  1. Saturday is the big day! It's the last stop of the signing tour and my turn to work as a Stormleader. After the signing we will be going out to dinner with Brandon, Harriet, and our very own Jason. Does anyone have any questions that they want me to ask of Brandon? If there are spoilers involved feel free to PM me. I can't promise to ask everything, but I am going to do my best to pick his brain! We'll also be streaming the signing, and will have pictures up this Sunday!

"Twice dawns the day when his blood is shed. Once for mourning, once for birth. Red on black, the Dragon’s blood stains the rock of Shayol Ghul. In the Pit of Doom shall his blood free men from the Shadow." "His blood on the rocks of Shayol Ghul, washing away the Shadow, sacrifice for man’s salvation." For the world to be free of the Shadow Rand's blood needs to be "stain" the rocks of Shaylo Ghul. He also needs to have shed blood in the pit of Doom. Once this is done the world will be free of the Shadow, maybe even that would mean that The Last Battle is over. "Twice dawns the day when his blood is shed. Once for mourning, once for birth." …

What would happen if you massively balefired someone who just balefired someone? Example: I am Ishamael. I am vastly powerful. Moiraine, who is weaksauce (comparatively), just balefired Be'Lal, removing him from the pattern for maybe a minute. I then balefire the crap out of her, removing her from the pattern for several hours. Would Be'Lal come back to life?

In the glossary of TGH and TDR, Ishamael is described as "the leader of the Aes Sedai who went over to the Dark One". That's the only reference to him leading the Aes Sedai, elsewhere he's described as a respected philisopher. Note the description as "the leader" not "a leader". Does anyone know anything about this? By the way, I'm new to the board and this is my first post, so hi everyone!

Remember Adeleas and Vandene? The sisters? It seemed like both should be Brown Ajah, but one was Green Ajah? And then when one of them died, the other become completely obsessed with finding the murderer? Well my question is this: is it possible that they were secretly bonded to each other? It might explain why one was Green Ajah (because she had two warders), and the Brown had "no" warders. Also, we have seen Aes Sedai after the death of a warder acting in a very similar manner. Just a thought.

This is for things referenced to be occuring but happening off screen. To get you started consider that both the Tower and the Rebels send Aes Sedai to the Black Tower. Neither hear back--going beyond when they should have returned. Yet Rand states that Naeff was bonded by one of the Rebels, and neither Naeff nor Rand show undue concern. And Naeff is introduced in this book. Is present often. With no paticular reason. Discuss. (Note: This is just for the above, whatever referenced offscreen action you find interesting is fine).

Hi, It says quite clearly in the first prologue that LTT has the madness removed (by moridin no less) so he can see what destruction he caused. He then got sad and killed himself. Why then does everyone insist on calling LTT mad, he isn't, he was cured. He was mad for a time, yes, but he was cured. Why does no one else ever try and cure the maddness? Sure in Rand's head LTT is "mad" with grief but he is not taint mad, such an important distinction I feel annoyed it has never been mentioned.

Ok, it's been said many times in the books that there is no way to win Snakes and Foxes without cheating. But... I wonder, might there be a way to sot of win? We know that not counting the snakes and the foxes there are two other pieces, one for each player. We know that the rules require you to move the snakes and the foxes towards a player's piece by the most direct route possible on their turns. But... is there any rule that states the both players pieces HAVE to move in the best manner to win the game? What if one piece purposely moves in a different manner, never intending to make it itself, but instead moving in such a way that the snakes and the foxes are…

So...I'm currently on PoD in my latest reread and I just thought of something strange. Herid Fel dies in Cairhien the Epilogue of Lords of Chaos, right? But the Gholam also ends up attacking Elayne, Nyn, Mat, and co. at the end of Crown of Swords in Ebou Dar. So how did the Gholam get from Cairhien to Ebou Dar in so short a time? Is there more than one, or can they Travel (or do they have a travelling equivalent). I thought Sammael may be responsible for Travelling the Gholam, but Jordan lets us know that the Forsaken fear Gholams. Besides, if the One Power can't affect Gholams how could Sammael have made a Gateway for it?

  14. Prior to the release of "The Gathering Storm" I attempted to get in a complete re-read of the series. Unfortunately I only got to about 2/3 of the way through "Crossroads of Twilight." However, while reading this volume I don't know how many times I had to explain to people that despite the fact that the word "Twilight" is in the title that it is in no way related to THAT series. Geez. ::)

I don't know if this has ever been brought up, but could mat's luck be related to people channeling at him? In the dragon reborn, one of the devices stolen by the black ajah is a circle of dice that causes dice to act oddly when its channeled at. When Mat is healed of his link to the dagger by as much of the one power as had ever been channeled into a human being, his luck was beyond phenomenal. He won EVERY dice toss in a long night of gambling. Since Mat acquired his fox-head pendant, his luck hasn't been AS good. He even comments on loosing at dice with someone (Taleasean)?

I have often wonderred if a physical or spiritual death is meant. As we see the book progress, Lew Therin inside Rands head is taking a more and more demanding role. In the beginning just a voice, he as of book 6 at times completely takes over Rands body pushing his own spirit aside. It is even described as Rand having to wrest control of his own body back. The most extreme example was at the beginning of Dumai's wells, where he angrily mutterred he was the Lord of the Morning and how dare they do this to him. Also he did unto the Aes Sedai holding him a punishment considered worse then death, something as we know from Rand's treatment of women he would never do. Als…

This also talks about the viewing of Rand's possible failure; more specifically about how the failure is to be prevented, not about who would fulfill it. Edit: With 'other', please specify.

Interesting thought I had while thinking about balefire & the DO & the AoL In the Age of Legends the Forsaken/Chosen & the good guys agreed to stop using Balefire because of its effects on the Pattern. If, as it seems to be becoming apparent, the DO's goal is to unravel the pattern and shatter the Wheel, why is he not commanding his minions to balefire with abandon? Isn't that the quickest way to undo reality and bring about the Dark Age?

Hey I was just wondering if Robert Jordan ever left notes for a story of the Kinslayer? I wouldn't mind knowing a bit more about what happened in the past and what kind of technology they had. Remembering to when Rand became the Car'a'carn and his flash backs it seemed like they had flying vehicles?

I cant help but ask, cause i hate them with a passion. It seems that throughout the series they started as something to be in Awe of, but just spiral down hill. I cant stand how they think they know everything, and walk around with a sense of entitlement that just keeps being thrown back in there faces as wrong wrong wrong. They just look down on everyone who has a different point of view or another train of thought, it feels like their alot like the Nun's i went to school with when i was younger, and they are just itching to paddle me. There are obvisouly a few exceptions but overall i think the black tower needs needs to smack the white towers butt and tell it to get in…

We've done the saddest scenes, how about the most humorous scenes? I'm blazing through in an attempt to finish the last three books before Super Tuesday (currently finishing tPoD) and the scene during the March to Camelyn describing Lan and Nynaeve's wedding I find comical. "It was her own fault for choosing a Sea Folk wedding, in Elayne’s estimation. The Sea Folk believed in hierarchy as they did in the sea, and they knew a woman and her husband might be promoted one past the other many times in their lives. Their marriage rites took that into account. Whoever had the right to command in public, must obey in private. Lan never took advantage, so Nynaeve said — …

Encountered this on my current readthrough. It says that Egwene has sisters. Not like AS sisters, but real blood sisters. It's weird how she never thinks about them and none of the other characters mention them. I kind of think its a shame. I might have brought an interesting dynamic if one of them were one of the girls that Verin brought back from the Two Rivers. -Rin

  24. Okay I have been wondering if any of the characters have been turned to the Dark One agaisnt there will. It has been mentioned in the text a couple of times and I think it might have been done to someone or to someones. Who is possible? Taim? Logain? Tam? Personally I do not think Taim has been turned he just gets these headaches and they cause him to be oh so cranky. I think Logain might be possible. After they realised that Taim wasn't very good at getting close to Rand they brought in Logain to keep tabs on him. Maybe they even instructed Taim to be so apparent in his tactics of getting on the wrong side of Rand and that helped get Logain close to Rand or in his g…

Hi folks, As the title suggests this thread is to discuss the possibility of a leather bound edition of the complete (14 books) Wheel of Time series. Brandon Sanderson once said that he was going to push for this when the series was complete (sorry I don't have a reference, I just don't want to trawl through all his old blogs). Anyways, Hopefully they would be published as a set, or 1 every month, like the eBooks. I for one would rejoice if this were to be produced, money would be no object to me, I'm not rich or anything, far from it, I would just be happy to spend the money on something I love so much. And if you think about it an "expensive" copy of …

Hello, [TGS free discussion] Let me start by saying i'm new and I've done a search with some key words such as those in the title, but nothing showed up, so here's a theory that i've been mulling over recently. First let's consider the Dark One's prison. It is known that the dark ones prison must be outside of the pattern, else he could touch it. Secondly it is also known that the place where the bore can be most easily felt is where the pattern is thin. Finally we also know that The Bore is often described as a hole in the Pattern. Now lets consider all we know of Travelling. Firstly we know that men and women Travel by different methods. Women travel…
