aine is Saban. (In our calendar, May 1-2 is when Mat visits the town.) From checking Cooper's timeline, Saban 19-20 was shortly after Mat & his companions escaped Ebou Dar. Not telling that there is a correlation between the two events, but telling where Mat was when it started. (Saban 19-20…

It's probably been brought up several times before, but ever since Taimandred was officially debunked, I've had a need to figure out what's up with the guy. My guess is that he's a darkfriend and that he has been trained by Ishamael since his age indicates that he must have started channeling before the other Forsaken broke out of their prison. His strength being close to Rand's means he's 'near Forsaken' level, so perhaps that's why Ishy would take the time. It could explain why he uses 'Travel' and 'So-called Aiel', etc. when he speaks with Rand, due to being around and learning from someone that would use such terms. His ability to hold off the taint certainly …

If memory serves the next book is due out this coming fall, however I've been watching his progress bar and it has not been moving much. I can't remember for certain but i'm sure by this time last year the bar for "the Gathering Storm" had hit 100% and he was working on editing. Yet this year we don't seem anywhere near that mark. Does anyone know if the next installment is still expected this fall? or are we looking at christmas or later?

Don't get me wrong, I love Rand and think he's the best character in the whole series. He's smart, skilled, and deep inside has a good heart (despite trying to be so hard all the time). That being said, a few things that irk me: 1) He doesn't see that Taim is as big a threat to him as any Forsaken (perhaps bigger) 2) He insults the crap out of the Atha'an Miere. They waited to talk to him forever and he totally blew them off. Similar insults to the Borderlanders too, but those I can understand a little more. Am I being too hard on the old sheepherder?

Is there a female character in the books who has NOT been beaten, stripped or humiliated in some way? or, another way of asking, Is the WoT actually just a nifty story designed to give context to Jordan's B&D kink? Seriously, is there any primary or secondary female character who hasn't been paddled, spanked, embarrassingly naked or the like? And, although it hasn't been explicitly mentioned, Cadsuane is Aes Sedai, so it would be assumed that she was at one point a novice, which means a visit to the principal's office and a spell with the ruler... I mean, the Mistress of Novices and her shoe.

Chick's in the White Tower. Figure out where. Base points. Graendal stated she was disguised as Aes Sedai. RJ stated we'd seen her ulter ego by CoT and that we should have enough information to figure her out by CoT. Brandon was misquoted as disagreeing, but has since clearly stated that this was a misquote and that he stands by RJ's comments. Discuss.
